Disgusted by school’s response to complaint about pervy teacher - Final Update

SophEll · 02/05/2025 13:08

Well, well, well. I’ve had a very lengthy and interesting phone call from the Headteacher (HT) handling my complaint.

I now consider the matter resolved, I’m sure you are wondering what was said and I’ve done my best to summarise below:

-My initial complaint WAS wrongly dismissed without investigation - as the comments made related to a school interaction.

-The HT has offered me an unreserved apology on behalf of the school for the handling of my initial complaint which I have gratefully accepted, as long as it’s also offered in writing (which I’m assured it will be).

-I’m told the Chair was most unimpressed to learn of my experience when complaining and an urgent review of their complaints procedure has been ordered. The HT tells me that they’ll ensure appropriate oversight is put in place moving forward and was extremely grateful for me bringing this to their attention.

-As previously noted, they cannot share the outcome of the investigation into my concerns about the interaction I had, which is perfectly understandable. Yes, I know he’ll get a slap on the wrist at best and should be suitably embarrassed, but that should be sufficient to prevent someone else going through what I did.

The term ‘tail between legs’ comes to mind for certain posters on here - I await your apologies with bated breath!

Thanks for those who’ve offered constructive suggestions on how to proceed, this outcome is a victory for anyone who has ever had a complaint wrongly dismissed.

I’ve also thanked my DH, whilst initially sceptical his support in emailing the Chair made all the difference. I have the utmost respect for how the Chair and HT handled this so promptly.

I feel as though I can now put the whole sorry saga behind me and move forward (I’ll probably give that bar a miss in the future mind you!)

I’ve told DH to put the champagne on ice!

Karen-tastic! No wonder some people are dismissed when an actual, relevant complaint is made.

iseethembloom · 05/05/2025 14:20

@Tandora

She was genuinely excited that an actual real teacher had given her some attention, and an actual real school(!) had acknowledged her, she opened a bottle of “champers” and came back here, as though she had something to brag about

She was so dense, she failed to understand that they acknowledged her only to dismiss her.

She probably failed to realise that in schools, people who phone in with this kind of nonsense are regarded as needy pests.

She used “champers,” which term fell out of fashion in about 1995.

JasperTheDoll · 05/05/2025 15:55

Maybe @Tandora is the alias @SophEll uses when her and hubby are role playing after a bit too much champers. Stranger things have happened.

Incessant rudeness is absolutely what she deserved and I’m pleased that’s what she got.

Once again, if you weren’t following from the beginning, she spoke of what she’d “endured’ and ‘been through’ - a slap in the face to folk who’ve actually endured real shit. From the start, people were telling her to get over herself.

It all hinged on the fact that the bloke was a teacher, which she really seemed to get off on. She made a thorough nuisance of herself with the school, as lonely crazies will. Finally, in this thread I think, she revealed that she was flattered by the attention he gave her.

Since I’ve been in mumsnet, I’ve been pleased to notice that - in response to most ‘AINU’ posts - the majority voice nearly always chimes with good common sense.

Yes I was there for the beginning. It was absolutely appalling and pure misogyny that pp’s were telling OP to “get over herself”. Hence her sarcastic attitude by the end.

Of course people have been through worse. Doesn’t mean OP (or any other woman) has to put up with unconsensual, sexually aggressive comments from a random bloke- teacher or not!

No of course they don't. I've sent quite a few off with their dicks between their legs for very similar.

The dying swan act involving the school and trying to get him disciplined was ridiculous.

You say op was joking.. yeh well a lot were also joking at her.

And when after listening to those talking about different scenarios as he was being compared to a rapist and a pedophile she thought she'd tell folk to apologise with their tails between their legs

You call folk ridiculous, try looking in the mirror

iseethembloom · 05/05/2025 17:49

It seems @Tandora is playing Devil’s advocate.

@SophEll didn’t regard his comment as serious misogyny. It didn’t challenge her ideologies about violence and male dominance.

Saying, “you old bags couldn’t hope to be propositioned on a night out’ makes this clear. This comment from @op frames his chat-up line as a thing she was flattered by, an achievement, a compliment, something positive. The positive value she attaches isn’t even implicit, it’s obvious.

She only needed to return with, ‘oh, is that your dream? Well, fella, it will always be a dream’ or ‘you’re telling me that here, now, when we don’t know each other? Feck off you sleazy eejit” but no, she didn’t have the wit or comeback, and needed to get her imaginary mates and husband and the school’s governing body involved.

@op quite obviously, isn’t any kind of radical feminist objecting to the comment on the grounds of misogyny or sexual violence. She’s a small-town Smanfa Brick who was delighted to have been paid a compliment (in her mind), by a teacher(!), and decided to get a bit of mileage and attention out of it.

There’s little point reasoning with someone who is so determined to be oppositional and contrary, so this is my last attempt to do so.

iseethembloom · 05/05/2025 17:54

@jasperthedoll it’s very slightly weird how she just went away, and who knows?! Name changes are easy to do.

The role play idea is a bit wicked 😂😂. Roleplaying the desk scenario with someone who expresses Tandora’s views is … confusing 🫤 😂

WigglywagglyWanda · 05/05/2025 18:30

I don't know if you can name change in the same thread.

Sophell has possibly recruited the silent husband though 🤣

What do you expect in a nightclub tea and biscuits? There is no harm in trying your luck in a nightclub. What are men and women supposed to do if they can't flirt in case of accusations. I feel sorry for young men and women how will they socialise and meet new people. I didn't meet my partner on social media I had to put myself out there.

Hotzenplotz · 07/05/2025 10:11

OP is Jacqui from MAFS Australia and I claim my £5. 🙄

Hotzenplotz · 07/05/2025 10:53

Also she is 100% on a wind up mission! Well done on this nonsense OP, you made me laugh anyway.
