I could overhear comments about my tea drinking.
I will drink cold herbal tea rather than throw it away.
Apparently it's skanky.Got me thinking what's low standards.?
For me it is
Wearing dirty clothes or shoes.
Poor hygiene especially dirty hands nails or teeth.
What are yours that give you the ick.

couples asking for money as a wedding present….if you can’t afford a wedding without asking guests to pay for it then I ain’t coming….or maybe I’ll just ignore the request (heaven forbid it’s written as a poem) and buy them a toaster (Asda own make obvs!).

CostaDelZamboni · 19/04/2025 12:45

Mother Theresa here, you called?

Loads of things messy cluttered home not washing in the morning or at night slurping drinks sleeping in the same bedding for weeks a time i have to have clean bedding every 3 days.
Spitting littering moveing men in within months.
Shoes on in doors.
The list goes on.

Every three days 😂

I assume you're one of those who insists that you only need one coat of Farrow and Ball because you can't afford two tins.

No one can have a single coat. It’s like water. It’s absolutely garbage paint, and is so, so easily damaged. I find it hilarious when it’s mentioned on house listings.

IKEA furniture
Dulux/other cheapo paint
Chavvy flower selection packs
Granulated coffee
High street wallpaper
Having children you can’t afford
Universal Credit

Love the word skanky.

Edited

Thanks for that, I needed a laugh. But what are chavvy flower selection packs?

Napface · 19/04/2025 13:03

I have farrow and ball paint but ikea furniture 🤔I'm not sure where that puts me, skank with aspirations maybe?

Wayne and Waynetta are the king and queen of skank

Charlize43 · 19/04/2025 13:06

I think using the word 'Skanky' - such an ugly word.

I thought it wasn't used anymore. Calling someone a 'skank' is so judgy.

PowderMonkeys · 19/04/2025 13:08

‘Er down at number 17 what doesn’t scrub her front step before 8 am and shows a bit too much leg when she does.

Ginmonkeyagain · 19/04/2025 13:18

Looks nervously at my entire Dulux painted flat and IKEA blanket box.

Hastentoadd · 19/04/2025 13:22

Iwantmyoldnameback · 19/04/2025 12:06

Apart from the children one this is just try hard snobbery.

Exactly, @80smonster, is a want to be Hyacinth Bucket but she hasn’t a clue

IKEA furniture and using Dulux paint skanky behaviour! 😂

PoorUncleBarry · 19/04/2025 13:27

Judging other people on pointless matters is the epitome of skanky behaviour.

lottiegarbanzo · 19/04/2025 13:31

Skanky Is a useful word. It’s quite a strong accusation - a 90s version of sluttish, slovenly.

Drinking your own cold tea is perhaps eccentric, frugal or just practical. There’s nothing nasty or dirty about it.

Charlize43 · 19/04/2025 13:34

Didn't a recent study conclude that buying IKEA furniture was linked to Satanism and kids growing up around IKEA furniture had a greater chance of becoming a Serial Killer?.. no, of course, it didn't.

Farrow & Ball, lol. The guy at the B&Q Valspar paint mixing station told me he spends all day making up colours from the Farrow & Ball paint swatch... Is he King of the Skanks?

Maybe he’s Satan? Satin Gloss Satan?

Catsandcannedbeans · 19/04/2025 13:57

Spitting on the floor, my dad does it and I literally wince every time he does it. To give him credit he tries to not do it around me.

When people pick or rub their eyes in public. This is a personal one but it makes me gag. DP used to do it but I beat that one out of him within a few dates.

People that start threads with the sole intention of just belittling and knocking other people and being unnecessarily unkind 🙄

This.

lactofree · 19/04/2025 14:01

People who put unwanted white goods outside the front of the house until the end of time.

Anotherparkingthread · 19/04/2025 14:34

Cold sores. Shouting in the street. Grotty kids. Leggings that are almost transparent. Eating MacDonalds/kebaba/other garbage regularly. Teenage pregnancy. Being ridiculously noisy for no reason in pubs - think men who shout "wayyyyyy" every two minutes. Lovebites.

Any item of clothing with the word juicy written in it. Football shirts. Dogs with rugby ball shaped heads. Flip flops -extra points for slightly platform foamy sole, also crocs. Pandora bracelets. Putting heinz ketchup on everything. Wearing pajamas in the supermarket. Kids scooters rotting in the yard. Gel nails done by somebody up the street. Knock off Louis Vuitton.

That's basically a found poem I've written. I grew up in a shit hole council estate so this reminds me of being a kid.

Ilovelurchers · 19/04/2025 14:55

This has become a bit of a horrible thread, hasn't it?

I'm not sure OP intended that - I am sure we can all agree that never washing one's body etc isn't great (unless somebody is suffering mental health issues that make self-care difficult, or living in extreme poverty where they don't have access to washing facilities.)

But a lot of these posts just seem to be an excuse to mock behaviours, brands etc people associate with the working classes. And that's not very nice.

Does anybody genuinely care what brand of clothing or paint other people use, or what type of soft drinks they drink, etc? Bizarre thing to have opinions about.....

And the word "chavvy" is really offensive - I have reported it. Quite surprised anybody still thinks it's OK to use this slur.

thebear1 · 19/04/2025 15:01

Littering, fly tipping and not picking up after a pet is skanky. Poor hygiene due to laziness rather than disability or lack of access to hygiene products is also unpleasant.

Oh please, chav and chavvy is not a slur. You can be working class and not a chav. You can live in some diabolical shit hole flat block and not be a chav. It isn't a protected characteristic it isn't like being gay or black because you can wake up and decide not to be a chav. 🙄

I grew up in one of the roughest areas you can imagine. And let me tell you, what is offensive, is the holier than thou, patronising, and completely un-self aware post you have created. Where you cast poor working class folks as victims, who lack any ability to self identify, and have no sense of humour.

faerietales · 19/04/2025 15:21

Coming on the internet to sneer at other people's choices when they absolutely nothing to do with you.

Using the word "skanky" to belittle other women. Because it's always women.

Elsvieta · 19/04/2025 16:39

Smoking. Vaping. Drinking on the street or in the morning. Using bad language loudly in public, especially round children. Tattoos on necks and hands. Nightwear and curlers in public. Littering. Public discussion of your sex life. Inability to go out and have a drink or two without becoming legless and aggressive / embarrassing. Having a rapid succession of boyfriends in and out the house when you have children at home. Putting men before the kids. Living in squalor. Not cold tea.

Chav is a pejorative term
