I'm a stuck up bitch , want to know why?

So I've been seeing a bloke , was set up through a friend (it's her brother)
Couple of dates, good so far. Tonight the plan was for me to drop in on him , pick him up for a dog walk (I'm dog sitting at mo)
I get there, he invites me in, the house STINKS. The curtains are shut, but it's not messy or anything. It must have shown on my face (it was very strong) He then said the romantic words all women want to hear "I just love sitting at home farting"
I thought he was joking, he wasn't. Because I thought that was grim, I am a stuck up batch apparently.

This is the mythical 'outing' MN hobby. Except it requires staying in instead of going out.

What has his sister said about there being no further dates? Did she know he was this grim?

It only happened a few hours ago so I haven't caught her up yet

Mid forties!!?? I envisaged a young bloke like Jay from the Inbetweeners who didn’t have a clue around women.

Don’t bother saying anything to her, it hasn’t really got anything to do with her really

This is why you should never match make or recommend a friend for romantic reasons - least of all your brother!

Yes, because it will reveal more about you than you were willing to expose.

His poor sister must be so used to the stench since childhood that she isn't even aware of it anymore.

Haha she’s nose blind!

Dogpawsandcatwhiskers · 05/05/2025 21:54

Does he not realise why he's single? 🤣

HappiestSleeping · 05/05/2025 21:54

And they say romance is dead.

This ranks right up there with 'shall we go to McDonald's for dinner?'

WearyAuldWumman · 05/05/2025 21:55

Honestly, it reminds me of my teaching days. You'd get teenage boys letting one rip and then intoning "Wherever ye may be, let the wind blow free!" Obviously something they'd learned from a father figure.

At one point, I dealt with it by saying "Now we know where they hid the weapons of mass destruction."

Believe it or not, that was enough to stop it.

Sometimes, I didn't have to say anything: there would be a pained response from a classmate which would be even more effective than anything an adult might say.

A man in his 40s boasting about it? You did right to throw the whole man away.

Except if she is setting him up with her friends, she is bound to ask how it's going. Saying he isn't my type may prompt further questions. Might as well cut to the chase and say he was rude and that his personal habits appear a little unusual. She should know who she is trying to palm off onto her pals.

bramblefoot · 05/05/2025 22:00

How pathetic and utterly unappealing OP, at aged 40 as well, dire.

Obviously you know you are not a stuck up bitch but must also know this is a lucky escape on a number of counts. I'd be so genuinely disappointed and angry if I'd heard my brother had spoken to a woman like this in those circumstances, it reflects so poorly on him in so many ways.

PeachBlossom1234 · 05/05/2025 22:04

Similar scenario but I was a stuck up bitch because I have bottled water. I’m staying single….

BlondiePortz · 05/05/2025 22:07

OK so just move on

Addictedtopretzels · 05/05/2025 22:09

At least he didn’t blame your dog!

BigHeadBertha · 05/05/2025 22:11

Ugh. Smelly, misogynistic pig. Discard!

notprincehamlet · 05/05/2025 22:12

fart fug
That right there is a Jo Malone candle waiting to happen

ChaToilLeam · 05/05/2025 22:15

What an absolute prince! 🤣

TheGander · 05/05/2025 22:21

In my experience men call women stuck up bitches when they know they are out of their league.

Welshwhales · 05/05/2025 22:22

Just tell her your friend you're gone with the wind 😂 can you imagine what he would progress to !! Yuk 🤮

LuckyPeonies · 05/05/2025 22:22

Grim! 🤢 Reminds me of the farting sister situation in ‘like water for chocolate’, with everyone waving incense about. Except she was ill & thus had an excuse. 🤣

babystarsandmoon · 05/05/2025 22:24

Ick! No wonder he needed his sister to set him up.

Deboh · 05/05/2025 21:06

Okay confession time, im farting reading this. But… I have the curtains open 😳

My curtains are shut but I’m NOT farting and neither is my husband. 😂

HotAsSatansBalls · 05/05/2025 22:27

Changedusernameforthis2 · 05/05/2025 20:56

His sister is not like this at all. I highly doubt its a family thing

You have no idea what goes on behind closed doors OP. Closed curtains, however …

I hope your sense of smell hasn’t been damaged for life, and your poor dog doesn’t end up on a ventilator.

Itsjustgonenoonhalfpastmonsoon · 05/05/2025 22:28

Changedusernameforthis2 · 05/05/2025 20:36

Not in the slightest neurotic. It was honking in there and obvious that it was. I didn't immediately bring it up

Did you find out if they were fresh farts or old stale ones? 😂😂

Sunbline · 05/05/2025 22:38

Welshwhales · 05/05/2025 22:22

Gone with the wind 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nanny0gg · 05/05/2025 22:46

SquashedMallow · 05/05/2025 21:35

Ok. Noted. If a man farts in his own home and I'm not overly bothered by that : it means my standards are incredibly low. Ok, thanks, got you. I think I'll just stick to LTB when he calls me a "stuck up bitch "

If he does and doesn't open windows to clear the air because he knows someone is coming over then he's extremely rude
