To ask if you eat some of the same foods every day?

Just wondering how usual or unusual it is to eat some of the same foods every day, after someone commented that it was ‘weird’ that I do. They said it because I eat an apple, nuts and a yogurt every day and mostly only eat the same few things for breakfast. I eat lots of different foods for lunches, dinners and snacks so I have a varied diet overall. Is it really so ‘weird’?

How many prunes is 50g?

It depends on the prunes, but @Lazlothevampire is right - when I've measured, or rather, weighed, it's around 6.

I love them, so it's not a hardship for me 😋

I think it’s pretty normal to eat something like fruit and yogurt, maybe with nuts, every day. I don’t necessarily eat exactly the same fruit or nuts though.

SunsetsOnTheCoast · 23/04/2025 16:25

Thanks everyone. It seems it’s not so weird then, not that I was convinced it was.

Thanks @user499978802 for that information about prunes. I eat them a couple of times a week on porridge but I’ll try to eat more. I’m vegan so I’m always mindful of bone density so anything that may help is worth a go.

I have the same breakfast every day unless I am away from home. Greek yog, oat bran, flax seeds, walnuts, frozen blueberries. I might swap the type of berries for have other fruit.

Lunch at home is always one slice of wholemeal sourdough with some protein and salad, or with soup.

Dinner: very varied, no plan, regularity or habitual preferences.

I have an absolutely identical breakfast to you! Every day. I might have a teaspoon of honey too but otherwise it’s the same every day. Love it!

I have the same breakfast every morning: two smoothies and a high protein yoghurt.

I have porridge for breakfast most days. The toppings change a little but these are the standard choices -
Banana
Sultanas
Banana and Sultanas
Banana and strawberries

I do, but I'm autistic and have crippling ARFID. My list of safe foods would make some MNers cringe Blush

I tend to hyperfixate on certain foods and I'll eat them every day until I sicken myself, then I have to find something else.

I would say I eat pretty much the same breakfasts and lunches every day. I have nuts every single day. Dinners are all different and I can't abide eating the same dinner twice in a row.

This is such a good point. I am the same... I can definitely eat the same breakfast every day. Lunch I prefer to have something different, but definitely eat the same thing several times a week. Dinner I would feel an aberation if I have even the same thing twice in a week...

No. I like variety: kiwi one day, watermelon the next etc, pink grapefruit, strawberries, blueberries. I eat 3 or 4 different breakfasts, don't have the same lunch for a fortnight, different evening meals don't have the same for a fortnight to 3 weeks.

countrygirl99 · 23/04/2025 17:30

I eat the same breakfast most days. Porridge in winter, Greek yoghurt and berries in the summer. Lunch and dinner vary a lot. I do eat a lot of fruit as snacks so pears and tangerines will feature most days but with seasonal/special offer variations.

minnienono · 23/04/2025 17:30

Most people have a more limited breakfast palate both for convenience and simply habit. My favourite breakfast is Indian style but I’m not whipping that up before work! Cereal, toast or yogurt and fruit on weekdays and eggs on a weekend is my choices. Currently I’m on slightly stale hot cross buns

TimeSquared · 23/04/2025 17:59

Happily eat same breakfast (granola) and lunch (soup) and same dinner each night of the working wrek

Fizbosshoes · 23/04/2025 18:03

I have the same breakfast Monday - Friday.

And I aways have a few squares of chocolate at lunch (as well as something healthier!)

I usually have the same lunch and breakfast. Because I’m on warfarin it helps keep my levels stable!

Off topic, but Warfarin is seen as rather out dated for many patients requirements. Is there a specific reason you’re still on it? Have you been offered modern versions like Apixaban? Mich easier to keep stable. @Hollyhobbi

Spinachpastapicker · 23/04/2025 18:57

I think a lot of people eat a similar breakfast every day, or only have a few variations.

JaceLancs · 23/04/2025 19:12

Not every single day - but for breakfast and lunch I rotate 3-4 things constantly
Evening meals we try not to eat the same things too often
