To wonder what happened to these old Mumsnetters?

There was Kewcumber who adopted from abroad as a single lady, there was a mum who always talked about her son Wilf, and there was a very direct, blunt and often right woman who I think wrote with no punctuation, who seemed to be on every thread and gave me lots of harsh truths! Going back a good decade now…

Anyone know what happened to them? Anyone else you wonder about?

Is anyfucker still around? I think she had body issues and was underweight

Maybe if there wasn’t a thread about it every week it would be different

I’m convinced it’s one of the queen bees that posts these threads and drops their own name.

If it is, it'll be LaQueen 🤣 Only it can't be: she'd be posting about how fabulous she was!

Cosycover · 02/04/2025 22:22

Been on here since 2012 and can honestly say I've never even looked at anyones name.

I've been posting under one account/username or other for the best part of 12 years now. Hate the thought of being identified so change names and accounts regularly. Half these 'famous' names were extremely rude when I posted a list of food id eaten prior to having an upset stomach and embarrassing occurrence happened to me requiring me to need to change clothes (a repeat occurrence in my life at the time). Ended up with the thread taken down by Mumsnet due to the pile on and mass reports insisting 'they could always tell who was a troll, OG posters always know' etc. Well - they couldn't tell. I was and still am a genuine person who has thankfully since discovered that dairy was the culprit.

Did that involve a bus?

I agree, sometimes there was a pile on from people who ‘knew’ it was trolling, but actually just misunderstood or got carried away by their own speculations. Annoying.

But generally I like reminiscing- though they’d have to be very distinctive for me to remember.

Greysquirrels · 02/04/2025 22:23

Eatshitderek made me smile when they said they had started answering to Derek in the supermarket.

RIP fluffydressinggown. You were so honest about your troubles and clearly in so much pain.

jan2310 · 02/04/2025 22:24

Mrskoala. I often think about her and wonder how she’s doing.

GarlicSmile · 02/04/2025 22:24

Well, that still happens about twelve times a day, @myplace. (The troll hunting, not the knicker butter.)

I often wonder what happened to BuffytheReasonableFeminist. Her posts on FWR were great, always going off into interesting tangents.

I believe she deregged at the time of the data breach, so many people did. It can make reading old threads disjointed.

and whoever said AF was outed as Kate is wrong, what a silly rumour. Definitely was an NHS worker.

I’ve been on Mumsnet a good decade or so.

I do wonder what proportion of regular users are part of the old lot.

I still feel like a newbie.

I remember when threads would just become catch ups between users.

I’ve been here since 2014 under lots of usernames and very much still feel like a newbie!

I think of the old crowd as the people who were posting back in the early 2000s. I love coming across old threads where people are asking for advice about their toddlers, who would now be in their twenties. And mothers who would have been around mid-thirties at the time and are now close to 60 and retirement age. Really strange to think about.

MooBaggage · 02/04/2025 22:26

I've been here since the beginning and am FB friends with Kewcumber - we were in the same due month group on MN and our babies are now gorgeous young men making their way in the world!

Remember all the names mentioned - plus Zipper (I think it was?!), who had had a trillion c-sections 😁

Yes, me too.
It's bloody tedious all this arse licking.

Nevertrustacop · 02/04/2025 22:29

Wilf is quite big in makaton circles now.
I loved Mary Zed.

It was Bananafish81 and I think about her from time to time too. She was really funny and supportive despite her situation. We were on the same threads for a while (I had a different username back then), and most of us were eventually successful in our fertility journeys, but as far as I remember she wasn't. I hope she is doing well and had a happy outcome in the end.

I met up with her in real life and kept in touch for a while (I was on those threads too). Last I heard from her, she was happy and doing well, she was going to publish a book about infertility.

TooBigForMyBoots · 02/04/2025 22:29

I miss SolidGoldBrass and BuffytheReasonableFeminst. Amazing, intelligent, funny women.❤️

And someone with Usual in their name. Damn my menopause brain.

ExitPursuedByABare · 02/04/2025 22:30

Ooh he’s MaryZ. She was fab but disappeared very suddenly.

Lovely young widow with children who eventually remarried a nice chap and had another child. I loved following her story because she was so good natured and could be very humourous

I remember this. It was true I assume, but it was such a fairytale it was hard to believe life could turn out so perfectly (I'm glad it did as she was lovely!) I remember everyone advising her on what to wear on her date with him, and they ended up marrying and having a baby.

ExitPursuedByABare · 02/04/2025 22:31

Usualsuspect.

ShowOfHands · 02/04/2025 22:31

DH loves Riven's DH's books.

I like reading all the old names on here. It's nice to reminisce.

I've been here forever. Since back when cod was edgarcat.

I miss some of the old staff: Helen and Geri and the Techs in the shed.

Southwestten · 02/04/2025 22:32

There was a poster who lived in Ireland and had some problems with her teenage son, iirc. Was she called Mary something or other?

GentleOtter and her life tenant crofting in Scotland. I followed her blog for a while, but haven't seen anything from her in many years.

My faves are the ones who come on with a different name to mention their old name

🤣 Ooh...another thread is inevitable after this one, so I'll may or may not be doing that too from now on. Or I may start the next thread myself to get there faster. 🤫😇
