Disgusted by school’s response to complaint about pervy teacher - Final Update

SophEll · 02/05/2025 13:08

Well, well, well. I’ve had a very lengthy and interesting phone call from the Headteacher (HT) handling my complaint.

I now consider the matter resolved, I’m sure you are wondering what was said and I’ve done my best to summarise below:

-My initial complaint WAS wrongly dismissed without investigation - as the comments made related to a school interaction.

-The HT has offered me an unreserved apology on behalf of the school for the handling of my initial complaint which I have gratefully accepted, as long as it’s also offered in writing (which I’m assured it will be).

-I’m told the Chair was most unimpressed to learn of my experience when complaining and an urgent review of their complaints procedure has been ordered. The HT tells me that they’ll ensure appropriate oversight is put in place moving forward and was extremely grateful for me bringing this to their attention.

-As previously noted, they cannot share the outcome of the investigation into my concerns about the interaction I had, which is perfectly understandable. Yes, I know he’ll get a slap on the wrist at best and should be suitably embarrassed, but that should be sufficient to prevent someone else going through what I did.

The term ‘tail between legs’ comes to mind for certain posters on here - I await your apologies with bated breath!

Thanks for those who’ve offered constructive suggestions on how to proceed, this outcome is a victory for anyone who has ever had a complaint wrongly dismissed.

I’ve also thanked my DH, whilst initially sceptical his support in emailing the Chair made all the difference. I have the utmost respect for how the Chair and HT handled this so promptly.

I feel as though I can now put the whole sorry saga behind me and move forward (I’ll probably give that bar a miss in the future mind you!)

I’ve told DH to put the champagne on ice!

Is this an awards acceptance speech?

I was wondering what the Oscar was for 😂

Familydyn · 02/05/2025 16:22

I do hope they use the same theme tune for the upcoming drama. In case you didn't know it was... Wonder if said teacher actually used an arab strap.

I have to jump in here.

Arab Strap is a band.

The song is about Belle and Sebastian's singers girlfriend cheating on him.

You were laid on your back with the boy from the Arab Strap.

I love B&S, but Arab Strap were signed to one of my favourite bands - The Delgados label.

I was more torn than wondering desk or face!! 🤣

I'm such a nerd.

I miss Delgados. Baby Rocky is 16 now and it turned out to be a girl 🤣

You crazy Scottish folk, making anthems from shagging and cheating and lying.
You could almost start your own thread!

Guinessandafire · 02/05/2025 16:24

Strange to think that the OP is so narcissistic that they have created a new poll where both answers justify her decision.

I bet the school are very much ' FFS I thought we had got rid of her when her kids left' .

It's astonishing that any sympathy for her having received an unwanted comment on a night out ( a comment which seems to have changed), has evaporated through the OP's sheer arrogance and smugness.

Goditsmemargaret · 02/05/2025 16:34

Bless you OP these threads have provided much entertainment. I can just hear the peals of laughter from everyone in the room after he put the phone down to you.

IWillAlwaysBeinaClubWithYouin1973 · 02/05/2025 16:34

OP - as I said on your previous thread - YABU because (a) you are complaining about a man and (b) he's a teacher. Teachers are practically gods on MN, I mean right up there with cuddly tradies and if male, completely beyond reproach.

Also YABU as I think this is a Prosecco moment, not champagne. But other than that, I think the point of the thread now is beyond just letting people know what happened, its to showcase the very worst of MN frothing because a woman dared not take any shit from a man.

Do make your mind up.

I am utterly humiliated.

Yeah. We say shit like this all the time to get rid of the loons and make them feel heard.

That's all they can do too many Karen's looking to complain.

They’ve all gone very quiet now they have been proven wrong.

Common sense has prevailed in the end.

She buttered you up to shut you up.

Icanttakethisanymore · 02/05/2025 16:46

I haven’t posted on your previous threads so I have no skin in this game, however, are you recently retired OP? You seem really invested in this and to be thinking of it like personal victory makes me wonder if your life has recently become more empty? I think his behaviour was clearly terrible btw, although I doubt I’d have bothered to do anything about it if I were you. Not to say you shouldn’t have, btw.

Helloworlditsmeagain · 02/05/2025 16:46

I voted that it wasn't unreasonable because that's the best you're going to get. She had to play the game.

HiRen · 02/05/2025 16:52

"going through what I did"??

"whole sorry saga"??

Good lord. If you don't have a job, I think you need one. Or at least to get out more. This sort of "whole sorry saga" is precisely why people don't put themselves forward for, or seek to resign as school governors (unless for the handful of highly prestigious schools in the UK, which with this response and quick response I know this school isn't). Mary Whitehouse originally came to mind, but she at least had some decent points and worthy goals.

JustSawJohnny · 02/05/2025 16:57

You don't deserve any apologies, OP. For what? Disagreeing with you?

You only got an apology because you were prepared to go public with this and kick up a huge stink. They're just covering their arses by fobbing you off.

I agree that you've really over inflated this and been rather vindictive and pearl clutchy.

Actually Hyacinth isn't as dislikeable

I am surprised this hasn't made the Daily Mail. The comments section would be interesting.

Honestly it's iconic to half way through a thread say "this is what the voting options are", list two things that completely fit your own narrative, and then triumphantly crow about how everyone agrees with you.

It might be one of the most ridiculous things on this 3 thread ridiculousness

Cherrysoup · 02/05/2025 17:05

araiwa · 02/05/2025 13:11

Tldr

"What can we say to get rid of her"

Quite. Having had many teaching interviews over a very long career, one intray exercise is about how to shut down a parental complaint, with the desired outcome being that they stop contacting the school about whatever the issue was. Sounds like th school has been successful.

Champagne, OP, seriously?!

Helloworlditsmeagain · 02/05/2025 17:06

Doggymummar · 02/05/2025 15:48

Generic fob off list, glad it's made you feel vindicated though, that's the intention

She can't go back to them they had to keep her quiet she's a nuisance.

Throwmoneyatit · 02/05/2025 17:06

What you went through 🤣

Most of MN and the school are laughing at you.

Pedallleur · 02/05/2025 17:07

Any teachers on MN are going to have this thread referenced at school in a 'be careful how you engage with them'
That headteacher was prob thinking it's BH w/end. Tell her something so we can all come back happy.

It won't be long. It's on the MN Facebook page.

Chair to Head: None of us want this hanging over us for the bank holiday, just say whatever to get her to go away. Lick the proverbial arse a bit. And on Tuesday tell Fred he's an dick.
