Sending love to trans people on MN and beyond

This isn't an AIBU. I just wanted to send love to trans people, in the UK especially, and to other members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

This hasn't been the easiest week for trans people, but there are a lot of us out there who accept you for who you are. We have your backs and we believe that eventually, tolerance and compassion will win.💖💖💖

Love from a longtime MNer and trans-inclusive feminist.

Wishing everyone that doesn't understand the strength, to come back to the lord and love their own genitalia, as I love mine everyday x

No. I fully get it. As I've said, I've good friends who are trans and who've been made to feel like they're worse than scum just for existing. That might sit well with you but it doesn't with me and it never will.

Frankly it’s not my problem. Or the problem of women to solve. Women are made to feel scum of the earth for existing, for having babies, for not having babies, for having jobs, for not having jobs, for being gay, for drinking alcohol, for looking good, for not looking good, for being old, for being young, for wanting privacy and same sex spaces…shall I go on?

Im too busy trying to work how to undo that prejudice - I don’t have time or inclination to worry about what it’s like for men.

JandamiHash · 18/04/2025 23:19

MereNoelle · 18/04/2025 23:09

I don’t get this whole ‘existing’ thing. Who is denying that trans people exist? We know they exist, we can see them. I personally don’t give a shit how anyone dresses/cuts their hair/presents themself. I don’t think your biological sex has anything to do with the way you dress.
I still don’t want to share female only spaces with men, even if for some reason those men think they are women.

They like to employ melodramatic language to prop up their delusion. For some reason they also like to claim people say they aren’t human.

My husband is a thoroughly decent and kind man. I have been with him for a long time, and fairly obviously, we've spent a lot of time naked in each other's company. I still wouldn't want him sitting there watching me change my tampon. And that's someone I love dearly. How would I feel if I was locked in a very small cell with a man i knew nothing about who was lying there watching me deal with my period and change my tampon? Given the stats, he's probably a sex offender as well - I've got a cell bell but can the officers respond before I'm raped, will I even be able to get to the cell bell if he threatens me?

That is why males do not belong in women's prisons. I'll die on this hill.

I was with you until you said that the stats suggested the person would be a rapist.

First, we really don’t know that the person would (or would not) go after a woman. No one giving statistics has provided information on how many victims of trans women’s sexual assaults are female.

More importantly, 88/203 is a bad statistic but the odds would still he on your side!

What’s that got to do with anything?

Helleofabore · 18/04/2025 23:22

PonyPatter44 · 18/04/2025 23:14

Why is the sex of the victim relevant though? I think you're implying that if their victims have been men or boys, that women prisoners would be at less risk. I think you may not actually know much about sex offenders.

I think that this is the case indeed.

And considering I have had a family member imprisoned, I find the attempts that we so often see of dismissing the past harm and potential harm of sex offenders and violent offenders rather concerning.

I understand, my boyfriend earns more than me, and when I suggest a place to eat... he asks if I am sure!!!!!!

You really don't seem to understand sex offenders or violent offenders that you are desperately attempting to limit their crimes to 'female' people.

And you continue to ignore the known issues around reporting crimes and convictions in the UK. Do you honestly think that the numbers of those sex offences is not higher? Do you think that there are male people out there walking around who have not been reported? or who were reported but had the case dropped or dismissed?

Genuinely, this attempt at limitation is remarkable considering report after report about the crisis facing women and children and the lack of justice they get.

88/203 is on the side of what exactly? What point are you attempting to make?

JandamiHash · 18/04/2025 23:29

poetryandwine · 18/04/2025 23:24

Helleofabore · 18/04/2025 23:31

Plus the point of the prison statistics is to show that male people with transgender identities commit sex offences at least at the same rate as the rest of the male population for when someone is trying to assess safeguarding risk.

As a group, they should not be treated as differently for safeguarding policies as all other male people in the UK. They should certainly not be treated as if the have the same risk profile as female people in the UK.

PonyPatter44 · 18/04/2025 23:31

@poetryandwine , have you ever actually been inside a prison? Or sat in a room with several sex offenders?

Look, I've worked in prisons for nearly 15 years. I've met dozens of transwomen offenders. I think fewer than 4 of them were NOT sex offenders, and all were violent. I would not have felt comfortable signing even one of them off into the female estate.

There aren't many trans prisoners. A couple of thousand out of 86000 or so at the last count. The judiciary has bought into this "too vulnerable for prison" thing, you can see plenty of news articles supporting that, meaning that the transwomen who DO end up behind bars are generally quite dangerous. There is no justification to place any of them in the female estate.

Helleofabore · 18/04/2025 23:34

JandamiHash · 18/04/2025 23:29

She said if she shared a cell with a male sex offender she’d worry about being raped.

Let's not forget the direct accounts from female prisoners of the sexual abuse that they experienced in UK female prisons that were not 'rape'.

There are many ways to harm a female prisoner that is not limited to rape.

But FFS, the dismissal of the chances of rape is disturbing.

Did you actually just type this out?

And you were demonising Maya Forstater for using correct sex pronouns answering a question to an interviewer, in an interview about sex based rights while ignoring the fact that the person you were declaring was the victim had just told the world they had sex with a person without disclosing that they were male not the female the person had expected when they consented to sex!

LittlerCharlotte · 18/04/2025 23:41

Maya Forstater has been eviscerated for years by daring to speak up about her beliefs. The woman has been through hell. So I'm not surprised she took the opportunity to assert her LEGAL right to call someone she deems male, a man. If that hurt them, well maybe they should think about the horrors she's been through. I bet it felt bloody good. "Be kind" indeed.

The loudest shoutiest most aggressive voices are the male ones, always, no matter how they "identify". This never ever would have happened had the whole self ID thing come up. The absurdity of it makes you wonder how on earth it was ever legal.."I'm a woman." "Oh, ok. That makes you one, then. Off you go, woman."

Interesting how the “I am a woman!” Barrister portrayed male traits - shutting Maya down, talking over her, not listening etc.

Is that because all the trans ‘allies’ keep telling them that everyone hates them?

Trans allies and activists are the only people who keep harping on about trans people being ‘hated’ so that’s on you.

Women just want to have spaces away from men.

Like another male barrister who declares that they are female who admitted that they would want to lose the 'power' of their male voice as it had significant impact in court. But who acts in abusive ways towards women they disagree with. Including entering an MN thread of a woman who is the claimant in a trial that that barrister will be representing the defendant in.

Operation: Let them speak.

Absolutely. The loudest voices in this are always the male ones, which tells you they definitely are biological men. If they're not men - prove it by shutting up, doing as you're told and being "kind". We're watching.

It’s funny/not funny how their voices always sound so unmistakably male isn’t it?

I hope those on this thread concerned about the rights of all will watch the C4 clip. The barrister Samantha was soft spoken and polite.

Watch and see for yourself

The first part of that sentence is false. There are important points around female spaces that get lost when the facts do.

I have. Samantha kept interrupting Maya, wasn’t listening and kept dodging questions.

He also reached peak liar when he said he is a woman not a transwoman.

It’s not false at all. Most transwomen in prison are sex offenders. Did you miss the stats posted upthread?
