To ask when you receive an item from Vinted, you don’t click ‘Accept order’

Obviously if you are happy to accept it? Why do people not bother? It takes seconds. I prefer to use my Vinted balance if I want to buy something. I always click to accept if it’s as described.

People just forget, I’d imagine.

I don't have Vinted notifications on my phone and I only open the app when I want to buy or sell something. So my only reminder to accept an order is the email I get as soon as I pick the item up. By the time I’ve got home and tried it on a few hours later, I’ve probably forgotten about that email.

UnaOfStormhold · 05/05/2025 13:30

I find thr messaging interface annoying. I know it makes a difference to sellers so I do try but iI would do it more if you could click directly from the email or if there was an "action neededx section on the app.

Dinosweetpea · 05/05/2025 13:54

It's annoying I agree, with postage times it takes so long to get the money when you have to wait for auto approval.
It takes seconds to click OK and release the funds.

Blackcountrychik83 · 05/05/2025 14:01

But then it’s also annoying when the seller spams you with messages as soon as they’ve posted the item .
One woman I honestly felt like she was harassing me . It got delivered at the shop and within 20 mins I got a msg asking me to collect it . I couldn’t I was on the way to work . So she asked me to collect after work . I said shop is shut and then I was Ill in bed the next day and she sent me so many msgs . I collected but I didn’t have the energy to check the item . She got really funny about it . In the end I got up out of bed to try the damn things just to send the money to get her off my back . She must’ve sent me 15 msgs .

in the end I told her if she wanted the money so desperately she should’ve sold them on market place or fb . I’ve never experienced another seller like that one .

It's so rude! Why delaying for a seller to get their money when you have the items. You can't know the circumstances but some seller really need the cash.

Do people really collect or receive a parcel and just forget about it? Don't open it, don't try, don't pay?

That's not even an excuse, if they can't be bothered to check the item, they should still pay. Vinted should transfer money automatically much sooner than they are doing now

If you are checking you are happy with your order but you "forget" to confirm, you are just being disingenuous.

alphabetcrayons · 05/05/2025 14:11

I totally get it and it’s annoying but I do sometimes just forget, if I’ve grabbed it on the school run or something it just slips my mind. I do try to remember though! And I think Vinted are good in that they only give it like 2 days before it’s auto-accepted, it’s just that little added safety for the buyer.
I do agree with other posters too I find the messaging with Vinted a mess - I wish there were options to keep your sales and purchases all separate from general messages, favourites, offers etc - if you’re selling a lot it becomes such a mess!!

Namechangedforspooky · 05/05/2025 14:14

I would imagine they just don’t see the notifications. I get everything delivered to my home address and if I’m at work so I can’t check the parcel then there will be a delay. I do try to remember but with the best will in the world unless you’re at home a lot it’s easy to forget the odd one as I quite often don’t open them for 24-48 hours if I’m away
it seems to auto accept quite quickly too - 48h?

Absolutely!

MoveYourSelfDearie · 05/05/2025 15:08

I want to wash the item before I have a good look at it. Especially if it smells strongly of fabric conditioner, wet dog, smoke or is covered in dog/cat hair.

Whaleadthesnail · 05/05/2025 15:21

Usually because it's been delivered to home while I'm at work so I can't physically look at it for a few hours....

Katemax82 · 05/05/2025 15:26

I always do it on the way back to my car from the inpost locker

if you are washing faulty items only, I can see your points

but this doesn't apply to most items of clothing, thankfully.

It would be ridiculous and being a CF to wash things on principle before deciding if you accept or not!

Iloveeverycat · 05/05/2025 15:52

I didn't know I had to as the item is showed as delivered or collected.

BertieBotts · 05/05/2025 15:53

If they haven't sold on the platform they might not know that it delays the money if they don't click it quickly. It's been a while since I bought anything on Vinted, but I thought you usually pay before the item is posted, it's just that the funds don't get released to the seller until the buyer confirms receipt.

Or they might forget.

Or they might not care because it makes no difference to them.

ThisUsernameIsNowTaken · 05/05/2025 15:58

I don't see the issue; after 2 or 3 days it's marked as 'Accepted' anyway by Vinted. I've recently had a few bad experiences with shoes that looked good upon visual inspection, then when I wore them the soles fell off literally within hours. Of course by that time I had no option to claim they were faulty.

HuffleMyPuffle · 05/05/2025 16:02

Because I pick it up whilst out and don't feel the need to open immediently

I'm also a seller, I don't care if they accept immediently or not. It's only 2 days before it's auto accepted anyway. It's not a big deal

that's the risk when you buy second-hand I am afraid. You didn't see anything wrong, they were fine when you started wearing them, why is it the seller's fault if they become damaged after hours of wearing them?

That's what I mean about people being CF.

nutbrownhare15 · 05/05/2025 16:04

Usually because I haven't opened it yet

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 05/05/2025 16:04

I don't always open the parcel straight away then forget to go into the app. I work FT with two pre schoolers, life is busy!

Atina321 · 05/05/2025 16:05

Because people have lives that don’t revolve around logging into Vinted?

The sellers were CF because they knew full well that they had these shoes lying around for years so the materials and glue would certainly have degraded, yet they sold them as "New without tags". I know it's a risk with Vinted; that doesn't make it right though!

anon2022anon · 05/05/2025 16:10

It's 48 hours after collection/ delivery Buyer might have had to wait 10 days for you to even send the item.

Why don't I click it? Because normally I've picked it up say on the way to work, I won't be opening it through my working day, I might not get chance that evening, so it might be the next morning before I even open it. And I do like to properly check it over if possible, there's so many people selling stuff that's damaged but hard to notice.

Edited

Twice this has happened to me with sellers selling fakes. My oh bought brand new shoes for a night out, within an hour the soles had fallen off. I’d bought brand new knitted style uggs. Within a few minutes my big toe had burst through the front of one. Of course it’s the sellers fault. Items sold online are not ‘sold as seen’, as they’re unseen, this is why there’s these measures in place. The seller has the responsibility to be genuine and accurate.

Wimbleborg · 05/05/2025 16:19

I agree OP, it is annoying, but I also admit I have time on my hands so always click pretty quickly that I accept the order. I asked my two 20-something daughters and they said they usually forget to click ‘everything is ok’. On a side note, my other Vinted bugbear is sellers describing items as ‘new without tags’ when they really mean ‘worn a few times’.

Why is it bad to want to wash preworn clothes before I look them over? I don't know if their previous owner was a mucky aleck or not! Calling me a CF is a stretch 🤣
