To ask if you eat some of the same foods every day?

SunsetsOnTheCoast · 23/04/2025 15:33

Just wondering how usual or unusual it is to eat some of the same foods every day, after someone commented that it was ‘weird’ that I do. They said it because I eat an apple, nuts and a yogurt every day and mostly only eat the same few things for breakfast. I eat lots of different foods for lunches, dinners and snacks so I have a varied diet overall. Is it really so ‘weird’?

I eat the same things every day, as I have IBS and most foods make me ill, I just have a few that I can tolerate

ambercabs · 23/04/2025 15:35

I do but I’m autistic so tend to stick to ‘safe’ foods

QwestSprout · 23/04/2025 15:36

IBS, GORD and autism - I have the same breakfast 99 days out of 100.

Stickortwigs · 23/04/2025 15:36

I eat the same cereal everyday as I don’t like many, usually have cheese for lunch in some form and a Tunnocks teacake every afternoon. But I don’t repeat the same evening meal for two months.

Expletive · 23/04/2025 15:37

Toast.

Lazlothevampire · 23/04/2025 15:40

I do. I eat mostly fish and red meat with butter, with kefir or Greek yogurt and nuts. Some green veg and eggs some days. Sometimes I’ll have carrot and celery juices too.

im coelic and had lots of other issues. I stick to the above and I feel fucking amazing, full of energy and I’m not in pain from my joints, so why rock the boat.

Hollyhobbi · 23/04/2025 15:41

I usually have the same lunch and breakfast. Because I’m on warfarin it helps keep my levels stable!

Perkuppaige · 23/04/2025 15:44

Of course - there are some staples that I make sure I eat everyday - nuts, seeds, Greek yogurt, legumes etc, of course my main meals change but the ingredients are very similar daily.

Cyclingandrunning · 23/04/2025 15:44

I go in cycles. Atm I eat fruit, oats and yogurt for breakfast everyday. I do love it but I will get bored of it at some point and find a new favourite breakfast.

Dinners, I change every evening (or every other evening if there are left overs to finish off) but some dinners pop in frequently ie curry/chilli/stir fry

SatsumaDog · 23/04/2025 15:44

I eat pretty much the same things most days. I follow very specific macros and it makes life easier if I eat the same things. It only varies if I eat out or at someone else’s house.

SnugReader · 23/04/2025 15:45

Most people eat much of the same things most of the time.

BangersAndGnash · 23/04/2025 15:48

I have the same breakfast every day unless I am away from home. Greek yog, oat bran, flax seeds, walnuts, frozen blueberries. I might swap the type of berries for have other fruit.

Lunch at home is always one slice of wholemeal sourdough with some protein and salad, or with soup.

Dinner: very varied, no plan, regularity or habitual preferences.

HippyKayYay · 23/04/2025 15:50

I think it's pretty 'normal' to eat the same, or similar, breakfast everyday. I do. Well, I rotate through a few staples. My kids certainly do. I don't know many people who are whipping up something new and creative every morning!

Lunch, again, I cycle through a bunch of 'regular' meals depending on what I fancy. What's in my 'regulars' will shift over time, but at any one time (e.g. over a three month period) I'd say I typically rotate through a smallish set of lunches.

Dinner - meal rotation is the norm with most other families I know. We have the same thing for dinner every Monday night (and joke that's how we know it's Monday!).

So, no, I don't think it's 'weird' at all.

Same. My diet is very "same-y".

SpottedDonkey · 23/04/2025 15:52

In my experience most people who work in 9-5 type jobs have fairly set routines, including having the same breakfast most days. When I worked in an office I had weetabix, juice & tea almost every weekday morning for 20+ years.

Now, I WFH and I have a plate of chopped raw veggies with low fat hummus and an apple mid afternoon every weekday.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 23/04/2025 15:53

Currently eating a lot of the same stuff.

Protein yogurt for breakfast. Or greek yogurt, series granola.
Ryvita, philadelphia, crudités, houmous. Fir lunch.
Dinner invariably chicken/fish, salad/roasted veg/stir fry.
Snacks fruit, dried fruit, nuts.

Sometimes have eggs in sone form.

I eat 50g of prunes every day (for bone density)
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35798020/

Two Brazil nuts (for selenium)

1-2 cups of tea, 1-2 cups of green tea, 1 coffee with cream

At least one square of dark chocolate

10 grams of collagen powder in a cup of warm milk with some raw cocoa powder.

Everything else varies.

Do you know, I was reading about prunes and bone density this morning. I’ve had to knock everything bar walking on the head at the moment as I’ve got a problem with my SI joint and as a coeliac, bone density is on my mind. Will definitely be adding them to my shopping list.

ScottishEggs · 23/04/2025 15:57

I would say I eat pretty much the same breakfasts and lunches every day. I have nuts every single day. Dinners are all different and I can't abide eating the same dinner twice in a row.

How many prunes is 50g?

Sofiewoo · 23/04/2025 16:00

I hate eating the same food back to back, I try to change things up as much as possible.

How many prunes is 50g?

Around 6, I’ve read. I hate them. But then, with coeliac, I can’t eat much of what I used to love anyway (I don’t eat GF alternatives), so I’ll stomach them for the benefits.

ehb102 · 23/04/2025 16:04

I eat the same breakfast every day. There are only so many calorie controlled nutritionally balance meals that fit my macro that I can face before 9am. It'll be porridge for months then eggs for months.

GildedRage · 23/04/2025 16:07

dh and i have the "same" three breakfast options on rotation; pancakes, oatmeal, toast and egg. occasionally we will switch from oatmeal to yogurt based on the fresh fruit options. lunch, soup or sandwich. various dinners.
