Is there anything more awful that next door's constant music playing on outdoors speakers?

Why do people subject to their neighbours to this? Even with the doors closed all we can hear is boom boom boom. It's quiet music but lots of bass that rings through the house and makes sitting outside awful.
Have tried to ask them to turn down bass at least but quietness lasted a few days then went back on.

If you frequently play music outside how do you justify it to yourself?

From another perspective, this week I've sat in my garden and apart from the school kids out playing there's been nothing, no music, no mowers, nothing! The old boy next door typically puts his radio on for his plants, but he's at the end of life now so there's just nothing. I have to say I've grown awful fond of Bobby's Girl over the years.

Ablondiebutagoody · 02/05/2025 19:40

My new neighbours TV blaring through the wall comes pretty close. Twats

Gnarab24 · 02/05/2025 19:43

So that’s a somewhat hyperbolic headline.
Yes, there are lots of things worse, obviously.
However, I lived in a semidetached house and the noise from next door became like Chinese water torture. Thank god I’ve moved.

AlloaintheMiddle · 02/05/2025 19:44

It is literally torture! You have my sympathies.

Bhockminsister · 02/05/2025 19:46

Awful for you, my sympathies.

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 02/05/2025 19:46

Why I HATE the summer - it’s the only reason I hate it, people are such selfish entitled c*S

Abend · 02/05/2025 19:47

There's definitely worse things in life, however, as someone with misphonia you have my sympathies. Could you blast Rammstein equally loud?

momtoboys · 02/05/2025 19:48

Yes.

DustlandFairytaleBeginning · 02/05/2025 19:48

Yes! I hate this so much. Selfish houses ruining the peace of hundreds of neighbours who want to enjoy their garden.

Swiftie1878 · 02/05/2025 19:48

There’s a lot worse, of course.

AmusedGoose · 02/05/2025 19:58

I had similar. Neighbours just being inconsiderate not nasty. I would put radio by an open window and play classic fm. Soon went indoors.

snoopyfanaccountant · 02/05/2025 20:01

We used to have a neighbour who practiced on his drum kit every night at 6pm in the garage and it echoed round the whole neighbourhood. A few years after he moved we had new neighbours who had used to live a few doors along but had moved away. After they bought the house they realised that they had never actually worked out where the drumming had come from and they were very relieved when I told them that it had been from the house they had now bought.

summerisnotforme · 02/05/2025 20:05

Maybe they are trying to block out the noise of screaming kids.

Judiezones · 02/05/2025 20:08

I sympathise, as next door's builders played their radio loudly in the garden and then inside. We just put up with the boom boom boom as we knew it was temporary.
Luckily when our new neighbours moved in they turned out to be very nice and fairly quiet.
I would find it hard to put up with the noise all summer like you have to.
I sometimes think all of us quiet, noise sensitive people should live together in a quiet village with nothing but the sound of birds (mind you, those bloody wood pigeons often wake me up at dawn!)

Throwaway909 · 02/05/2025 20:11

I'm completely with you OP. I am on holiday at the moment and have spent the past few days laying by the sea I'm Greece. It would be lovely to hear the waves but no, we have the music from the hotel speakers, the music from peoples personal speakers, the sounds of people watching YouTube videos at full blast and endless video calls. It's been driving me insane.
Having at it at home all the time too would tip me over the edge.

TumbledTussocks · 02/05/2025 20:17

Honestly people just shouldn’t be allowed to play music in gardens more than twice a month. I don’t mind the odd party but I’ve a friend who does it daily. She loves being outside and constant music helps her intrusive thoughts but I feel so self conscious about the noise pollution - even if she does play absolute bangers.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 02/05/2025 20:26

It can't be as bad as having to listen to the kid a few doors along bouncing his fucking basketball! If I'm sitting in our summerhouse and he starts up I do out music on but you can only hear it inside but it's enough to drown him out.

Could be argued that other people are intolerant cunts though too. Let people live man ✌🏻

I have no skin in the game either way because don’t play music outside and don’t have neighbours that do either. But for every argument there’s an equally strong counter argument isn’t there.

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 02/05/2025 20:39

@Throwaway909 ruining your complete beach chill time . I’d be so upset, sorry for you, maybe get a hire car and a map and find a beach with NO F**er on it

Turmerictolly · 02/05/2025 20:41

Or the thump, thump, thump of a trampoline.

pavillion1 · 02/05/2025 20:46

My god ! when did everyone become so grouchy ?

BoldBlueZebra · 02/05/2025 20:51

I see your music and I raise you a neighbour who shouts ‘Alexa’ ‘Alexa’ (who seems to be ignoring her) play Adele- then cater whales for half a track before we get back to ‘Alexa’ ‘Alexa’. If alcohol is involve we soon get to ‘ lexa’ lexxxa’ argh

i honestly thought her kiddie was called Alexa when we first moved in

Hollyhobbi · 02/05/2025 20:52

We used to have a neighbour whose kid used to whack a sliotar off the garden wall for hours on end! And they also had a little Barry dogAngry that never shut up either. Especially when we were studying for our inter cert and leaving cert exams. When we moved house his mother apologised to our mother!

Hollyhobbi · 02/05/2025 20:53

Barky dog

Radio for plants? Is this a thing
