Not a cooking term but people who call whole milk "fat milk" or classic Cola " fat coke" in cafes/restaurants. Doesn't make it sound appealing

I can’t stand the affectation on lots of meal suggestion posts on here - everything being served with ‘crusty bread’, I don’t know why but it really makes me cringe.

Cook off and fry off, it's cook and fry. Also every ingredient described as beautiful, as opposed to ugly? Hand finished crisps. Sounds disgusting. Smashed avocado and now smash burgers. Piss off.

We refer to sides and mains in the restaurant as its quicker when communicating ('mains away table 2'). Plate up is also a restaurant term which thanks to all the TV chefs has made its way into every day use. As long term restaurant owners (and working in not just owning) we use all sorts of terms at home which come from being in the industry.....

But I really hate 'dirty' as it's not a good association with food!

This is an MN one but I hate it when people trying talk about "chucking" food. "Just chuck a pizza in the oven" or "chuck in some herbs."

Greggggg on Masterchef (thank god he's gone) was always talking about food being "slippery" which made me feel sick.

This one did make me chuckle. Especially as whatever is being fried, in the pan, is often bunged in the oven for 5 minutes afterwards to finish off.

Although, doubting myself here, you could have deep fried.
Air fried?
Car bonnet fried...

The list is clearly not endless. Hmm.

I still sort of agree though...
