Just been listening to this Spring Statement. What a load of total waffle. About how great things are going to be. Absolute and utter nonsense.

Yeah - there are folks desperate to find something heinous she's done. I prefer to let her get on with her job. If she fucks up, I'll admit I got her wrong. She hasn't had long enough yet to judge results. I find the hunt for reasons to discredit her a bit gratuitous really. I really hate the 'Rachel from accounts' shtick- smells like misogyny to me.

She already has fucked up - she has implemented measures which have directly reduced the uk’s growth prospects all while crowing about being all about growth. It’s all very well being determined and business-like but you do actually have to make good decisions and she appears to be miles out of her depth. The problem Labour have is that there isn’t anyone obviously better.

The “Rachel from accounts” thing is indeed deeply offensive - to accountants. I’m a CFO and there’s no way she’d ever get a job in my accounting team.

Whatever he was, he was totally unfit for office.

How so?

Bumpitybumpbumplook · 26/03/2025 13:39

When she speaks I see fear in her.

YourWinter · 26/03/2025 13:39

She’s detestable, spiteful and I wouldn’t trust her to tell me the time of day.

This.

JeanGenieJean · 26/03/2025 13:40

She is completely out of her depth, like a rabbit in the headlights. Starmer nods along like a puppet. Both dreadful.

ilovesooty · 26/03/2025 13:40

Geetf · 26/03/2025 13:38

How so?

I don't think I can be bothered to explain to someone who seriously believes that Johnson was ever a credible politician.

Sadcafe · 26/03/2025 13:40

Regardless of what she has or hasn’t done, if she says promised by labour, delivered by labour opposed by the parties opposite one more time !!!!!

Well, the country voted Labour, we got Labour. If you don't like it, you should probably crack on and campaign for your preferred alternative.

Classic answer from someone who doesn't know the answer.

dottydodah · 26/03/2025 13:43

RR is a hypocrite ,she has cut benefits to the poor and disabled.Made it difficult for pensioners and somehow lied and cheated her CV! How on earth anyone can like her is beyond me .I voted Labour as I felt they cared about the poor,How wrong I was ,They are like a watered down Tory party .Voting green in future !

AzurePanda · 26/03/2025 13:46

Most incompetent Chancellor in living memory. The increase in NI was indefensible and hugely damaging to small business.

Meadowfinch · 26/03/2025 13:18

I'll never miss Boris as PM, but I do miss Rishi as chancellor. At least he understood the principles of economics.

He knows how to make himself rich

‘Rachel from accounts’ who has crashed the economy, and had previously been accused of plagiarising other people’s work, bunking off work and being investigated for it, and fiddling expenses when working for a bank. What a record!

Are you a woman, Anna?

If so, please never use this “Rachel From Accounts” shit again, it is offensive and reductive. It implies women are only good for low level back office jobs, should know their place and get back in their box.

For what it’s worth, I think RR has made some terrible decisions.

AgnesX · 26/03/2025 13:50

No more so than any of the others. Jeremy Hunt was a smug faced pain when he was in post so no difference.

Frankly, it's academic who they are and what party they're in.

My mortgage rate is still high after her disastrous budget of last autumn,

I thought mortgage rates shot up after the Liz Truss debacle ?

Yes they did and they’ve come down 3 times since then.

HumanRightsAreHumanRights · 26/03/2025 13:53

So, Rachel Reeves plans to provide "upfront investment so we can support more children into foster care to give them the best possible start in life and reduce cost pressures in the future" and that is priority enough she's speaking about it in her Spring Statement?

Is it only me who finds that chilling?

Totally agree!

CurlewKate · 26/03/2025 13:54

I do hate the misogyny. There is so little criticism of what she actually said on this thread. “Rachel from Accounts” is particularly egregious. Nobody would accept (and rightly not) Rishi form the Corner Shop.

Chilling that abused children can be rescued ?
