Could be anything really and am hoping it’s this is a lighthearted thread.

I live less than 100 metres from the beach but hardly ever go there. I love “knowing” it’s there but seem to also forget it’s there somehow.

So what do you perhaps take for granted or don’t realise how others would appreciate it?

A toasted sandwich maker
An ice-cream maker
A bread maker
A waffle maker.

There seems to be a theme here....

SingleAHF · 20/04/2025 01:18

FOUR fire extinguishers.

Itsoneofthose · 20/04/2025 01:33

Dyson airwrap. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Arniesaxe · 20/04/2025 01:36

My parents live 5 mins from me and have a swimming pool in their garden. I never use it. It mostly operates on a morning and I am not a morning person!🤣

friends got me an innapropriate toy a couple birthdays ago 🤣🤣🤣 never used it and it’s hidden out of fear my kids find it… maybe one day

No…don’t let that go to waste

WhereYouLeftIt · 20/04/2025 01:44

I live a two-minute walk from a cinema, and it's a couple of years since I last used it.

Arniesaxe · 20/04/2025 01:44

A designer ear cuff. Almost £700.

I wore it once and it fell off. I was very upset but was out on an epic piss up looong day/night in a city for a friend's birthday and had to just get on with it. I rang around every pub I'd been in but I knew it was pointless, it was so small.

Got home and undressed and it fell out of my (mesh/fishnet sort of) blouse. It had fallen down my front somehow and got stuck there.

Christ knows how I'd kept it on me all day!

Not put it on since.

MayaPinion · 20/04/2025 01:49

Gym membership. I like knowing I can go for a lovely swim but in practice I’ve been about twice in the last 6 months.

prelovedusername · 20/04/2025 02:13

Top of the range Magimix food processor and a cupboard full of accessories. Bought to replace its 35 yr old predecessor which had given sterling service in its early years. For some reason I felt my kitchen would be incomplete without one.

LBFseBrom · 20/04/2025 02:22

Pressure King Pro.
New vacuum cleaner.
Small dishwasher bought when I downsized to a flat, is still in the hall in box.
Umpteen million other things.

Thirteenblackcat · 20/04/2025 02:25

A bobblator. It removes the bobbles from clothes 😂

Same as you OP. We can see the beach from home but the temperature has to be 25+ for me to want to spend time there.

On the other hand if we had a forest nearby we’d never be out of it.

I live an hour from the Sierra Nevada mountains in California.
It’s been five years for me since I was last up there.
Time to go, honestly.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 20/04/2025 02:32

A beautiful oak kitchen table. It was my dad’s, and we ate so many meals around it.

Then the kids left home. Now DH and I eat off trays in front of the telly and the table is covered in my art stuff and the ironing,

We gather round it when they visit, though 🙂

Arniesaxe · 20/04/2025 02:34

A huge four slice 'naice' toaster.

I never eat toast. It serves the purpose of taking up lots of space in a cupboard in my quite small kitchen

BlueEyedBogWitch · 20/04/2025 02:34

Oh, and a beautiful leather Eames chair and footstool. I coveted one for years, and finally bought one with part of my inheritance.

I never sit in it. Ever. I don’t even know why.

DH loves it, though!

Whatthechicken · 20/04/2025 02:44

An Aga, it used to heat up the hot water so was on all the time. I used to love cooking with it. We updated our bathroom just as fuel prices increased a few years ago and it made sense to get a combi fitted. We turn it on at Christmas though.

A KitchenAid.

And a potentially beautiful pond in the garden, but it’s just overgrown and wild currently. Zero interest in gardening

glittereyelash · 20/04/2025 03:05

We have a custom built barbeque. Used it once in three years. Determined to start using it this summer!

Happyfeet234 · 20/04/2025 03:16

A beautiful white cast iron roll top claw foot bath. I bought this house because of it as the master suite en-suite bathroom was so stunning (Victorian 7 bed) nearly 5 years ago. We are about to move and I’ve had one bath in it. It’s cold on your back above the water. Disappointing.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/04/2025 03:34

Four handbags that I loooove and a gorgeous suede trench. Not expensive, but not cheap, either. All very good quality. One is Coach and 15 years old, two are handmade bought when in Japan and one, plus the trench, is from a former iconic shop that, sadly, closed.
When I wear the trench and carry one of the handmade bags I feel glamorous. 😊
I recently used one of the bags (and wore some nice jewelry) when I took one of my dc to a school mate's birthday and I felt like, See, I'm not always no make-up, pony-tail and workout gear. 😊
(Just most of the time!) 😂

I’m sorry, I hope things improve for you soon x

countingthedays945 · 20/04/2025 05:33

A house nestled at the foot of Skiddaw. In 18 years I never climbed it!

marshmallowfinder · 20/04/2025 06:03

A mountain here too. Beautiful views from my window and out of the driveway, but walking up it...no thanks! I can't even easily go up the stairs at work!

CalicoPusscat · 20/04/2025 06:11

Probably quite a lot of things! Which makes no sense as I'm broke. I'm reluctant to sell it all though.

Signed off with illness at present and wondering when I'll be well enough to go back full time. Complete drain on finances.
