I could overhear comments about my tea drinking.
I will drink cold herbal tea rather than throw it away.
Apparently it's skanky.Got me thinking what's low standards.?
For me it is
Wearing dirty clothes or shoes.
Poor hygiene especially dirty hands nails or teeth.
What are yours that give you the ick.

Scream swaring at children not to swear and screeching what you will do to them when they get home while slapping their head, classy it aint

Spitting.
Coughing or yawning without covering your mouth.
Eating Mcdonald's.
Energy drinks.
Not changing bedsheets regularly.

Coffee is an energy drink though, I certainly think it is.

Loloj · 19/04/2025 11:47

Letting your dog shit on the path and walking off without cleaning it up.

Poor hygiene - not regularly having a shower or cleaning teeth.

Taking and eating at the same time- showing everyone else the contents of your mouth.

People who swear and use foul language continuously- especially around young children.

leaving bedding on for months at a time and not changing it (a week or 2 is fine - changing every 3 days is excessive and wasteful unless you sleep naked and sweat profusely at night).

There's only one thing worse than a judgemental person, and that's a bunch of them 🙄

I believe the term for the judgemental collective is 'a skank'.

So can we ask what thread you were expecting when you opened a thread with the title as it is?

caramac04 · 19/04/2025 11:57

What’s wrong with cold herbal tea?
I drink forgotten coffee which has milk in it. It’s not days old and manky and it hasn’t killed me.

How dirty? - asking for a friend.

Mumofyellows · 19/04/2025 12:05

Cold herbal tea is actually nice! I prefer it cooler, and I drink a lot of herbal tea.

Skanky to me is...
Spitting
Excessive sniffing without blowing your nose
Leaving dog shit ( I have dogs- love them just hate people leaving it giving dog owners a bad name)
Iceland
Chucking fag ends on the floor
Vapers blowing it down the street so you get caught in a candy floss waft
Littering
Fly tipping
Screaming at your kids
Wearing dressing gowns in public
Hanging out of your front door smoking in your PJs

Do you never make value judgements about anyone or anything? If you don't you are either Mother Theresa or a bot.
Human nature is what it is. No-one is perfect. Very few have poor personal hygiene, or need to pierce a child's ears for poor MH reasons.

I never feel the need to share my judgements to thousands of people online no

I totally agree with you. There have been so many times that I've made a new friend, really liked them, felt like we've got a lot in common. Then I go to their house and, instantly notice the Dulux paint on their skirting boards and realise what a disgusting skank they really are. It's sickening to think that people like that walk among us.

How would you know what paint someone has?
Except for universal credit, I have all of these items. I am a top 1 percent earner but I also eat supernoodles 😂I have ikea furniture in some rooms becuase it fits the space.
I don't think anyone can afford their children, children will max out whatever budget you have.
Some of the granulated coffees are very nice and I also don't want to spend time making coffee, it's a boring task.

Why is what you earn relevant to this though?

Mumofyellows · 19/04/2025 12:21

I've just re read that and realised I am skanky. I have silicone paint and some Ikea furniture 🤪

Rainydaysandwellybobs · 19/04/2025 12:22

@80smonster Damn.
I have just painted my kitchen in Dulux paint. Thought I was posh not using DIY store own brand, that's me told I guess 🤣
For me skanky is:
People going out in public un-showered and smelling.
Dirty/poorly maintained home. Especially if children are living in it.
Kids in really cheap shoes when the mum has her hair/nails/botox done.

KimberleyClark · 19/04/2025 12:25

How does one tell the difference between cheap Dulux paint and expensive paint when it’s actually on a wall?

I assume you're one of those who insists that you only need one coat of Farrow and Ball because you can't afford two tins.

Because the homeowner says Farrow and Ball at every opportunity.

People who look down on others who may be too poor or too depressed to have clean things.
