How much do you pay your window cleaner?

Particularly interested in answers from people in three bed detached houses.

Mine has gone up in price again. Latest bill is £24 for less than ten minutes work. 9 windows on the house.

Out of interest, are they climbing ladders and actually cleaning the window by hand, or standing on the ground with a karcher like device on a pole?

Van with a tank with some sort of pole device attached.

It's not a 'karcher-like' device. The inside of my husbands van with the tank, filtration system, softeners, mineral levels you'd be surprised how technical it is.

The "climbing ladders" window cleaners are usually the ones who only clean the glass and charge extra for the sills. They also tend to miss huge bits on the corners from where they've reached over and not been able to reach the whole window.

Thanks for the info. I've never had a window cleaner but my neighbours both do. 1 side uses a ladder and the other the cleaning equipment on the pole.

No idea what they charge though.

Partyatno10 · 28/04/2025 13:35

Mine just does the ones at the front and charges £10 East London

I hope that didn't sound snippy by the way!

The tank is really complicated - he's out there every week adjusting the filtering system to ensure that it is 100% pure water. Doing so means that it genuinely provides the best possible clean. He replaces his brush heads every few months - in places where it's hard water, these systems are vital.

Apart from anything - the second you've put your rag in the water bucket on a ladder, you've instantly created dirty water! So I genuinely cannot understand why people prefer it!

24Dogcuddler · 28/04/2025 13:41

£8 every other week 3 bed detached, conservatory. North West.

ThirdStorm · 28/04/2025 13:42

£27 every other month. This is for 10 windows and 2 garage doors. I think this is a good deal.

planthelpadvice · 28/04/2025 13:43

As a customer, I agree there is a difference. Ours brings his own distilled water, he has extenders as well as ladders, he comes inside to do the skylights, everything sparkles around the window afterwards. Well worth it.

niki26 · 28/04/2025 13:45

£20 - semi detached in Surrey. 6 windows and some bifolds doors. He is here for quite a long time though!

BoredZelda · 28/04/2025 13:48

£10 for 13 windows and two double patio doors.

I think the difference might be location. I live on an estate where half a dozen other properties have their windows done on the same day. My mum pays more for hers, but she lives rurally.

The window cleaner might only be doing 10 minutes at your house, but they have to travel to and from your house, and do admin for invoicing and banking etc.

GasPanic · 28/04/2025 13:48

10£ a month. Just cancelled it because it only really needs doing once every 6 months IMO.

BoogieBoogieWoogie · 28/04/2025 13:48

3 storey detached townhouse- £9
using ladders

StrangewaysHereWeCome · 28/04/2025 13:49

Tenner front, back and side. Fiver if no one's in and he can't do the back and side. 3 bed semi in the north. It was £8 until New Year, but he hadn't put his prices up for years so fair enough. He comes when he comes and I have no way of contacting him so it's a good job I'm happy with the service really Grin.

coldscottishmum · 28/04/2025 13:49

£15. 9 windows and the glass panel on the front and back door.

Lijay1 · 28/04/2025 13:50

£16 - 4 bed house with one wall to wall, floor to ceiling window.

Reading above he also does maybe 10 other houses on the road so maybe that does make a difference.
