I could overhear comments about my tea drinking.
I will drink cold herbal tea rather than throw it away.
Apparently it's skanky.Got me thinking what's low standards.?
For me it is
Wearing dirty clothes or shoes.
Poor hygiene especially dirty hands nails or teeth.
What are yours that give you the ick.

Spitting. I hear there’s going to be a stricter rule (law?) about this due to the staining being left by people chewing betel nut (?) and spitting out the remnants/juice produced. Euw.

Leaving a mess in the loo and not bothering to clean up despite a brush being available or loo roll if you’ve left pee on the seat/surrounds.

Dropping litter, just why? In the woods this morning, I saw 2 disposable coffee cups and the plastic lids just dumped. Is it so hard to take them to a bin in the carpark 200 yards away or just keep hold until you find a bin? There’s been a huge increase in dumped full poo bags in the last few days-Easter holidays? Why bag it if you’re then dumping the bag?

Face tats, usually men just to say it’s not always women on women. I don’t understand why you would get a tattoo on your face unless it’s cultural. I saw a photo in a group today of somebody (male) with the word cunt tattooed on his arm. I have no idea why anyone would get a very obvious tattoo-on his forearm-of that word. What job does he do that it doesn’t matter?

Do you never make value judgements about anyone or anything? If you don't you are either Mother Theresa or a bot.
Human nature is what it is. No-one is perfect. Very few have poor personal hygiene, or need to pierce a child's ears for poor MH reasons.

You're actually dead wrong about the personal hygiene/poor MH bit.

AdoraBell · 19/04/2025 17:05

Speaking with a mouthful of food 🤢

BCBird · 19/04/2025 17:08

I only drink peppermint tea but will often drink it cold. Nothing wrong with that. Spitting is gross as is poor personal hygiene

I have farrow and ball paint but ikea furniture 🤔I'm not sure where that puts me, skank with aspirations maybe?

Wayne and Waynetta are the king and queen of skank

Me too! I love a bit of posh paint, but I also love ikea. Not everything from ikea, but have bought a few things over the years that I have not been able to find elsewhere.

I overheard a woman on a South London bus state loudly, 'Who's gonna employ me looking like this?' She had big blue roses tattooed on the sides of her face from her cheeks to her forehead. She said it defiantly.

I did wonder if face tats were all about making yourself intentionally unemployable.

There was a reel I watched, a young woman had been tattooed all over her face. I can’t remember if it was a drug dealer who held her in some kind of thrall/she was high etc. A very well off guy heard her story and decided to help her. I doubt she will ever be totally free of the ink, but after a few sessions, she looked like she could probably disguise it with makeup. I can’t understand the mentality behind deciding to get your face permanently marked. Maybe you’re right, people do it so they’re unemployable. Pretty extreme, if so!

A lot of it is a result of poor mental health or addiction issues, sadly.

CheltenhamLady · 19/04/2025 17:44

Cold sores? Really? I am willing to bet that you haven't ever suffered from them.

I assume so, yes, although I’ve known people who appear (but who am I to know/judge?!) perfectly fine mentally and not addicted to get really obvious and/or obscene tattoos. I know a colleague of my DH had a hard time getting a certain job because of his bulldog tattoo, yet now it’s apparently acceptable to have full sleeves. I’ve seen some really well done ones, but it’s somewhat drastic to get both arms totally covered.

I was talking about facial tattoos being a result of MH issues, not tattoos in general.

People that start threads with the sole intention of just belittling and knocking other people and being unnecessarily unkind 🙄

About who though? Those with dirty hands and who smell bad? Yeah that’s a group that should do better

CalicoPusscat · 19/04/2025 18:18

Oh I'm definitely a bit of a skank at the moment (autocorrect tried to put spank 🙄), bad reaction to beta blockers and recent deaths so my place needs a lot of tidying.

No spitting though.

PineappleChicken · 19/04/2025 18:19

Whipping out a potty, placing it on the floor next to your table in the middle of the pub whilst people on the surrounding tables are eating a meal and letting your small child take a shit there rather than walk the ten steps to the toilet. That was probably the skankiest thing I’ve ever seen. Needless to say I have not been back to that particular place.

Lots of people "with dirty hands and who smell bad" suffer with MH issues or other conditions that means they're unable to keep themselves clean.

But yeah, they just need to "do better" in case blueleaves from MN judges them.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 19/04/2025 18:20

Picking your nose and eating it's contents 🤢

doitwithlove · 19/04/2025 18:26

individuals that sniff rather than blowing there nose. Sloppy eaters with mouths wide open whilst talking with their mouths full. I enjoy cold herbal tea.

Montea · 19/04/2025 18:28

I have a dirty floor because my vacuum broke and it’s £100+ for a new one.

XenoBitch · 19/04/2025 18:30

Changing nappies where people are eating. I have seen it a few times now (it seems to happen in Costa a lot).

Spidey66 · 19/04/2025 18:31

KimberleyClark · 19/04/2025 08:55

I like cold tea too. I make it with skimmed milk, that way you don’t get congealed fat.

To me skanky behaviour is coming down to hotel breakfast in your PJs and dressing gown.

Or going to Tescos or the school run in them.

IKEA furniture
Dulux/other cheapo paint
Chavvy flower selection packs
Granulated coffee
High street wallpaper
Having children you can’t afford
Universal Credit

Love the word skanky.

Edited

This is quite bizarrely specific. What in the name of Holy Snob are "chavvy flower selection packs"? And what is "high street wallpaper"? Is high street wallpaper worse than Dulux paint?
As for the last two in your list, it might be worth remembering that it is usually the people who are most insecure about their own social class who punch down on those less financially fortunate. Not a good look.

Yes, maybe, a definite consideration.

Universal credit? Be thankful you don't need it.

Yes, the Band 2 staff working in the NHS that are getting UC top ups are sure "skanky".
