After death can you see what's happening on earth?

This is something I regularly wonder. Obviously none of us know for sure.

OP posts:

No. Because you’re dead.☠️

Noperope · 20/04/2025 17:14

I hope not, don't want my dead granny watching me mastrubate 😬

I struggle a lot with the concept of death. I like to believe there is something afterwards but not heaven or hell. More like a return to the collective consciousness. Which it is really. Your atoms don't disappear they just get repurposed and scattered into the universe. Your light and reflection will travel out into space and could (theoretically) be viewed by someone thousands of light years away, long after your death. But I don't think we could ever be aware of the minutiae of what happens on earth after we die.

No

Doseofreality · 20/04/2025 17:15

Bloody hope not, my Jewish Nan would not be happy seeing all the none Jewish cock I’ve had!

Groundhogday2025 · 20/04/2025 17:15

I bloody hope not or I’ll have some explaining to do to my dead relatives when I get up there 🫣

Maddy70 · 20/04/2025 17:15

You're dead. It all ends

No. How in earth do you think you can 'see' anything when you're dead? You won't exist and your body will have decayed.

This is true the physical body decays and is no longer. ‘Seeing’ is however no longer the same concept it’s not just about eyes in the human form and how they function. It’s like comparing a camera and a sophisticated radar system . Totally different yet both ways to ‘see’ .

What I mean, is are you aware what's happening on earth? I ask because of psychics saying that the dead person was aware of such a thing and was there with the family etc.

You must be very gullible if you think anything a psychic says has any validity.

OP, are you this gullible in other areas of your life? Psychics seem to be at their strongest channelling old people whose initials might be N, or M, or maybe L, and oh, he’s pointing at his chest — does anyone recognise that? Elderly gentleman who name begins with L,M or N, or maybe T? Might have died of lung cancer? Asthma? Heart failure? Angina? A gunshot wound to the chest? He’s talking about how you’ve changed the carpet in the living room?

ILoveDrivingYey · 20/04/2025 17:24

I doubt it! I wouldn't want some random old man popping up in my bathroom while I pee! Or my mother arriving mid rumpy pumpy with DH!!

And can you imagine the sheer numbers of dead people that have gone before us! Would they all be following us round Tesco checking what we r buying?

Nah, I think when you are dead, you are dead! That's it :) I mean, if not I guess the spirits might get pretty bored in heaven. Only so much eternal joy one can have! I'd get bored up there after 100 years or so, and maybe at that point I'd start gazing down at the earth and having a laugh at what's going on! Loads of things I'd rather not see though, and not sure how you'd know when or where to look!!

I think death is the end. But I'd like to think there was a some kind of energy I return to that my brain is too limited to understand on this mortal earth.

It’s very sad how ‘psychics’ will prey on the vulnerable. I’m not saying I think it’s completely impossible to be able to pick up on something but I think it would be extremely rare. I’d urge anyone who considers it to think about the reasons why and then apply those to living relationships so that the cycle of feeling as if you need contact of some sort doesn’t become a cycle with each death of someone close. For example it may be that you feel you need direction from someone (a parent) perhaps that you always relied on, so that tells you you need to develop self belief. You may simply miss someone terribly or they had a traumatic death and you want to know they are ok and at peace, that is a very hard thing to come to terms with and it’s hard to get to a place where you can trust your self to believe they are at peace rather than paying a stranger to tell you that .

faerietales · 20/04/2025 17:26

Of course not. Just like you had no awareness of anything before you were born.

Quantum physics is roughly 100 years old. Penicillin was discovered in 1928. Humans are new to the disciplines of the world and we don’t know anything. Those who tout their critical thinking skills should especially be careful not to indulge their hubris. Have some humility instead.

So based on scientific discoveries of the past, you think quantum physics will reveal how Madam Zelda on the pier channelled your granddad complaining about his corns and saying Beryl’s lost earring is behind the fridge, and an afterlife in which the dead float about dropping feathers in people’s gardens and occasionally moving small household items and switching the lights on and off? Snort.

Lascivious · 20/04/2025 17:28

What with ceasing to exist, I’d wager it’s a big fat no.

Dead people are dead. They rot in the ground, or they’re cremated. That’s it.

Hufflemuff · 20/04/2025 17:30

I think so...

I do believe in Mediums, I've been to a few different open evening things where they are talking to a crowd and you're kind of judging their "evidence" against how the person they're speaking with reacts. So you never quite know. However, a close friend lost her partner suddenly about 5 years ago and we went to a medium night as a few friends.

The medium was able to quote so many direct things word for word that we have spoken about in conversations after his death. Really random stuff too - unique names perfectly relayed, places very accurately described and so many things that just would not be relevant to anyone else at all. I'm not a sucker - we listened with the mind to be skeptical but it was so spot on.

The event was a pay on the door, no booking needed thing with no Facebook page - so there's no 'researching the room' taking place. We felt so strongly it was him, that the man's sister booked a reading privately for £50. However - he apologised and said that after 10 minutes he just wasn't getting anything coming through, so gave her all her money back and left. I feel like a con-man would have repeated the same stuff and drivelled on and insisted on keeping the cash. This guy was so adamant unless he can read you, then you get all your cash back.

I've been to about 10 different medium night things and I would say 4 were probably making up about 70% of the stuff they said. I think they have a gift still, but I think some are obviously better than others.

No, absolutely not. Because you're dead.
Psychics are con artists that prey on vulnerable naive people.

itsnotachicken · 20/04/2025 17:41

No. I couldn't think of anything worse than being able to 'see' my children and grandchildren but not being able to be with them.

outofideas2 · 20/04/2025 17:57

My view is that IF you believe in a heaven then you believe you’ll be in a state of bliss. It would be far from bliss if you had to watch your family grieving for you .., Or when you’re dead, you’re dead. So either way, no, you can’t see what’s happening on Earth.

B1indEye · 20/04/2025 18:00

Unless dead people can also type and see this thread how do you think anyone is going to say yes?

Frazzledmummy123 · 20/04/2025 18:03

OP, nobody can really answer your question, however I am open minded to the afterlife. I don't believe people who have passed 'watch' over us though.

I believe there are a tiny number of people who do have a psychic gift, but the majority (about 90 something) per cent of psychics/mediums are fakes. I went to a medium once and they said they had an older lady with grey hair coming through. They then asked me if my grandmother had passed over. I said "You are the medium, why don't you ask her yourself?" 🙄😂

Cynic17 · 20/04/2025 18:04

No. Because you don't exist.

Fgdvevfvdvfbdv · 20/04/2025 18:05

I don’t think there would be much point in being able to see everyone when you are dead - it would be like torture seeing them suffer and not be able to do anything about it, or watching them move on without you.

I think if there is life after death it must be another realm/heaven rather than looking down on what you’ve left behind.

A very similar thing happened to me after I lost my boyfriend at 19. I went to this event with some friends in a different city a couple of years later, and i wasn’t planning to go, so no seat linked to my name or anything like that. I won’t go into details because if people don’t believe it they will be adamant of a way she could have known but what she said to me was impossible to know. I didn’t believe in that kind of thing before this but it did change my opinion of mediums and I think about it often

FigTreeInEurope · 20/04/2025 18:07

I managed to misread "psychics" as "physics" throughout the whole thread, and thought you'd all taken leave of your sense.
