It's St George's which should be a national celebration.

Yet nothing

"They wind each other up. They're always talking about how 'terrified' they are."

"Yep, it's all "I'm so scared for my childrens/grandchildren future. It breaks my heart" etc etc. All because they've seen a few brown people."

""Saw them at the shopping centre. Sat on the benches they were. Terrifying!"
"Do you remember when no one locked their doors and everyone sang roll out the barrel?""

I agree it's annoying to see these people wind each other up...but no more than you're all doing here. You're all as bad as one another, two cheeks of the same arse. Just look at this thread, whipping eachother up with fake ignorant posts that you've all imagined.

Doesn't matter. People in England need to celebrate

I'm sure Laurance Fox has got something organised. This is right up his street.

Excuse me? "Very White"? Fucking vile, racist post. Being White and hanging a flag does not make people racist. Nor does it make them idiots.

Anyway OP, despite the fact that a bunch of middle class mummies chomp at the bit each year to point out that "hE wAsn'T eVeN eNgLisH hAHa U rAciSts WoUlDn'T eVeN LEt hIM iN tHe cOuNTrY iF he wAs aLiVe tOdaY" and jump at the chance to abuse people with "gammon" etc St.George celebrations aren't unique to England, many countries also celebrate. So feel free to celebrate in your own way and don't be perturbed by the hateful comments.

I'm in Catalonia and even our tiny town had a little parade, some people dressed up and a lovely lady gave me a single red rose when I walked past her! I didn't see anyone calling them "racist" despite the massive amount of flags decorating the streets.

Lol it's a very white area as in its not multicultural. They're idiots because the union flag isnt for St George the St George's flag is.

Im white British 😂.

In those flags defence......a lot of places have started decorating for the 80th anniversary of VE Day celebrations.
I've seen a lot of Union Flags being put up.

TheHateIsNotGood · 23/04/2025 21:21

St George's Flag is a white background with a Red Cross, if anyone is flying a Union Flag then they're not flying a Flag for George and the Dragon, the myth of it all, the itty-bitty English Flag.

Even the Englishers don't care a fucklet enough to demand a public holiday and why on earth the myriad of folks give more of a feck is their problem; I'm a Brit, like many a mongrel and let people fly whatever flag they want to.

Even flags that celebrate fairytales and myths like the English one does.

St George's Day will be on Monday for everyone who isn't a plastic patriot.

Heggettypeg · 23/04/2025 22:33

There's more to St George than you'd think. In Croatia (maybe in some other places too), he's more like the Green Man, the spirit of nature and Spring and fertility.

ExtraOnions · 23/04/2025 22:39

If it wasn’t for St George you would all be speaking Dragon now …

Itsallabouttea · 23/04/2025 22:43

Heggettypeg · 23/04/2025 14:35

It's also, apparently, International Pallas's Cat Day.

I'm fully on board with international Pallas cat day, they're excellent

ToWhitToWhoo · 23/04/2025 22:44

First of all, the C of E moved St George's Day from the 23rd to the 28th this year, due to a clash with Easter Week. Many people have been celebrating today anyway, but it's actually not St George's Day officially. Secondly, why would you expect it to be on your Teams, unless you use Teams for an unusual purpose? Usually Teams is for work meetings.

ToWhitToWhoo · 23/04/2025 22:51

But yes, we're all getting so woke that we'll end up replacing St George's Day with a celebration of some bloody foreigner like a Greek who was born in what is now Turkey and died in Syria...Oh, um, actually that is St George's Day!

ExtraOnions · 23/04/2025 22:52

Maybe we could have St George Michael day ??? I think that’s something we can all get onboard with

ThinWomansBrain · 23/04/2025 23:04

BusyAzureFatball · 23/04/2025 13:15

Because it's where we communicate?

"we" - who is we? if you mean your workplace, i'd generally expect work teams groups to be focussed on work related matters, but if your workplace teams is of a chattier nature, what stopped you communicating "happy St George's day" on it?

If you use this site, you can post happy whatever day whenever you like
