I don’t understand people who post on the sixth page of a thread and comment purely on the OP. It feels extremely rude. They often ask questions already answered at length, drag the conversation back from where it has naturally gone to, repeat misunderstanding, or just make a contribution that is pointless. Surely if you’re going to invest the time to post at all, you at least read the OP’s posts and the last few comments? Otherwise it comes across as just not caring and not really engaging, not to mention slightly odd to think that no one else might have made your basic point already.

It makes posting on long threads very frustrating to see the same things being said over and over.

It was actually quiet cold here today, despite the sun.

Better than loud cold.

I don't comment on many threads, mainly because a lot of them are made up rubbish. If I'm interested I do read all of the OP's comments so I know where the thread is at if I'm posting.

I posted about a really difficult housing situation under a different username a few months ago. In my OP, I explained I couldn’t ask friends or family for help and I couldn’t drive. In fact I think I mentioned both things more than once in said OP.

The amount of comments from people saying “can you ask your friends and family for help?” And “could you take up extra work doing Evri, amazon” etc was astounding. As in, a good third of the replies. I knew people didn’t always read the OP but experiencing it AS an OP was something else.

Anyway YANBU

One thing I'd like to point out that never gets taken into account is that until recently (and I'm talking very recently, 2-3 weeks ago ish) if you use the android app you couldn't just filter on OP's posts. If the thread was 600 comments you would have to just scroll through manually and hope you don't miss one. I understand the Apple app has had the filter feature for a long time but we haven't, so if it's a busy thread lots of android app users won't be able to easily "just read the OP's posts" as I so often see mentioned here.

I live how the rudest, most clueless person in this thread is also the one repeatedly citing long paragraphs written by others. Clearly the desire to make every thread they are on less readable expresses itself through many facets.

Even more annoying when someone claims to have spat their tea out. Did you though?

Yes otherwise I wouldn't of said it
