AIBU to think it's lazy and slovenly?

sweeneytoddsrazor · 09/04/2025 13:15

Would those happy to wear PJs out or happy for others to, be happy if the supermarket workers were wearing their PJs

@AlwaysPerfumed glad to be of assistance 😂
My mindset is I need to be comfortable in my overweight and sweaty menopausal body.
The clothes I wear are always clean.
They just happen to generally be sold in the pj section of Primark.

You should try the Menopause clothing in Primark

Needmorelego · 09/04/2025 12:49

Most men don't actually wear PJ's.

You really don’t get it do you. If you start dressing like this in public so will all the Unsafe scumbags.

StrangerThings1 · 09/04/2025 13:17

MaggieBsBoat · 09/04/2025 11:42

I don’t care how anyone dresses when they go shopping as long as they are clean (so not smelly) and not showing too many body parts or privates. Sometimes life is too short to get dressed. I use to go the cinema in my jimjams all the time. Fun.

So they are wearing the same clothes that the slept in so it is extremely unlikely that they showered that morning, also are they even wearing underwear so their unwashed body parts are directly next to their clothing…..smelly, lazy and slovenly, a person who can’t be bothered to dress properly ( non sleepwear) can’t be bothered to do a lot of other things in life either

When I see people wearing pyjamas outside I always presume they are also unemployed and on benefits, If they can’t get their act together enough to put on proper clothing it’s unlikely they could be bothered or could get their act together enough to get a job either….

Say a lot about that person,

Exception is that I might find it acceptable with parents doing a school drop off in the morning if they didn’t leave the car or people putting out the bins…..it only takes a few seconds to put on a pair of leggings though

Needmorelego · 09/04/2025 13:17

Well I am off to catch a train.
I am currently wearing a pair of elasticated waist loose bottoms I bought off a sale rail in Pep and Co.
They were a lone random pair.
I have no idea if they are actually pj bottoms or casual trousers.
I hope no one on the train is offended 😂

Comedycook · 09/04/2025 13:17

Needmorelego · 09/04/2025 13:14

@Comedycook yes I do have a few pairs of haram pants but if you place them together with my various pj bottoms you couldn't really tell which are which.
They are pretty much the same thing.

There is a fine line between lounge wear and actual pjs....plain coloured, stretchy bottoms don't necessarily look like pjs, they just look like ordinary casual wear. Actual pjs with patterns on are a different matter! I once saw an entire family at the petrol station in proper pjs and dressing gowns..it was quite a sight

AlwaysPerfumed · 09/04/2025 13:18

@Needmorelego If you "wanna" (says it all) wear pyjamas because jeans are uncomfortable, then crack on but the next time you are slouching around the shops, have a look at the clothing department-there are other alternatives to jeans...even in Primark.

That said, choose your shop-many won't allow pyjama clad people to use their changing rooms. Quite right in my opinion.

You are a symptom of the times-even referring to yourself as sweaty and overweight as you wander around in public in your pyjamas- and nothing anyone will say will change your attitude.

You paint a delightful picture of yourself. Soap, water and deodorant are all here to stay-there is no excuse for foisting your sweat on others!

Women have always been overweight, always menopausal-there is no need to haul your sweaty self about in pyjamas. How awful for you.

You either have self respect and respect for society or you don't. There are many of you-a growing group- and that's why threads berating those who pull society down will always crop up.

Dressing like what?
Loose patterned bottoms and co -ordinating t-shirt.
Oh the horrors......

Tourmalines · 09/04/2025 13:19

Who the hell goes out wearing their pyjamas ! Totally off .

Riapia · 09/04/2025 13:20

How times change.
My DM wouldn’t have gone to the corner shop without makeup on……and of course heels.

ouch321 · 09/04/2025 13:21

This makes me laugh and shows what poor logic people on Mumsnet tend to have.

Pyjamas are literally just comfortable and more cutesey/fun clothes.

Person 1 goes to the shop wearing a pair of navy trousers and a white t-shirt. Per Mumsnet all well and good.

Person 2 also goes to the shops but their trousers and top, although in the same colours, also have the word 'Sweet Dreams' printed on them. Per Mumsnet this is now outrageous and horrifying.

Saveafun · 09/04/2025 13:21

It's not something I for fear of being judged by people like you, but I don't think most are wearing PJs they slept in, do people even wear PJs to sleep now we have warm houses?

Now, in my advancing years, I have come to realise that far to many people have unbearably difficult lives, that those of us living without abuse, addiction, poverty, can't begin to imagine. If they've managed to get themselves to the supermarket, why would you add your judgement to their burden?

Needmorelego · 09/04/2025 13:23

@AlwaysPerfumed excuse me !
I am overweight and sweaty because I am menopausal and a few other health reasons.
Should I not leave the house because I am feeling warm?
I am ALWAYS clean and fresh smelling.
One of my hobbies is taking a bath 😂
I love it when I get "smellies" for Christmas.
I mostly wear loose bottoms - some from the pj section, some from the trouser section plus t-shirts (again from either department).
Oh and if I wanna use the word "wanna" I will.
😂😂

CurlewKate · 09/04/2025 13:23

I wear legging and a tee shirt as pyjamas. A sweatshirt if it’s cold. How would you know whether they were pyjamas or day clothes?

Needmorelego · 09/04/2025 13:24

@ouch321 exactly 😁

NC28 · 09/04/2025 13:24

Tramp-like behaviour. No excuse for it at all.

Kaftanesque · 09/04/2025 13:26

I have a dogs to walk.Get up and get dressed in my dog walking gear -the woods are often muddy -come back .Shower and change .Then later in day if going out on a longer walk change again .Then back into other clothes. How long does it take to pull on some pants and a top ?yes it's lazy to shop in pj's.Just like its lazy to chuck litter rather than find a bin.Call me old fashioned don't care.I love my pj's in the evening when I'm done for the day .The I don't care what others think sums it up doesn't it ?

Needmorelego · 09/04/2025 13:26

This thread is hilarious.
We get one of these a week though so I don't really have much more to add.
Gotta catch a train....
Bye all.

I think it’s incredibly skanky and I’ve only ever seen it in skanky areas.

SpikyCoconut · 09/04/2025 13:26

Corinthiana · 09/04/2025 11:53

Properly means clothes appropriate for daytime.
Pyjamas are not a "top and trousers".
They are nightwear.

So okay to shop at a supermarket in them as long as It's at night?

It wouldn't bother me other than I'd probably find it a bit funny.

I go shopping in a pink tracksuit that I wear for the gym sometimes if I go on the way home. Might look like pjamas.

PrettayGood · 09/04/2025 13:26

Exactly. We can all picture the generic person who wears their pyjamas to go to Tesco. If AI created the person, I know exactly what they’d look like. 😂

It’s easy to tell the difference between people wearing actual pyjama bottoms that they have slept in and the trend now for ‘pyjama looking ‘ pants that have been a trend for a while

Wouldn’t bother me, at least they turned up for work.

It’s just really scuzzy and says a lot about that person and their values.

AlwaysPerfumed · 09/04/2025 13:31

@Needmorelego You yourself said you were sweaty! Does your sweat smell of roses? Unlikely.

Do you go to work in your pyjamas? Would you go to a funeral in your pyjamas? Would you go to a wedding in your pyjamas?

Do you think you are the only menopausal overweight sweaty woman in the history of humanity?

No wonder people describe people being emboldened to curse, spit, litter and even shit in the street when middle aged women can't be bothered to get dressed.

There is no excuse.

Anyway, none of this will make any impression on you. I feel quite sad for you-what a life where you can't even be bothered to get dressed.
