To be really worried about Reform?

1000 replies

FiveHorse · 29/04/2025 13:09

Just that really. They’re predicted to gain the most from the upcoming elections, if this carries on could we see a reform government at the next general elections? Or is it press scaremongering as usual?

Can anyone explain why being against open borders is so controversial?

It’s not, we don’t have open borders though so not really relevant to this discussion.

I'm English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿.
The Reform Party aren't against immigration , they are against illegal immigration and invasion.

All parties are against illegal immigration. The clue is in the word illegal.

We do. Or are the boat arrivals on the south coast a figment of imagination?

They're not figment of your imagination, but the fact they happen doesn't mean we have open borders. You do also realise that boat arrivals make up a minority of illegal entries to the country, and the majority of illegal migrants are visa overstayers, right?

Yet they do nothing about it 🤔

So we have open borders then.

Thankyou.

Net immigration running at nearly a million and open borders on the south coast. Of course that’s what is being advocated for.

People are sick of it and vote reform. Shock, horror.

Rubbish, next you'll be saying Heroin is legal because people still use it....

Still you've no clue on how to stop boats arriving across the channel....

Funny how this wasn't a problem pre leaving the EU, when we could deport back to France.... Who wanted Brexit... oh yes frog face himself....

Net migration is huge because we left the EU.... it was consistently approx 210k net for years... until we left!

Getting upset ain’t gonna change the fact that Farage is going to win big tomorrow.

EasternStandard · 30/04/2025 07:42

No one was resolving this via low numbers of the last agreement. In the same way Germany and others aren’t.

The only ones who have a chance here are those who get mandate to make changes.

RatalieTatalie · 30/04/2025 07:46

DutchEmerald · 30/04/2025 07:39

Of course they do. Labour have deported 24,000 people without leave to remain since they came to power.

Again, that's not what open borders means.

But I can see you're being deliberately obtuse on this and that no amount of discussion is going to change your mind, so I'll leave you to your willful ignorance.

Ha ha, Still can't tell us how to stop x channel migration.....

..and neither has Farage/Reform... all BS.

Keirawr · 30/04/2025 07:33

They’re not a figment of anyone’s imagination. It’s not illegal to claim asylum, regardless of the means of arrival. There are no safe routes to entry anymore and you must be in the UK
to claim asylum. Change that and you'll
see a lot less boat crossings.

if you don’t have cause to claim
asylum, you can’t enter the country through one of these irregular routes and you can be returned to your country of origin.

the borders are more “closed” than ever since Brexit…and lo and behold it didn’t have the effect on immigration the leave campaign said it would, who knew 🤷🏻‍♀️🙄

This won’t ‘smash the gangs’ as pledged, it’s a very expensive way to get a headline to try to counter Reform.

None of their headlines will lower crossings which is what is shifting support.

Of course it won’t. Deporting people without leave no leave to remain and tackling criminal gangs are two totally separate issues.

the only thing that will lower crossings is opening safe routes

Is that your answer to not wanting Reform to have any power? oh well, you can be even angrier as Farage Hoovers up more council seats and parliamentary seats. Because ranting doesn’t change reality.

That won’t work by itself unless you find that way to stop crossings, ie overcoming laws, as you won’t be able to meet demand.

we’d all like to support the party that can fix the country instantly. But not a single reform voter (or candidate) can tell me what reform will do.

Open borders doesn’t mean what you want it to mean. You can spin it how ever you want. Reality says something different

No, open borders means you can cross into and out of the country freely with no restriction. That isn’t the case in the UK.

Reform getting more council seats is a good thing, we'll all then see he is full of shit....

...as are his supporters.
