Just been listening to this Spring Statement. What a load of total waffle. About how great things are going to be. Absolute and utter nonsense.

Her attempts to gloss over the things that really matter are nauseating. Where are measures to help education (primary, secondary or tertiary), or the NHS?

I like her. Businesslike and competent.

Totally agre with you. She comes across as chippy and insecure. I know many professional women with more gravitas and warmth. Like many in the Labour party she strikes me as someone that was promoted too high too quickly to serve diversity targets. As a professional woman in a very male dominated environment, this annoys me immensely as it does womem who are good at their jobs a disservice and makes it harder for us to be taken seriously.

I miss having Boris as PM and Rishi as chancellor

My council tax is up by 5%, my water bill has shot up (Thames Water), My mortgage rate is still high after her disastrous budget of last autumn, every service I use from chimney sweeps to car mechanics is much more expensive because of her NI hike.

Yeah - there are folks desperate to find something heinous she's done. I prefer to let her get on with her job. If she fucks up, I'll admit I got her wrong. She hasn't had long enough yet to judge results. I find the hunt for reasons to discredit her a bit gratuitous really. I really hate the 'Rachel from accounts' shtick- smells like misogyny to me.

She needs growth.

The only way she can get that is by taxing unearned income more strongly and lowering income taxes.

She can't borrow any money to spend in the economy because the markets won't let her. That's why the foreign aid budget got slashed to fund the military - otherwise it would all have gone on the tab.

Because she is not willing to change the taxes on unearned income she has effectively hamstrung herself. Laffer says that raising income tax will not result in growth.

We're effectively got Tories in charge, that is why she is cutting the benefits budget dramatically.

A GSCE economics student could figure this stuff out.
