Hi877 · 20/04/2025 22:15

Would someone be unreasonable to be annoyed if a grandparent got one grandchild (age 5) 2 easter eggs and the other (10 months old) no eggs

LSTMS30555 · 21/04/2025 02:52

@IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle How exactly is it ridiculous?
It's Easter and chocolate eggs are Easter gifts and (shock fucking horror) Kids including babies like chocolate.

Your ridiculous for thinking otherwise.

And for everyone else saying babies don't need chocolate well guess what nobody needs fucking chocolate but still eat it!

LSTMS30555 · 21/04/2025 02:53

@NattyTurtle59 but the child's mother knows her parents clearly favour their other grandchild.
So what point are you making?

Lostsadandconfused · 21/04/2025 02:55

Why do you need to buy anything for a 10 month old? They have no idea of the concept of Easter, or even what a present is.

dogsandcatsandhorses · 21/04/2025 03:17

Hi877 · 20/04/2025 22:17

Thanks. The baby already got 6 eggs and 1 chocolate bunny

I doubt a 10 month old is keeping count and that is a lot of chocolate!
Sometimes gp give the dgc sweets and they’re rotting their teeth, other times they don’t and they’re mean. Can’t win.

LillyPJ · 21/04/2025 03:18

I'd be happy they got 2 eggs for one child and glad they'd not been daft enough to waste money on an egg for a 10 month old.

Oh dont be ridiculous!

How on earth is not buying a box of expensive crap chocolate for a child that wont (or at least shouldnt) eat it, is proof of favouring one grandchild over another?!

This sounds like the same poster who bought special outfits and "props" (whatever the hell they are) for SM photos for childs first Easter.

@Hi877 Did they buy an egg for your 5 year old at their first or second easter?

DoYaKnowTheFiveLamps · 21/04/2025 03:22

How would a ten month old even eat an easter egg? They don’t have all their teeth yet.

SouthLondonMum22 · 21/04/2025 03:39

DoYaKnowTheFiveLamps · 21/04/2025 03:22

Like a 10 month old would eat any other food?

Hard chocolate? At least leave it out of the fridge for a bit.

Starlight7080 · 21/04/2025 03:44

Any sensible person knows a 10 month old does not need chocolate .

That's mental. I hope they are not actually eating any?

My 11 month old twins happily tucked into chocolate today with no issues and they don't have all of their teeth yet. Just stayed away from choking hazards such as mini eggs.

Zanzara · 21/04/2025 03:50

I didn't get my young GC Easter eggs. The older one goes nuts if he gets a sugar rush and the little one's too young. I sent their Mum some money for a family treat.

LSTMS30555 · 21/04/2025 04:00

@PyongyangKipperbang no your binging ridiculous, if they buy for 1 buy for all.
Also as previously stated (repeatedly) NOBODY NEEDS CHOCOLATE BE IT BABY, TODDLER, TEEN OR ADULT!
So again what's your point?
Why can't the baby; nearly 1yr old have an Easter Egg?

101Nutella · 21/04/2025 04:05

I’m sure the NHS guidelines say no additional sugar in products (eg outside of the naturally occurring sugar) until 2yrs! Mirrored in other guidelines too.

so to expect chocolate for a 10 month old is inappropriate. Your sister is BU. Easter isn’t Christmas, I’m sure when the baby is old enough your parents will give them an egg too!

sesquipedalian · 21/04/2025 04:12

“The baby already got 6 eggs and 1 chocolate bunny”

I am astounded. You do know the guidelines say no sugar for such little ones? I hope someone brushes this poor child’s teeth.

That's just ridiculous. No child needs that much chocolate

LBFseBrom · 21/04/2025 04:33

Yes. The baby does not need sn Easter egg, her time will come!

Silvertulips · 21/04/2025 04:55

I think it is unfair - I have 3 DN ones a baby - I buy ‘the baby’ his mothers favorite egg -why wouldn’t you?

Im sure this isn’t the first problem the sister has had with parents

Iloveburgerswaymorethanishould · 21/04/2025 05:02

I have one GD, (2) one SGD (8 months) and my youngest son is 5. I had a huge ass balloon gift thing made for my GD with bits and bobs and some chocolate in for my GD. My little boy got a million (seems like it anyway) eggs, that I’ll take one for the team and help him eat and my lovely baby SGD I had made a personalised bunny teddy, popped in a basket with some wind up chicks and a few cute outfits…. Oh and two white chocolate eggs even though her mum had said she wasn’t even trying chocolate yet…. When I handed the basket I said “ the eggs are for you two…. Sometimes people just buy, as that’s the done thing. I won’t be offended if it’s not eaten!! It’s the thought that counts. Well usually…: I got zero eggs from anyone!! lol!!

DreamTheMoors · 21/04/2025 05:43

My parent’s anniversary was in November and Dad got Mum a beautiful pearl necklace.
My 2 sisters and I oohed & ahhed over it.
At Christmas, there was an identical necklace waiting for each of us. We were thrilled.
We oohed and ahhed over Dad.
Dad started buying much thriftier gifts for Mum, but his taste never faltered, just in case.
And even still, one of my sisters was always afraid that she - or one her kids - was going to be cheated out of something by someone.
If you get one chocolate egg for one person, make sure you get chocolate eggs for everybody.
Life’s much easier and far happier that way.

@NattyTurtle59 but the child's mother knows her parents clearly favour their other grandchild.
So what point are you making?

The point is that the baby doesn't care so why is it so upsetting for the child's mother? Presumably when the child is old enough for an Easter egg then it will get one, in the meantime the grandparents are showing a bit of common sense, which is sadly lacking in many of the posters on this thread.

Because it's not what you give to babies of that age. If you want to ruin your kids' health then that is your business, but others have a few more clues.

Using capital letters does not make your argument any more viable.

Exactly. It's just an idiot parent whining over nothing.

Not upset, so much, no.

I know someone who would’ve taken her 2-day-old baby not receiving an Easter egg when all the teenagers did the MOST INSULTING THING TO HAPPEN SINCE LAST EASTER!!
Lol and I’m only half joking. She goes out of her way to be offended. She hunts for things to be offended by.
She’s perpetually offended.
