I'm a stuck up bitch , want to know why?

So I've been seeing a bloke , was set up through a friend (it's her brother)
Couple of dates, good so far. Tonight the plan was for me to drop in on him , pick him up for a dog walk (I'm dog sitting at mo)
I get there, he invites me in, the house STINKS. The curtains are shut, but it's not messy or anything. It must have shown on my face (it was very strong) He then said the romantic words all women want to hear "I just love sitting at home farting"
I thought he was joking, he wasn't. Because I thought that was grim, I am a stuck up batch apparently.

And this was a “friend” that set you up with this person????

fruitandvegoverload · 06/05/2025 07:36

@Minimili that’s made me laugh this morning 🤣

So it was his sister that set you up? Are you going to mention this to her?

Mmm. I would be wary of saying anything. My brother in law set me up with his mate years ago. It was terrible. It was boring and he chastised me for swearing. I was honest with me brother in law and he told him. Apparently his friend still brings it up after a few drinks. Even though he is married. Some people don’t handle rejection well. As he called her the name he did - I would imagine he is one of those guys.

merrymelody · 06/05/2025 08:09

Smelly old goat! Dump him.

Whatafustercluck · 06/05/2025 08:16

I call that a lucky escape, op! I mean, many people sit at home and fart (myself included) but to not only not spray some air freshener, but to proudly announce it on a second date, is the grimmest of grim.

Nah, I'm kind of over protecting men's poor behaviour or ego

I heartily applaud this attitude.

It’s just putting your friend in an awkward situation, if you are balsy enough just say it directly to him, the other way is a bit weak, as you want him to get the message through someone else

Yep said it to him and will say it to her too.
The poor behaviour is with him, so no need for me to pussyfoot around that

He's a disgusting pig.
OP is doing her friend a huge favour by telling her what a disgusting pig he is.

Yes she may be mortified at what she hears, but better that than wasting her time on setting up a pig at it reflecting poorly on her.

I certainly would rather be told.
I also would go back to him and tell him he is an uncouth, disgusting pig, and I will never ever involve myself in his romantic life again.

I would be genuinely furious and mortified in equal measure.

scorpiogirly · 06/05/2025 12:39

I'm glad you "blew him off".

1SillySossij · 06/05/2025 12:44

Surely he is allowed to unreservedly fart while he is alone in his own house!

yes, of course , and when he knows someone is coming round - he should open windows, make it pleasant etc and not say he loves being there by himself farting.
There really is no way of gaslighting me into anything other than thinking this is totally gross, weird and NOT NORMAL

Yes this should be taught in PHSE lessons in school (and we have teen boys!)

If you are still on the early dating stage and you get called a "Stuck up bitch" you know what, that's ok, at least you haven't wasted any more time.

The modern 'average' male ego is utterly detached from reality at the moment!

But to fill a room, manners aside, that is some serious body malfunction going on there.

OP might have dodged a "he's about to get serious internal digestive issues" in the not too distant, and no one wants to nurse someone else unless, you know, the relationship is embedded.

Shitmonger · 05/05/2025 19:34

I’m sorry OP but I can’t stop laughing at this. He not only hotboxed his own place with flatulence, he actually said “I just love sitting at home farting?”

It’s so unhinged. 😂 It’s like one of those examples women give when making fun of the “male loneliness epidemic.”

So true!
Your name is perfect for this thread as well 😂

And that's why you shit on your own doorstep. This will invariably affect your friendship.

It really won't. She will be aghast at her stinky brother. We will have a laugh. It's not that deep

Doubt she'd be impressed if she knew you were slagging him off online... so it must be that deep.

queenMab99 · 06/05/2025 13:45

He is your friends brother? Perhaps he didn't want to be set up. It sounds purposeful.
