Would someone be unreasonable to be annoyed if a grandparent got one grandchild (age 5) 2 easter eggs and the other (10 months old) no eggs

OP posts:
Talkwhilstyouwalk · 20/04/2025 22:27

I wouldn't encourage a 10 year old to eat Easter eggs no!

0ohLarLar · 20/04/2025 22:30

In my family an easter themed book or something would be given for the baby instead.

Trumptonagain · 20/04/2025 22:35

Wouldn't have been an egg but I'd have definitely bought the baby an Easter bunny soft toy or such like.

RawBloomers · 20/04/2025 22:37

I'd be not exactly annoyed but rolly-eyed if a grandparent got my 10 month old an easter egg.

Thismomlikesknitting · 20/04/2025 22:40

I wouldnt be happy if someone brought my 10 month old an easter egg they don't need chocolate at that age.

LSTMS30555 · 20/04/2025 23:09

Well no one needs chocolate at any age 🤷🏻‍♀️
I got my 9 month old granddaughter a Thorntons white chocolate egg (she's only had a little up to now) but she liked it.

I think it's cruel of the grandparents not getting both children Easter gifts; horrible to give to 1 of their grandchildren but not the other.

People do a lot of cruel things to children. Deciding not to buy a small baby a large chocolate egg is not one of them.

at that age the baby has no idea what the hell is going on. The gifts are for the adults, for their enjoyment.

wise up.

No. My 10 month old didn't eat chocolate.

Crazybaby123 · 20/04/2025 23:38

Why would you buy a 10 month old an easter egg??

Firawla · 20/04/2025 23:40

6 Easter eggs for a baby?! Is your sister mad. That child will be obese by the age of about 3 if that’s actually how she is carrying on.
whole thing is ridiculous

LSTMS30555 · 20/04/2025 23:43

@Bellyblueboy what you on about "wise up" Yes it is cruel & nasty to treat their grandchildren differently so why don't you wise up.

Tbrh · 20/04/2025 23:46

I wouldn't be feeding my 10 month chocolate. YABVU, ridiculous infact

SnugMintFawn · 20/04/2025 23:47

I agree that a 10 month old doesn’t need an Easter egg, but I think they should have been given something - if nothing else, to set the tone for the 5 year old that they are treated equally by their grandparents/whoever.

Lorlorlorikeet · 20/04/2025 23:51

Stripeyanddotty · 20/04/2025 22:20

Why would you not say all that in your first post??

Because she wanted people to lay into her for being ‘ridiculous’ for expecting an egg for a ten month old, for her to triumphantly reveal it is in fact her sister.

It's 10 months old, it won't know any different. These comments are utterly insane. This is why children grow up to be entitled, little brats because of their parents materialistic attitudes

BeaLola · 21/04/2025 00:00

When your DD was a baby did your parents buy her Easter Eggs? If not perhaps tell your sister that before she combusts with rage

That’s your bitchy take on it .

DiscoBeat · 21/04/2025 01:02

10 month old babies don't need chocolate.

StarTwirl · 21/04/2025 01:04

Who on earth gives a baby an Easter egg ?

that’s just bonkers

Monty27 · 21/04/2025 02:16

@Hi877 why did dd get 2 eggs?

SouthLondonMum22 · 21/04/2025 02:19

My twins are about to turn 1 and they've definitely had some chocolate today but I also wouldn't care if someone didn't get them an egg.

Don’t be daft. A 10 month old and a 5 year old shouldn’t be treated the same, there is a good 4 years difference between them.

kaela100 · 21/04/2025 02:29

10 month olds wouldn't receive eggs but I'd expect them to get a soft toy or a book. It's not right to completely ignore them

I don't actually think a 10 month old is going to be aware of Easter, nor think it "cruel" that they weren't given a gift.
