To ask when you receive an item from Vinted, you don’t click ‘Accept order’

Obviously if you are happy to accept it? Why do people not bother? It takes seconds. I prefer to use my Vinted balance if I want to buy something. I always click to accept if it’s as described.

People have lives & forget, as a seller it doesn't bother me because again it's not something I have time to always check up on...

blindblinds · 05/05/2025 16:28

And the messaging/inbox is quite overwhelming as you can't filter.

GRCP · 05/05/2025 16:28

Until I was a seller, I had no idea that clicking accept released the money. Didn’t even realise it was an option.
now I’m a seller I click accept asap but even then I do forget sometimes.

Paellama · 05/05/2025 16:41

I think sellers should be able to wait up to 48 hours from when the item comes through the letter box. You aren't always there, and don't always have time to try on or check as soon as you come home. It might not even be for you.

And when they've taken a week to get round to posting, plus additional delivery time, they're not worried about the wait for either themselves or the buyer who paid instantly.

Billybingbong · 05/05/2025 16:48

I guess I am currently one of those buyers. My parcel was delivered on Friday , but I am away until tomorrow, so my son collected it for me, and I'll open it when I get home. I was hoping it would be delivered before I came away, but the seller didn't post it for six days, so I'm afraid they will just have to wait for payment.

SuperBlondie28 · 05/05/2025 16:50

I sell and buy on Vinted. I like to collect as soon as I can do. We only have a small inpost locker within walking distance from home. Infact it's the only one in the 'village' now. If I collect ASAP, it frees up the locker space for someone else's package. I examine the item carefully before clicking accept.

What annoys me slightly is Ebay. If I've sold non clothing items on there, I message my buyer thanking them. They've probably got a bargain off me but never bother giving any positive feedback. It's not hard to do really 🤔

Reallyyyyyy · 05/05/2025 17:06

As soon as I open my item I open the app and accept as long as it is as described, sp far they always have been. I don't understand why you wouldn't?!

Saggyoldclothbody · 05/05/2025 17:26

I’m away and have had a parcel delivered after I left. I apologise if it was from you. If it had been sent within a couple of days of my order, I would have received it and replied immediately but I wasn’t at home. I didn’t want to click accept order because I’d not seen the item. I wanted to leave the opportunity to give honest feedback.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 05/05/2025 17:52

I only buy from Vinted (and always click accept order) but it does my head in on eBay when people win the auction and either leave it for days before paying or don't bother at all. They obviously wanted it enough to go through the bidding process so just pay up, then they can get their item and I can get paid.

JMSA · 05/05/2025 17:56

I always do it. If I’m happy with the item, I want the seller to get their money asap. It’s just good etiquette, surely.

Why is it bad to want to wash preworn clothes before I look them over? I don't know if their previous owner was a mucky aleck or not! Calling me a CF is a stretch 🤣

If you buy something in a charity shop you can’t pop home and give it a wash first, it’s sold as seen!

On Vinted when the item turns up you look at it, same way you would in a charity shop, you make your decision on whether to accept it based on that.

Washing it could do any number of things to the item that are not the seller’s fault- shrink it, stain it, deteriorate it etc. I vote CF!

TheDandyLion · 05/05/2025 18:03

Depends how long it's taken them to get it in the post. If I can see it's out for delivery within a day, I'll release payment as soon as it arrives. If they take 5 days to send, I'll leave it to vinted to auto-pay.

Twice this has happened to me with sellers selling fakes. My oh bought brand new shoes for a night out, within an hour the soles had fallen off. I’d bought brand new knitted style uggs. Within a few minutes my big toe had burst through the front of one. Of course it’s the sellers fault. Items sold online are not ‘sold as seen’, as they’re unseen, this is why there’s these measures in place. The seller has the responsibility to be genuine and accurate.

that's completely different. Selling "fakes" is just lying and you are not buying what was described.

However, It's on the buyer to ask how old the shoes are if they think it matters!

I am very careful when I buy on vinted, but "new without tag" means unworn, without tag. It doesn't mean they came from the factory last week! If the shoes have never been worn, they ARE new.

The seller has the responsibility to be genuine and accurate.
if the shoes have never left the box, the seller is genuine and accurate.

ForNoisyReader · 05/05/2025 18:08

I’m the worlds biggest hypocrite because I can’t wait for people to finally accept orders so I can get my money, but I’m also really bad at accepting orders myself due to working, having a toddler, not opening my parcel straight away etc

Agree on CF! You can’t wash the item, to be honest I would be really annoyed as a seller if my item came back refunded and washed. I would assume you’ve worn it for an evening out or something, washed it and returned it

you are being ridiculous.

Wash them before WEARING them, by all means, but how precious are you if you claim you can't "look the clothes over" until you wash them. Surely you don't lick them? Do you think you'll catch leprosis or the plague?

You manage in a shop, and you don't know the state of people who tried them on before you. If you buy second-hand, of course you don't know who wore them first, thats your choice.

You are a CF, to delay the money being transferred, and to risk damaging the clothes.

Because people have lives that don’t revolve around logging into Vinted?

funny how people who claim to have such a "busy life" have so many hours to waste on MN

latetothefisting · 05/05/2025 18:35

it's 2 days, get a grip. Sometimes people aren't home when the item is delivered. Sometimes they might have something else to do than immediately check a parcel.

Saying 'you don't know why they sold it, they might really need the money,' is ridiculous. If people are so desperate for the £2.50 they've got from flogging a second hand t shirt then they should use fb marketplace or take it to a car boot sale.

If they can wait the weeks/months/years between putting it up and someone buying it, and the further several days between it getting posted and delivered, then another 48 hrs isn't going to make a difference between life or death.

I think you've just nailed why I choose not to shop for clothes in charity shops

Eskarina1 · 05/05/2025 18:39

I take my time doing it now because I've been burnt more than once by flaws that weren't obvious (e.g. a necklace clasp that wouldn't stay done up, a zip that got stuck when undoing it and on inspection had a fault) that the seller must have known about. So now I wait till I have time to thoroughly check the item over.

TheChosenTwo · 05/05/2025 18:43

To be fair if they’re taking 8 days to get it to the post office I don’t feel bad about taking 1 day to open it and check it’s okay.
I mean I don’t actually deliberately wait it out but I’m not breaking my neck to confirm that it’s okay before I’ve actually opened it and looked at it to make sure that I’ve a) been sent the correct item and b) that it was as described.

MotherOfCrocodiles · 05/05/2025 18:43

I have mine delivered to work so that I don’t miss the delivery (work has 24h reception) and will only collect it when I’m next in the office. I didn’t realise there were consequences for sellers although waiting 48h doesn’t sound that bad, you wait longer in A&E.

It’s not a stretch at all. You’re a first class CF. You can look clothes over perfectly well without washing first.

Edited

Well any shop has likely had someone else’s body in the clothes, people try stuff on.

Southwest12 · 05/05/2025 18:56

It's annoying but about as annoying as sellers that wait until the last possible day to send something. It's people that don't collect parcels for a week that really annoy me. I have one that was delivered 8 days ago and still not been collected. The last one that wasn't collected ended up coming back to me, but the payment went through. No idea what actually happened! I collect the same day if possible as I get it delivered to a shop and always feel bad if I don't. They keep them behind the counter and somedays it's a gigantic wall of parcels.
