What one cocktail would you make to please a crowd of girls

Hosting my sister’s birthday. I want to make cocktails. The element in my home will be pyjamas and pizza. So quite relaxed. What cocktail can i make that will suit most people (wine, beer will also be available). I like quite tangy, spicy cocktails so don’t think my go tos would be a good choice.

Pornstar Martini?
Cosmo?
Strawberry Daiquiri? (hate it)
Espresso Martinis? (Love)

From your list Cosmo would be the best bet.

I’d suggest doing two different types. I’d do a vodka or gin based as most people can bear one or the other. Rum and tequila based ones are great but maybe not as safe choices.

Bramble - gin, lemon juice, blackcurrant liqueur.

French 75 - gin, lemon, fizz.

Sea breeze - vodka, cranberry, grapefruit and lime.

Rasberry vodka lemonade - vodka, rasberry liqueur, lemonade and soda.

Another vote for sangria. I know it sounds a bit naff but a well made sangria with decent red wine is absolutely perfect to make at scale and serve in jugs.

I hadn't heard of Hugos before but they sound like a simple crowd pleaser.

Personally I think mojiotos, margaritas, martinis etc are not easy to scale up. To make them well they need to be freshly shaken one or two drinks at a time.

I hate Espresso martinis. I love coffee and drink a lot of it but the tried an Espresso Martini and the bitter taste was rank. Love a French or Porn star martini.

It's genetics, not pickiness.

There are two genetic variants that affect how people metabolism caffeine. If you have both of the variants that mean you don't metabolise it well (like me), you are very likely to avoid coffee because of the pretty crappy effect it has on you.

For me, I feel nauseous and shaky.

Nothing to do with being picky, just not wanting to feel ill!

I though Madras seemed an odd choice for a cocktail, then I saw your jalapeno one and it all made sense 😄

Pina Colada

From your list, I would suggest making 2 - strawberry daiquiri and pornstar martinis. Honestly though? Group cocktails are hard. I'd do 2 and have something like a daiquiri or pina colada along side a bellini or hugo spritz. They're contrasting and hopefully people will like one or the other.

I like mojitos but I know quite a few that don't, and similarly I like tequila but know a few that don't. I hate sangria. I wouldn't touch a drop of it but they've all been popular suggestions in this thread.

What glasses will you be using? That might influence your decision. I’d maybe do a choice of 2 or 3 based around the same spirits.

Mojitos in various flavours.

Possibly didn't have enough sugar syrup and/or the vodka:kaluah balance was off (just in case you ever felt like trying again, they are a bit variable but as a big coffee drinker I love a good one)

I would go for Bellini's. They are easy to make and you could set up a bellini bar with a few different fruits and purees for people to pick from.

I would opt for the Cosmo as it is very easy to prepare in bulk and it's a martini cocktail, so it's compact and therefore easier to fit more into a shaker compared to tall drinks. Mojitos may be fun to make at first, but they're a bit faffy to keep preparing for a large group.

As another random option, and my absolute fave. I'd suggest a Mai Tai:

I’d go with mojitos, if you wanted to cater for different tastes you could offer a choice of classic or raspberry.

Martini. No one will like them, but after 2 they wont care.

Spicy margs for sure

Peach Bellini would be my choice - easy to make and tasty, sounds classy too.

Personally I don't like coffee and think aperol is vile and only useful for masking cheap and nasty wine.
