Do you hate scented washing conditioner/pods?

If someone’s used highly scented washing products on their clothes, I can’t stand it.

For me.. a (non) scented laundry powder/liquid and washing dried outside is perfect!

Light hearted - DF does, I do not

I will take it on the chin if I’m proved to be wrong!

Where can you even buy unscented? Every kind has a “flavour” in my local supermarket

Aldi do one.

I've always used Comfort original but I can't smell it on the clothes (only in the bottle). Maybe I've gone noseblind too. Is the blue Lenor a reasonable scent to try instead? I do need something otherwise the static is horrendous.

I usually use the blue skies one, but another favourite is comfort pure. The lenor outdoors ones are nice, I like the yellow one.

I haven’t used fabric conditioner for about 20 years. I haven’t noticed any issue with static - could it be a tumble dryer setting that off? I don’t have one. Maybe the conditioner is needed to counteract the tumbler?

Horrible, artificial fragrance is one of the commonest allergies around.

I use Surcare and/or Ecover zero brands mostly. Surcare seems to be the most widely available. M&S also do a sensitive range that’s unfragranced.

Bio-d also do a number of unfragranced options but that’s mostly buying online.

Thank you all for your replies. It seems like a yes or no thing. Have to say for everyone who’s mentioned comfort I haven’t actually smelt that (not one she uses) but it seems to be popular.

P.S Asking for a friend.. is it a sign you are getting older when the washing is at the forefront of your mind!?

Very probably but I have to use it. Our house has a perpetual rain cloud over it and yet if you go a few streets further away you would have normal weather. I blame the sharp incline nearby.

@TrixieFatell thank you.

Edited

If I wake up and the sun is out, my mind straight away goes to getting a wash on.

Stopped using fabric conditioner about 10 years ago as with our very hard water it seemed to clog the machine up. Now use Surf, plenty smelly enough for us!

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 24/04/2025 18:42

I think most on Mumsnet hate perfumes and scent.

I love them. Maybe it’s because I’m French but scent is so important to me.

I also used to work in aromatherapy so I often make my own perfume oil and fabric softener scents.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/04/2025 18:49

I bought Aldi coconut powder and the 3in1 pods (depending on what I'm washing) and Sainsburys non bio 3in1 pods.
Really nice
But I do agree with drying properly , I was sitting behind a man last week who bloody stunk of Damp Clothes . That made me😫

Yes and I hate it when I visit somewhere and the bed linen is scented - makes me feel queasy

Yes this is the worst. Find it hard to sleep when the bedclothes have a horrible chemical perfumery smell.

Scousemousey · 24/04/2025 20:46

I avoid all the heavily fragranced washing products, they all smell too strong to me. There is also the fact that they are bad for your health, particularly children and pregnant women. Look up phthalates. They are very harmful to humans.

QueefQueen80s · 24/04/2025 20:49

Definitely scented, I love smelling it on others

Line dry washing smells of wind 😂

lunaemma · 24/04/2025 20:59

I prefer scent but only certain ones
persil bio with fairy honey scent boosters
surf winter solstice or deep sea
