To just want nice toilets

Honestly - toilets should all be unisex and completely self contained (floor to ceiling) , lockable with a wash basin in there, a hook for bags and room for a toddler and lots of loo paper.
With glass doors for the entry into the toilet area.
Then all this worry about who else is using them would stop.

Our nearest M & S Food used to have separate men's and women's toilets. Then they ripped them out and there are now 4 "unisex" and 2 disabled. Every time I've gone to use one of the (not disabled - haven't looked in those) they're absolutely filthy and awash with piss. The women's NEVER used to be.

I’ve raised this with DH and he said the gents weren’t awash with piss either. His conclusion was that it was due to women hovering rather than sitting.

Timmygnome · 22/04/2025 12:34

Yuk no thanks
Men always piss all over the seat in unisex toilets
No I don't want to share toilets with random men

Provide urinals and men won’t need to piss in the toilets at all.

Everybody will be happy.

RobinEllacotStrike · 22/04/2025 12:40

Why should women & girls have to give up their valued single sex spaces in the world so a few men with lady feels aren't upset they can't access the ladies loo?

Young girls don't want to share spaces with men using urinals thanks.

CrownCoats · 22/04/2025 12:42

I don’t want to use toilets that have been used by men. They are always dirtier. My husband and brother agree. Piss everywhere and no one washes their hands.

IceColdChardonayPls · 22/04/2025 12:42

I don’t know what you mean by glass doors? So that you can see through them? Why?

ThisIsItNowOrNever · 22/04/2025 12:44

Fascinating to see how the court ruling has led to all the women's right haters to pop up like mushrooms all over MN.

Do men want to get their penises out in front of queuing women? Do women want to watch men using urinals whilst queuing? It's a ridiculous idea, that leaves almost everyone feeling uncomfortable.

BiologicalRobot · 22/04/2025 12:46

No thanks. I still want to get away from men.

The fully enclosed cubicles are dangerous for anyone having a medical episode, and the ones that have a gap are a voyeurs wet dream. It's also well documented that women and girls are more likely to be assaulted in mixed sex toilet areas. Just give me my single sex areas back.

user2848502016 · 22/04/2025 12:48

Yeah but all unisex toilets I’ve been to have been disgusting with the seats left up and piss on the floor. Also because of needing a space for the sink no chance of just keeping your hand on the door to keep it shut while you have a quick wee if the lock is broken. Not that I would do that in mixed sex loos anyway….

I don't want women in our toilets with their scented candles and pot pouri. We'll take the fellas in dresses, and they can live with their life choices.

Blimey where are these fantastic toilets?

Don’t really want my 10 & 14 year old DDs walking past a load of men with their willies out thanks!

Unisex toilets are grim! My toilets at home aren't much better (DH & DS are seemingly both a terrible aim) 🤣

This. A big no to unisex toilets.

Exactly! And no normal man would feel comfortable in this situation either. It's a paedo/flashers wet dream!

krustykittens · 22/04/2025 12:53

You know it's about so much more than toilets, don't you?

burnoutbabe · 22/04/2025 12:55

ruchard on good morning Britain was asking the women’s minister where these trans women in pubs with only men’s and women’s and no unisex should wee. As they “can’t go in the men’s” and not allowed in women’s.

surely don’t attend a pub that is so rough that you are worried you will get attacked in the genus if you went in as a trans women?

but more importantly what about sll the disabled people who can’t access either loo as they are just badly designed. Doesn’t that affect far more people than this issue? Most of the local pubs near me don’t seem at all accessible if you had a wheelchair for example.

I hate standing in a queue with only men waiting for the single stalls. Then there's piss covered seats. Then the men's inevitable farting and grunting. I'm AuDHD with PTSD and sensory processing disorder and it makes me physically sick. I don't feel particularly comfortable in a stall right beside them. I prefer a private space or one where only women go.

Women fart too. 😃

BelfastBard · 22/04/2025 12:59

Have you ever looked into the history of why feminists campaigned for single sex toilets to begin with?
Or looked at the statistics around sexual assaults in gender neutral/mixed sex facilities vs women’s toilets?
Perhaps spend some time properly researching that and then come back to us with your conclusions…

Arran2024 · 22/04/2025 13:01

My daughter has epilepsy and wouldn't use a disabled toilet unless she was accompanied as the set up isn't ideal if you have seizures. They are more useful for other disabilities like wheelchair use or digestive issues, I think. But we can't have everything.

But I definitely don't want individual unisex toilets. When I have encountered them they have been horrible - pee all over the seats and floors.

We had separate facilities for men and women for good reasons which haven't gone away.

Imo men should not have access to cubicles used by women. It may be unusual to experience a problem but it isn't like it never happens. Boys have been hiding cameras in cubicles because of the access this set up gives them for starters.

But I'm particularly concerned with the state of the facilities.

FedupofArsenalgame · 22/04/2025 12:26

Do you have a seperate loo at home?

She generally won't have a queue of unrelated men waiting to use her home toilet.

OverpricedCupcake · 22/04/2025 13:03

I want single sex toilets that men stay out of.

luckylavender · 22/04/2025 13:06

doodahdayy · 22/04/2025 11:49

Women also piss on the seats and don’t clean up their shit properly in female toilets but I do think they should be kept single sex for safety purposes. Glass doors won’t cut it.

Woman also leave blood about the place

turkeyboots · 22/04/2025 13:06

I also want nice toilets. But unisex, all in one room ones are almost always filthy.
Bring back toilet attendants. I'll happily pay a bit for a regually cleaned toilet. A busy restaurant toilets will need a clean at least 3 or 4 times a day.
