Just that-
would you have one and believe it or is a load of old tosh

OP posts:
BIWI · 15/04/2025 14:47

Nope. Definitely a load of old tosh!

EffortlesslyInelegant · 15/04/2025 14:49

Tosh.

ginasevern · 15/04/2025 14:50

If I was going to have some kind of reading, I would personally choose a clairvoyant rather than a Tarot reader.

FoxRedPuppy · 15/04/2025 14:50

Absolute bollocks

Maitri108 · 15/04/2025 14:50

Yes I would. I've always been interested in the esoteric.

FoxRedPuppy · 15/04/2025 14:50

Clairvoyant = also complete bollocks

Comedycook · 15/04/2025 14:51

It's nonsense

Supersimkin7 · 15/04/2025 14:55

Tosh but useful cos you will react to it - your thoughts tell
you a lot about where you are in life, and what you want to happen.

ThisWOMANWontWheesht · 15/04/2025 14:57

Total rubbish.
Tarot was invented as a deck of playing cards for games; not as a tool for divination, or whatever it's purported to be.

ItGhoul · 15/04/2025 14:59

It's absolute bullshit and anyone who charges for them is a charlatan.

Also bullshit: clairvoyants, mediums, palm readers, horoscopes.

CurlewKate · 15/04/2025 15:03

Tosh in terms of predicting or anything like that. But I know some people find reading them for themselves helps to focus their thoughts. Fine so long as you don’t let yourself be influenced.

KrisAkabusi · 15/04/2025 15:08

Team tosh.

Gundogday · 15/04/2025 15:09

Not for me.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 15/04/2025 16:41

Not for me at all - but my daughter and her friends used Chat GPT for it recently (having picked the cards).

SunnySideDeepDown · 15/04/2025 16:42

Nay - complete waste of time and money!

SorcererGaheris · 15/04/2025 16:45

I'm an occultist, and while I don't use Tarot often myself, I have a few decks, and I think with someone who knows the subject well, a Tarot reading can be enjoyable and beneficial and can give you some insight into the potential direction of your life/current circumstances.

HolidayHattie · 15/04/2025 16:48

I'm learning to read the tarot. I don't think it predicts the future but I think it can give a different perspective on your situation and make you consider options you wouldn't have thought of. It can help to define / clarify your thoughts.

MagpiePi · 15/04/2025 16:56

It’s all tosh IMO, but saying that, I do have a horoscope app that gives daily, weekly and monthly readings. It’s all quite generic but it usually says quite positive things about being kind to yourself and trying to be understanding of other people. I’ve usually forgotten what it says about 5 minutes after I’ve read it!
I’ve also got a tarot reading app, which again, is quite vague as it’s generally along the lines of, things might be confusing at the moment but it’ll all work out in the end, it isn’t doing any harm.

Gobacktotheworld · 15/04/2025 16:58

They're for morons.

TeapotCollection · 15/04/2025 16:58

I went to one many years ago when I was young and naive

Sat down, cards came out and she said “Hmm, you’re an only child aren’t you?” Erm, no I’m the youngest of 6! “Ah yes I know that now”. Of course you do, I’ve just bloody told you!

Can’t remember a single thing she said after that

JandamiHash · 15/04/2025 16:59

Load of old tosh of course. But I’d still do it for fun.

Maddy70 · 15/04/2025 17:00

Nope it's bollocks

BananaSpanner · 15/04/2025 17:03

I went to a tarot reader whilst I was a student about 25 years ago. I think a friend had recommended him. It was just some bloke renting a table at an indoor market wearing a tracksuit. It’s absurd to think I actually paid him money…but he was quite insightful and some of the stuff he said did play out as predicted! Much of it was down to my own interpretation of my situation and what I wanted from it though and what I was making happen myself.

SpottedDonkey · 15/04/2025 17:04

Tosh. For thick gullible idiots. Unfortunately the world is full of thick gullible idiots.

AroundTheMulberryBush · 15/04/2025 17:21

I've had a few tarot readings over the years. I think I'm healthily sceptical. I do believe that if you get a reader with a gift then they can predict things however I'm not one to take them too seriously. Unless the advice was bang on specific then I would just take it as a bit of entertainment.

I got a reading (free of charge) from a colleague. She asked if I was pregnant, I was but didn't know it at the time. She described a couple of very specific points about a house I shortly moved into after the reading. A another very very specific thing that I won't say as it was very niche and I've told people about it. I've also been to see a reader a couple of times now who is usually bang on about a few points. I've been to others who have been absolute rubbish, along with psychics who gave it the usual "I'm seeing an elderly lady you were close to who has passed in the past 5 or so years". Well at my age, I'm very likely to have had a gran or great aunt who had passed in recent years. "I'm picking up an M name". Well yeah, Mary/Margaret/Mina all very popular names of that time. I actually had one that argued with me over my grandads cause of death 🙄.

When taken as a bit of entertainment, they're fine. If the reading resonates then it's a bonus.
