To buy an expensive ninja coffee machine

caramac04 · 17/04/2025 09:59

Ninja have got £50 off their bean to cup coffee machine.
My name is Caramac and I am a ninjaholic.
I don’t NEED another coffee machine although my current one will be replaced by a bean to cup at some point. It’s quite new so can’t justify replacing it on age.
I can afford it although there are other things which the money would be better spent on.
There is a 12 month interest free option to spread the cost which I would probably use.
My very patient DH would not be happy.
I know IABU to buy it. Please reinforce that to me.
I am going to walk the dog now and put it out of my mind.

We have a siemens automatic bean to cup. It’s much less faff than doing the barista style ones!

caramac04 · 17/04/2025 18:59

Thank you all for your replies. My current machine has a milk frother and I use ground coffee; no pods.
I have also got a Tassimo and have a reusable pod which I use at my caravan.
I have thought carefully and have decided to be sensible, consider the environment and my purse and not be tempted.
Also it would take up worktop space. I’ve already got 3 Ninja cookers and toaster/grill.

Do it. The monthly payment will be negligible and long term you won't regret it or miss the money. Our delonghi bean to cup has paid for itself as no daily trips to Costa. I'm a ninja fiend myself with soup maker, food processor, woodfire and foodi. Love them all and well used

Iwouldlikesomecake · 17/04/2025 19:01

YANBU but we bought a £700 refurbished WMF one and brought it home from Germany so I’m not one to talk 🤣

wizzywig · 17/04/2025 19:03

Is it easy to clean?

AnotherSuperHeroe · 17/04/2025 19:55

And if you have the blue light card it’s dropped down to £440!!!!

FlatErica · 17/04/2025 19:57

Just learn how to make good coffee properly with low tech equipment. You don’t need all this bullshit stuff! Think global, act local!

BlueRidgeMountain · 17/04/2025 20:00

What! Why didn’t I know ninja now make coffee machines?!? I’ve just been talking about getting a bean to cup machine and I’m very tempted….. and I have blue light discount …..

UndermyShoeJoe · 17/04/2025 20:05

Ninja make everything. Since they are also
shark. So I can have my ninja slushie after my ninja air fried food with my ninja rice after shark hoovering my carpets then giving them a good carpet clean and curling my hair. Ah life

TY78910 · 17/04/2025 20:12

If it helps, you can’t put it in a corner because all the gadgets with it you have to use fit in little compartments either side, so you’ve gotta have space either side of it.

(can you tell this is what put me off?)

winnieanddaisy · 17/04/2025 21:00

My son had a coffee pod machine and the pods were expensive. He was paying about £50 per month for them . Last year a bought him a bean to cup machine for Christmas and his coffee beans cost about £10 per month. It has paid for itself already x

CannotWaitForSummervibes · 18/04/2025 07:18

Never buy stuff on credit. Even if it’s interest free. You can never be sure what your financial situation will be like in 6 months time.

Groundhogday2025 · 18/04/2025 07:20

Buy it…..! 😈

whirlyhead · 18/04/2025 07:24

I have a sage one that cost about £500 5 years ago and it’s bloody wonderful. I use it every day. Definitely worth the money!

suki1964 · 18/04/2025 11:49

Iwilladmit · 17/04/2025 17:14

If you’re putting a luxury on credit then you cannot afford it.

What a ridiculous statement

Interest Free credit is the way to go. I just bought a big item purchase, I had the full cost sitting there to pay for it, and when I went into pay for it a 0% card was suggested, so I applied, got it, paid for the item and cut the card in half

I always use interest free of its available , having saved the purchase price so. I dont allow debt to build JIC

See this is what's making me waver, that and the funnel is plastic

At the moment I have my sage in the corner under the only top cupboards I have with the grinder beside it and the Ninja has a big foot print.

Im eyeing up the sideboard , it has the fruit bowls on it and is a bit of a dumping ground and there's a plug point beside it..............

Ninja/Shark addict here as well. Shark vacuum, hairdryer , steam mop, Ninja 15 in 1 and AF 400

Hair dryer is the dogs dangly bits

TippyToesTeacher · 18/04/2025 12:53

This is quite literally one of the funniest threads ever. OP actually asked to be talked out of it, and nearly everyone is saying “buy it.”

As a Ninja addict myself, I am very tempted after reading this thread… 😂

dizzyupthegirl86 · 18/04/2025 12:53

@suki1964 full disclosure, I’ve got a sage machine myself! The ninja did tempt me briefly though, although when I see people compare the two, sage seems to be more favoured. I actually don’t think the ninja looks nice aesthetically, it’s a bit bulky and blocky, but it’s got lots of bells and whistles that I liked!

Ive a wee sage bambino and whilst it does a good job, its never consistent

I buy the same beans every month and have them dialled in, hit for a double and sometimes get just a teaspoon of coffee, other times I have to override the machine as its pouring and pouring and I end up with weak pish. Sometimes I get spot on milk, over times it can just explode everywhere

So I dont always make a cappuccino - more like a frothy coffee :)

The Ninja looks like its going to take away all guesswork as it learns as it goes

dizzyupthegirl86 · 18/04/2025 18:33

What beans do you use? My sister had that issue and it turned out she was using supermarket beans, which I think sort of defeats the point of a decent coffee machine! I find as long as I’m using a blend, I can get a decent result even if it needs slight adjustment as the beans age. Single origins can be tricky though. I’m sorely sorely tempted by the oracle jet 😭

suki1964 · 19/04/2025 07:41

@dizzyupthegirl86 , a local roasters beans

They are very good - the beans and the guys who own it, :) They helped me with the grinder, getting the correct weight and size of grind. I could go to one of their master classes with my own equipment but they are never at a convenient time for me so I make do

Dont get me wrong, the coffee is 90% of the time really good, sometimes its pure perfection and I really enjoy finishing work and sitting with a coffee for an hour ( I make into a travel mug for it to stay hot ) before I make a start on the rest of the day , its my reward for getting up at 5am and having my days work done whilst most are just having their 10 0'clock tea break :)

My son is a Barista in Australia. There is not a thing he doesn't know about coffee. Travels the coffee growing countries buying beans, travels the world doing demos and competitions - a real coffee snob , where as I just want a good coffee to my taste, which is rich , dark and chocolatey with a thick froth that sits on top for the coffee to come through as its being drunk , and I end up at times with a flat white :)

DinoLil · 19/04/2025 08:05

I'm also a Ninjaholic! I saw an ad for the coffee machine yesterday and thought 😍 OH!

I want one.

But I don't drink hot drinks, despise coffee - but still want one...

Ah Australia is PROPER serious about coffee! Do you mind if I ask who your local roaster is? I’m always up for trying new ones. Ive only ever found one truly local roaster to me and I wasn’t that impressed, but there’s quite a few that are within 20-30 miles of me.
iron & fire do one that’s kept in whisky infused barrels, it’s glorious.
