To buy an expensive ninja coffee machine

caramac04 · 17/04/2025 09:59

Ninja have got £50 off their bean to cup coffee machine.
My name is Caramac and I am a ninjaholic.
I don’t NEED another coffee machine although my current one will be replaced by a bean to cup at some point. It’s quite new so can’t justify replacing it on age.
I can afford it although there are other things which the money would be better spent on.
There is a 12 month interest free option to spread the cost which I would probably use.
My very patient DH would not be happy.
I know IABU to buy it. Please reinforce that to me.
I am going to walk the dog now and put it out of my mind.

Our Bean to Cup gave up last month and DH replaced it with the Ninja, he had been eyeing it up for a while but didn’t justify it until his broke. He absolutely loves it, wishes he had done it earlier (and I’m pleased it now matches all the other Ninja’s in the kitchen I love)

If it helps, you can’t put it in a corner because all the gadgets with it you have to use fit in little compartments either side, so you’ve gotta have space either side of it.

(can you tell this is what put me off?)

We only have about 3 inch down the left, it’s still pretty much in the corner.

You are all being unreasonable!
Buy a saga barista express impress. Learn how to pull a shot in a barista machine in one of those, once you get it dialled in, it is consistent as the machine controls the tamp pressure.

Best coffee I have ever had, even better than what I have drank in Italy or Spain.
Get your beans from Rave - they’re amazing. Have a go at roasting your own, even - it’s easy!

You’ll get decent coffee from a bean to cup, but it’ll never be perfect like it will from a barista machine

We have a Sage bambino plus & a Sage bean grinder & they're the best things we've bought! Dh loves coffee & that machine is used a minimum of 5 / 6 times every single day.

We also have a Sage kettle (fab) & a Sage waffle maker. They're all really well made, heavy quality. Not flimsy.

I love how the bambino, grinder & kettle look side by side on the counter. The waffle maker lives in the utility room

I don't like the look of the Ninja coffee machine

@dizzyupthegirl86 I use Causeway coffee which is local to me - The NW Coast of N. Ireland :) They win awards with every roast they bring out , not cheap , but OMG delicious ( I dont pay those prices you see online, I get a hefty discount cos I go in an annoy them for a while with my chat lol )

Tuiren is the one Ive landed on after trying most of the others, which are all excellent but Tuiren is the blend for me

I'm also a Ninjaholic! I saw an ad for the coffee machine yesterday and thought 😍 OH!

I want one.

But I don't drink hot drinks, despise coffee - but still want one...

Are you me? I really really want an outdoor pizza oven. I don’t like pizza, never eat it and Britain is not known for year round outdoor eating.

I have the outdoor pizza oven. I can highly recommend it. We now make our own pizzas and they taste amazing!

I now want the coffee machine after reading all these responses.

Find a way to justify it.

For example, if it means buying less coffee while you are out, you are saving money.

Or if the coffees are cheaper to produce with this machine than the others then you are saving money.

Plus it is on sale and might never be repeated.

It will almost certainly be repeated.

Black friday is renowned for decent coffee deals- it'll likely go cheaper

NormaNormalPants · 19/04/2025 12:41

I’m a ninja fan but nothing will tear me away from sage when it comes to coffee machines. We have the Oracle Touch and it makes the best cup of coffee (which I enjoy in my ninja sip perfect 😁)

UndermyShoeJoe · 19/04/2025 17:25

I love homemade fresh pizzas but the ninja oven hasn’t managed to convert me yet. We just have proper pizza stones in our oven

AgnesX · 19/04/2025 17:29

We had a simple Ninja coffee machine, a grounds and drip thing. So neat and easy to use. I was heartbroken when it stopped working and found that Ninja had discontinued that model.

If you use all the fancy functions go for it (sorry, I'm not helping whatsoever 😔)

suki1964 · 19/04/2025 21:25

Ok so I went to my local electrical store to buy the Ninja , and walked out with a Sage Express Impress. A bit more then the Ninja but I got a great discount

it’s still in the boot of the car because I’ve house guests but looking forward to playing with it come Monday.

Tbh it is only me who drinks coffee here , and I love a cappuccino so I really don’t need the range of coffee that the Ninja offers The bambino plus was good for a starter machine , and I learned a lot , maybe not how to make a perfect cup, but to understand the huge difference between a good cup and a mediocre one.

MsPug · 22/04/2025 18:31

The ninja is on qvc easy pay at the moment if anyone is interested 👀 ☕️

You have made a sterling choice there. I love mine!

SRCT · 22/04/2025 19:35

We recently chucked best part of a grand at a new modified Gaggia Classic plus Sage Pro grinder plus accessories, not to mention all the beans from Redber Coffee (Monsooned Malabar recommended!).

Bloody fantastic brew!!

I have to say - Im very impressed

Unfortunately I had no beans so I bagged some from the pub and I made a very decent cuppa with my first attempt - guessing with the grind.

Just got the beans I usually use, taken 3 dials - all ok cups but not 100% and I stopped because I was just coffee 'd out

Loving the steam wand. The bambino plus it was all rather hit and miss with the frothing, with this Im getting it more right then wrong already

DH gave off at the cost ( I paid, but still it was a considered purchase ) but I really enjoy the one cup a day I have. Its my little ritual, a quiet time when I get in from work so for me, worth every penny - and Ive booked into a masterclass to learn frothing and milk art , run by the guys who's beans I buy. They are buying my old kit - they run classes on all machines and set ups and make videos for online learning - so a bit towards the initial outlay

caramac04 · 29/09/2025 09:56

Update
After a week in sc which provided a DeLonghi bean to cup machine, I loved it so much I bought one.
DH likes the coffee too; he doesn’t drink a lot of coffee and dislikes instant so he was on board.
It was £300, paid outright and I’m giving my old but newish machine to DD.
I’m very happy with it. Not really used the milk steamer yet but will experiment.

QforCucumber · 29/09/2025 11:15

ooo Which De Longhi did you go for?

I'm mid research for DH Xmas present as at the minute the budget just doesn't stretch to a Sage.

Newmeagain · 29/09/2025 11:24

For anyone still looking to buy a machine I would also recommend Sage. I have the basic one which is just over £500 and I have had it for nearly 3 years. It’s amazing. I don’s have many kitchen gadgets and I don’t like clutter but this is definitely worth it even in a small kitchen!

bumbaloo · 29/09/2025 11:30

I think it depends on how you drink your coffee. It’s kind of pointless being precious about the beans beyond arabica vs robusta if you drink your coffee in a mug full of say soy, oat, dairy or coconut milk as a latte as they obliterate any subtly.

if you are a purist and drink your coffee black or as an espresso or with a dash of milk then the bean quality is worth it.

it’s like buying a Château Mouton Rothschild and being all pleased about it and then drinking it with added sugar or a dash of coke 🤣

Giddykiddy · 29/09/2025 11:38

I just bought a Ninja coffee maker - i've had Smeg and delinghi's before and DD has a Jura- this makes the best coffee with best strength control also the frother is the best i've used by far

I got the MagnificaS. I think I need to adjust the strength as I like a strong coffee. Need to go online for more info as although it’s easy to use ie self explanatory buttons; the info with the machine doesn’t explain how to make for eg a flat white.
I’m no barista 😂

I bought the De'Longhi Magnifica Evo yesterday and so far it is superb.

My only warning is that the "instructions" that come with it are hopeless (the pictures are incomprehensible and I still have no idea what the white plastic tube thing that comes in a wrapper is for) but if you ignore them and download the full manual online it is great.
