Obviously if you are happy to accept it? Why do people not bother? It takes seconds. I prefer to use my Vinted balance if I want to buy something. I always click to accept if it’s as described.

Regarding the "I can't be bothered to accept if the seller takes the whole time to send"

Just as you have issues which prevent you accepting immediately, so too can things stop sellers sending immediately

Lots of online shops resell returned items. "New" doesn't mean clean and not worn...

How can something worn and dirty be new?!

Like when a shop sells an item of clothing at a reduced price because it has make up on it from someone trying it on. Or they sell an electrical item cheaper because the box is damaged.

The item is "new" because it's not been sold before.

blindblinds · 05/05/2025 20:56

But it would be marked as such eg store display and have an appropriate reduction. It wouldn't be considered the same as the other tops that aren't damaged?

MoveYourSelfDearie · 05/05/2025 15:08

I want to wash the item before I have a good look at it. Especially if it smells strongly of fabric conditioner, wet dog, smoke or is covered in dog/cat hair.

Once you’ve decided to give it a wash obviously you’ve already accepted it as yours!

blindblinds · 05/05/2025 20:59

And a make up stain from trying on isn't the same as wearing it 😆

Yes it would be reduced price, which they are on vinted.

I regularly sell "seconds" on vinted - they are new and unused but not perfect. I sell them at a cheaper price than new and in perfect condition in a shop and describe any damage. I still list them as new though, because they are.

blindblinds · 05/05/2025 21:00

Are they work though?

blindblinds · 05/05/2025 21:00

work

blindblinds · 05/05/2025 21:00

worn - bloody fingers!

Depends on your definition of worn I guess. I generally sell electronics, not clothes. But I'd describe something with a make up stain on as dirty and worn. If it hadn't been worn then it wouldn't have got make up on it. If I did sell such an item I'd list it as new but in the description put that it had a make up stain on and photograph it clearly.

YANBU its so annoying people are mostly attached to their phones. It’s definately more the norm now than years ago. Maybe I’m getting old but I feel most common courtesies are generally missed out as people think they are so busy…….

Whatthebarnacles · 05/05/2025 21:17

I must admit, timely service from them = timely service from me.

So many occasions were I like something and the seller will message me with an offer and the good old "I'm just about to send a lot of parcels so if you like and want at this price, I can send straight away" .... only to wait over a week as, yup - they didn't actually send that day. Nor the next. Nor the day after that.

Yeah, I'm not clicking received the minute it lands for sellers like that.

phoenixrosehere · 05/05/2025 21:26

I don’t accept the package until I’ve actually gotten home, opened it and checked it.

Depending on what time packages arrive at the place I need to pick it up from, I’m likely on my way to somewhere else or going to have to pick it up in the late evening after the kids have gone to bed and I’m going on my walk. If it is Inpost, it is further away for me to walk and away from my normal route.

onwards2025 · 05/05/2025 21:53

Very passive aggressive, but if I am happy with the order and seller has behaved well then I click it quickly after opening the parcel and do the feedback. If the seller has not be as great but not in territory where vinted support would be helpful at resolving it then I leave it and make them wait the 48 hours for their money and don't leave a review. Also the people that take the full time window to post out to me but then start message to collect 5 mins after it's arrived at the collection shop, I take my merry sweet time including once having collected others and leaving it there, Having spoken with others about this they do the same.

How can something worn and dirty be new?!

There was an article on someone’s programme a few years ago, possibly Joe Lynette, where he investigated claims of dirty items (returns, but sold as ‘new’) being sent to customers by an online retailer. He tried it himself, used Marmite or something in an item which he then somehow got back. I can imagine it’s perfectly possible, someone tries something on, smears make up on. I tried on a new dress from an online shop, it had a hole, was promptly returned.

I didn’t even know it was a thing you had to do. I’ve only bought a couple of items off vinted so haven’t got an app or anything. I wouldn’t have thought about going back into the site after getting my items.

But you’re only harming yourself by not getting the package then having to go back again. Personally, I don’t have time to play stupid games like that. What, in your view, is the seller behaving well? The max I do is send a message saying I’ll post first thing the next day. I’ve never sent a follow up.

Couple of times I’ve been stung when I ‘accepted’ straight away before fully inspecting the item and then it turns out soon after that it was in bad condition. E.g a small but dark stain on the front of an expensive wedding guest outfit, and a baby monitor that had a faulty charging port and so, although it initially did turn on and appeared fine, it did not hold its charge and was basically useless.

I don’t understand why people are so very worried about the sellers who ‘might really need the money’ but apparently less fussed about buyers who also might really need not to be scammed. Vinted gives me (is it two days?) so if I don’t have a chance to properly inspect it right away, I will take my two days.

Boredlass · 06/05/2025 07:13

My DH collects mine then I open them after my long shift. It can take sellers days to send it but they expect instant payment? I don’t think so.

GraveAndQuiet · 06/05/2025 07:23

If buyers autopay then I give them an auto review.

I think those buyers who also sell understand the system and appreciate the seller's position, so are more inclined to pay quickly when their circumstances permit.

IkeaMeatballGravy · 06/05/2025 07:25

I leave it to auto accept if the item was low value but arrives smelly, badly packaged or not as described. It's often not worth the faff of sending such items back after return postage. If you leave bad feedback you get bad feedback in return and vinted doesn't remove it so it's my way of slightly inconveniencing dodgy sellers.
