So I need a new trainers and I usually buy Converse so I went online and found some converse( kids ones because I’m small size) and they were in the sale, even better. But then I went crazy and not in a pair of aFIFA’s sambas also, and a jumper for my DD. It was literally like I have unleashed a beast because then I proceeded to go onto next and spend nearly 300 on
5 tops
2 jumpers
a coat
a swimsuit
a pair of cropped jeans
a dress
a pair of trousers for work.

im happy with the purchases, i really needed some new bits, but i feel guilty! Make me feel better please! Anyone else do this!?

If they are things you'll get to wear and you'll get rid of old things I can't see why not... I do that too (when I really, really like something I might buy two - never regretted it!)

MaMaMaMaBaker · 05/04/2025 19:49

I don't spend that much, but I am a bargain hunter. If I see something for a great price, I simply must have it.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 05/04/2025 19:49

I don’t know why you’d feel guilty if you can afford them and need them. Anything that doesn’t work can go back. You’ll enjoy them I’m sure

If you have the money without starving for the rest of the month then I think you've done quite efficient shopping, sale prices too. Those garments all sound like things you can wear regularly. It's not like you bought ballgowns and tiaras.

TwistedWonder · 05/04/2025 20:09

Yep. Saw a dress advertised I really liked, went into the website and saw several others I also liked

£500 later 😩

FalseSpring · 05/04/2025 20:12

I know how you feel. I bought two pairs of shoes and a bag online today before breakfast and I have been feeling guilty ever since! Hopefully that will be it for my summer footwear, and I have been wanting a bag in that colour for ages.

I have made a few really bad purchases recently but they have all gone back. I hope these are better, but they are from a shop I haven't used before so it is a bit crazy of me to buy so much at once.

Tagyoureit · 05/04/2025 20:16

Don't worry, you're allowed to spend the money you earn and you've bought 12 items for 300 quid, 25 quid a piece so not as if you bought 12 pairs of Louboutins whilst your children starve!

Mirrorxxx · 06/04/2025 07:28

I think that’s amazing for 300. I just ordered a dress and a jumper and it was almost that price, even in the sale

There's £204 worth of clothes in my ASOS basket right now. I'm completely fed up of every single item of clothing I have. Haul shopping is great. Except the returns. Im rubbish at returning things.

Yeah I would be too, especially as I’m in Ireland. That’s why I use next, the have so many brands, fast delivery and then I just drop the returns back to store, no questions asked, it’s so easy. I’m looking forward to my deliveries now.

Yes I’ve bought a lot this month, but all needed for work and weekend. I did initially feel guilty then I didn’t as I need it all and will wear it

PrincessOfPreschool · 06/04/2025 08:44

If you feel like you 'went insane' and these weren't planned purchases then I think YABU even if you have the money. You need to think about what you need and not just go mad for a few minutes, maybe buying stuff you don't need or don't even really like if it's an impulse purchase. It's not about the amount of money but the impulsivity which isn't great.

oh I needed them…having been through a separation over the last two years and finding my feet on financing myself for the first time ever on my own (and my children 50% of the time), I found I was denying myself new clothes for most of the time. Definitely needed, and I liked them a lot online so hopefully they’ll work ☺️

What’s wrong with cropped jeans?

They’re not for you, they’re for the OP.

If you dress/look vintage ad are doing them 1950's style, crack on. Other than that, if it's warm enough for ankles out, then it's too hot for jeans and cropped jeans aren't flattering on anyone. They are a go to for my age group (57+) for some unfathomable reason.
