To have spent this much…anyone else do this? I feel like I went insane for a few minutes

So I need a new trainers and I usually buy Converse so I went online and found some converse( kids ones because I’m small size) and they were in the sale, even better. But then I went crazy and not in a pair of aFIFA’s sambas also, and a jumper for my DD. It was literally like I have unleashed a beast because then I proceeded to go onto next and spend nearly 300 on
5 tops
2 jumpers
a coat
a swimsuit
a pair of cropped jeans
a dress
a pair of trousers for work.

im happy with the purchases, i really needed some new bits, but i feel guilty! Make me feel better please! Anyone else do this!?

The average price is fine, so if you can afford it and needed it, you've just shopped very efficiently without wasting time. Well done.

Createausername1970 · 05/04/2025 18:45

Yes, sometimes. But if it's all needed/useful then it would have been bought at some point.
All you have done is saved the bother of having to do it another time.

This is assuming you have the funds to pay for it?

If you haven't, then that's a different matter.

LlynTegid · 05/04/2025 18:46

If that is all you will spend on clothes other than perhaps underwear this year, I don't see an issue. I think cropped jeans are awful but that is just my opinion, but it is a pair of jeans.

Ponoka7 · 05/04/2025 18:50

trying not to give an opinion on cropped jeans.
It's fine to spend what you can afford on something as essential as clothing, cropped jeans are never essential . Our economy needs people to spend money. My DD, who is topped up by Universal credit, has just spent £250 on summer bits for her ten year old.

Lottapianos · 05/04/2025 18:51

You needed them, you like them, you will wear them. Enjoy them!

Gundogday · 05/04/2025 18:53

You got a lot of clothes for three hundred pounds. Enjoy them.

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 05/04/2025 18:54

It's your money, spend it as you wish and enjoy your new clothes. Don't feel guilty.

wishiwasupahill · 05/04/2025 19:00

It’s all online so just send it back if you don’t like it.

but sounds like a good shop, well done.

and yes, I’ve done that before, many times.

the only time I feel guilty is when I don’t like it / it doesn’t fit and I don’t manage to send / take it back to the shop in time.

that’d a massive waste and I feel awful.

if you wear it, no need to feel guilty.

What’s wrong with cropped jeans?

They’re not for you, they’re for the OP.

REDB99 · 05/04/2025 19:03

I think it’s fine, I tend to do this as I’ll go months without buying anything then when I do need something end up buying lots as I haven’t for ages. As long as you can afford it it isn’t problem.

Yeah I’m delighted, the coat and a couple other things were in the sale so that was handy! 🙌

I’m petite so they work for me, I love them 🤣

Sounds like some bargains you got there.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 05/04/2025 19:21

I think it’s fine. You’ve just bought everything you needed in one swoop.
You can afford it and you won’t need anything else for a while
sensible to buy when everything is in stock, so don’t feel guilty.

stayathomer · 05/04/2025 19:22

I looked the other day and what I can ACTUALLY wear in my wardrobe and it was ridiculous. I think you have the right idea op, very practical. And some people spend that on one item!!

Differentstarts · 05/04/2025 19:22

I'm the same I think its because I grew up really poor and had nothing so now as an adult I feel a lot of guilt spending money on things that arent needed . I'm still poor but I can afford things more now but that guilt never goes.

lnks · 05/04/2025 19:22

It’s not expensive for the number of items

I was the same, things I wore was limited and out of those things a lot of bits looked tired and old. The bits I got were basics that I can wear for work also so it’s perfect! Providing they fit and I like them that is! I’ll bring them back if not.

I think I've gone too far the other way... I can seem to buy necessary things on Vinted/eBay fine, but when it comes to buying more expensive new things, I get locked in a stress about picking the "perfect" thing. It takes loads sof research and I often still come away empty handed.Sometimes it's a good to just see what you need and buy it in one fell swoop!

PoppyBaxter · 05/04/2025 19:34

This is pretty much the only way that I shop! I hate shopping - both in person and online, so I store up all of the things I need/want and spend about £500 every so often (maybe once a year or so).

This. As long as you can afford it, it's all good. No reason to feel guilty.

Butthechildrentheylovethebooks · 05/04/2025 19:38

Me and DH spent £850 today shopping if that helps 😂 We never do actual shopping trips but got some great stuff.
If you can afford it and you love it all, don't feel guilty. I bet you deserve it.

Velmy · 05/04/2025 19:39

I just spent £1000 on a pair of trainers I'll probably wear twice a year.

It happens 😅

Ah thank you, I had some money aside in my savings and thought, wtf not! I think I deserve them anyway 🥰
