How much do you pay your window cleaner?

Particularly interested in answers from people in three bed detached houses.

Mine has gone up in price again. Latest bill is £24 for less than ten minutes work. 9 windows on the house.

I’m in a 3 bed semi and pay £7 each month although they aren’t always that regular. 9 windows including French doors.

mugglewump · 28/04/2025 13:08

Mine just does the ones at the front and charges £15.

comealongdobbeh · 28/04/2025 13:08

BeamMeUpp · 28/04/2025 13:12

4 bed detached, £11

AmIHumanOrAmIAYeti · 28/04/2025 13:13

Wow.

We pay £11 for 3 sets of patio doors, front and back door, bay window, 10 windows and 2 velux windows. (It’s a big house!)

Ashesof2046 · 28/04/2025 13:14

I'm in the North West. We pay £14 and we have 14 windows!

GRex · 28/04/2025 13:14

£25 outside , £25 inside. Bigger house though and lots of windows including skylights. He cleans the cills and shutters, outsides of windows too, and he asked if he could oil a hinge once. More of a window everything-er than just a cleaner.

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 28/04/2025 13:15

3 bed semi in the north west. £8.50, every 3 weeks.

ItsARiot · 28/04/2025 13:19

Semi detached house. Our window cleaner does 9 windows plus French doors. Charges £9 but we just give him a tenner. NW

EleventyThree · 28/04/2025 13:22

Ours charges £1 per window! We have 9 windows, so £9 every few weeks.

Spanador · 28/04/2025 13:22

We've been paying £20 a time for 4 windows on a first floor flat😳these figures are making me think we are paying way too much, but all the local ones quoted us the same sort of price

GroovyChick87 · 28/04/2025 13:22

£7.50, front of terraced house.

itsnotabouthepasta · 28/04/2025 13:23

My husband runs a window cleaning company.

Your window cleaner will have to price according to the following:

  • Public liability insurance
  • Equipment - maintenance and replacement (brushes, hoses, filters, water, softeners)
  • Travel - mileage
  • Van maintenance
  • National insurance / Tax
  • Database software, website hosting, phone, email
  • Banking - especially if having a business bank account
  • Salary - plus cover for sick pay/holiday pay

All of these costs are going up constantly and need to be brought into the pricing structure.

Your price will depend on a) how often you have your windows cleaned, b) travel - are you easily fit into the rounds? If his travel time prevents him from taking on other houses, that's factored into the pricing structure

My husband typically charges anywhere between £10-£45 depending on how many windows, the size of them, are they easy to get to? Do you have a conservatory that needs doing? Are there skylights/solar panels that need cleaning? Is there easy access to the back of the house or does he need to bring in his window cleaning back pack that allows him to come through terrace houses without using a hose), is the windows particularly dirty due to birds etc? Does the customer want the oldfashioned squegee or water fed pole method? Because one takes 1 hour, one takes 15 mins.

£15 once a month for all windows up and down,. including three Velux on a sloping roof and four doors (two are french doors). North West here.

JDM625 · 28/04/2025 13:25

Out of interest, are they climbing ladders and actually cleaning the window by hand, or standing on the ground with a karcher like device on a pole?

feelingbleh · 28/04/2025 13:25

Terraced house 5 windows. For a one of clean £20 outside and £30 inside its a lot cheaper the more often you do it. I think its £12 outside for 4 weekly clean. This includes doors, sills, frames etc

It's not a 'karcher-like' device. The inside of my husbands van with the tank, filtration system, softeners, mineral levels you'd be surprised how technical it is.

The "climbing ladders" window cleaners are usually the ones who only clean the glass and charge extra for the sills. They also tend to miss huge bits on the corners from where they've reached over and not been able to reach the whole window.

Thatroomismine · 28/04/2025 13:29

12 windows, 1 set French doors (4 bed semi). £7.

Meant to mention this. Ours clean by hand and use ladders. No fancy equipment!

yeesh · 28/04/2025 13:31

£5 for just the front of the house

letsnotIRL · 28/04/2025 13:31

North East here, we pay £5 a fortnight, 3 bed property with huge French doors.
