Could be anything really and am hoping it’s this is a lighthearted thread.

I live less than 100 metres from the beach but hardly ever go there. I love “knowing” it’s there but seem to also forget it’s there somehow.

So what do you perhaps take for granted or don’t realise how others would appreciate it?

Live very near an indoor snow slope but never have skied.

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 20/04/2025 08:12

I live close to a lovely forest, perfect for walking and mountain biking, I don't think I've been there since lockdown.

Spangers · 20/04/2025 08:16

I could weep with envy at those big gardens, sadly mine is teeny and I love gardening and have lots of plans for my fantasy garden, if only my DH would let us move house 😞

We have a nice Weber BBQ and a pizza oven that DH moans we never use but they’re a PITA with a small garden and 2 DC running round. If we had the room I’d love an outdoor kitchen space.

In my previous job I worked a stone's throw from the British museum, but how often did I pop in during my lunchtime? That'll be never 😂

I still do- in fairness there’s usually a long queue

Purplecatshopaholic · 20/04/2025 08:18

A fuck ton of kitchen gadgets - blenders, soup makers, cupcake maker, the list goes on. All in the garage as I went through a cooking ‘phase’ and CBA again now!

GinGanGoooooolie · 20/04/2025 08:24

A world heritage site within a mile of my house, beautiful walk to it, stunning once you’re there. I walked there daily when DC were younger and when I had a dog. Went there a lot when the world opened up post covid/we were allowed out. Rarely visit now.

Myblueclematis · 20/04/2025 08:30

Expensive all singing, all dancing Kenwood mixer/food processer/blender with all the attachments. It was a 60th birthday present 10 years ago.

I've probably used it around a dozen times but it's been in the cupboard now for six years. It takes up a lot of room so can't have it out on the work top.

I'd love to pass it on to someone but as it was a gift from my best friend, I'd feel bad about getting rid of it.

A really nice jotul chiminea. It just sits there forlornly looking at me.....

Open top sports car - did 35 miles last year 🙈
Jacuzzi bath used handful of times over 10 years - odd because I used to love a bath. Thank goodness we never got a hot tub.
Bread machine
Soup maker
Slow cooker….the list goes on and on ….

I very nearly went for one of those last time I needed a car. Didn't because I realised I'm always cold, Always have the dog in the car with me and we get about 4 days of summer if that is northern England anyway 🤣

BrightLightTonight · 20/04/2025 08:33

My Vax spot cleaner. I got it when my dog started to have incontinent problems, and a week after I got it, my little dog died.

NewsdeskJC · 20/04/2025 08:33

I am lucky enough to live in a little town in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It's stunning and people come miles to stay, walk, and look at our 900 year old church.
I've been suffering with depression and just stopped walking, looking and enjoying.

This is truly diabolical! Such beauty to behold …

TBF we got masters fatigue at the Uffizi. Oh another Rembrandt, how lovely 🙄 I think it would be better done a bit at a time so you actually appreciate it and don’t get overwhelmed.

A Chanel handbag.

strangeandfamiliar · 20/04/2025 08:41

Weird and very expensive skin peels and exfoliants from my 2024 Liberty advent calendar. Nearly every day this year seemed to be yet another bottle of acidic gloop designed to scourge my skin. Not the treats I had in mind!

I’ve always had convertible cars - love them but this is a two seater that husband thought I’d really like. Granddaughter loves it. Get a four/five seater you’ll love it - could use it today! 😎🤣

Westfacing · 20/04/2025 08:45

I live in inner London and have a garage - don't have a car.

GellerYeller · 20/04/2025 08:45

We are on the (rural) outskirts of a historic city. We’ve never partaken in any of the tourist attractions. Because of the volume of tourists. This thread has inspired me to right that wrong.
Also: Karcher pressure washer, blender/soup maker, velvetiser. DH and the kids use them sporadically though.

Bloody freezing here! Get in yours and go for a spin if it's warm!

I might have a think about it when my current one needs replacing. 🙂

Feetofanurse · 20/04/2025 09:03

My garage which was build in 1971. I’ve lived in my house for 20 years and never managed to park any of my cars in it. Although it does have my lawn mower and random non used things in it. It’s just too small for cars built today.

Oh god I forgot I have a chiminea too, never used it because teeny garden. I have garden living aspirations!

BunnyLake · 20/04/2025 09:27

The beach is a five minute walk away but I haven’t gone near it for many years. Once the kids outgrew buckets and spades I haven’t bothered.

I have a garage and off street parking but no car (gave up driving year’s ago).

A piano, no one in the family plays

Oh yes that. We have one and no one can play. I had images of my kids learning (and me) but it never happened.

The most beautiful writing desk. I'm a writer but never use it, always huddled over my laptop on the living room floor.

Same! I finally got the study I've been dreaming of for past two decades, and I still sit outside on the balcony with my laptop to write.

I would convert it into a home office or gym/playroom!
