Knickers... How many is too many?

We are changing our bedroom furniture and my new knicker drawer is smaller than the old one; the the drawer needed to be sorted. Turns out I have 173 pairs of knickers!
This got me wondering, does anyone have less than 20 pairs? What is the minimum?

I had a cull recently of one with elastic that had frayed etc so now I have about 25. I have yet to sort socks but I fear I may have about 50 pairs but they are different as I have thermal ones etc whereas knickers I only have either shorts or thongs.

Probably about 40 but 10 ish are period pants.

Remaining pants are a mix of cuts in about 40% dark, 40% light, 20% Nude.

I typically buy 2-3 matching knicks per bra in a range of styles. Lights and low cuts are mostly for summer clothes. High cut when I'm bloated or wearing dresses.

I aim for about 2 weeks of good undies per season (so 2 weeks of summer pants- light and low cut, 2 weeks of winter pants)

I have at least 20,i change into a new pair when I exercise as they get sweaty.
God 12 knickers a week. 😂

I'm sure I've got less than 20, probably less than dozen. Some of them are falling apart too.......

Minimum to be comfortable I would say is enough for 2 pairs of regular every day pants a day (I like to be prepared for accidents...... 😅) multiplied by the number of days between washdays!
Less would be fine, but there's no need to be too extremely Minimalistic, when you are cutting down from nearly 200 pairs anything will he an improvement 🤣.
Plus maybe half a dozen fancy pairs if you like them and will wear them?

I can't bear waste, so provided they fit and are a style you will wear I would be inclined to bag up all the others and store them in the garage/loft if possible and just fetch some out whenever you wear some out.
No need for you to go knicker shopping again in this lifetime!

Around 15 is enough - that’s two weeks covered.

Definitely 2 pairs per day on holiday.

If you are going to have a cull, take all your ones to be thrown out on your
next holiday. Wear them and then throw them away. You don’t have to bring a load of dirty knickers home with you.

I have six identical pairs of Tu midi briefs for daytime and five looser pairs from Tesco to wear in bed. It’s plenty, nobody else sees my underwear.

Easily 50-60. Loads I don't wear anymore though!

I'm most impressed at that number. I have 50, I'm doing the no clothes buying for a year challenge so I can't buy any new for a while.

I live on my own so by the time I have separated laundry into lights, darks and delicates it can be ages before I have enough for a full load including knickers wash.

So have loads of pants. And socks.

I've got about 40/50 pairs. I go cruising a lot and I'm not hand washing them.

I used to only have about 10 pairs. I tend to wear them until they are falling apart. The naff old ones become period knickers over time.

I recently bought an 8 pack that were so comfortable I bought three more packs. I'm very fussy about the shape and the one I prefer is an uncommon one so I wanted to stock up when I had the chance.

I feel like 40 pairs is too many now but I wanted to keep having enough long after some start falling apart.

I think you need to have a bit of a cull and get rid of any that you don't actually wear, with those numbers you'd only wear each set twice a year!

I want to know how on earth you have got to a place where you have 173 pairs of nickers ??

I thought I was being extravagant last year when we went away for a month and I treated myself to enough for a pair for each day.

@CoolOtter I have a similar amount. I have a fear of running out of knickers!
Granted some of them are too small and I dream of fitting into them one day. Some are so old they came from BHS.

Not counted by maybe 25 pairs which include “best” ones that don’t even fit me now

I have got about 42 pairs. I keep them in the wardrobe on those stretchy hangers used for skirts or trousers. I have got 7 pairs on each hanger and wear them in order. I did this to try and wean out all the old holey knickers by wearing and then chucking if they were no good but have kept the system going.

Who wants to hand wash ever? Let alone on holiday and least of all underwear.

Ideally I’d have 3 pairs a day on holiday, one in the morning while nipping to the shop for breakfast, one at lunchtime while back in our room for lunch, clean pair in the evening. Also, I get a sweaty bum.

This has inspired me to count mine. I jave 2 drawers one for every day/period knickers (as in I wear them then) and the other is for the more adventurous sorts and occasions.

I have 79!!! Can't actually believe it. A small fortune has been spent!

How on earth do people cope with such few pairs?! You must be constantly doing washing!

What happens if you go away for a couple of weeks and you need to pack 14 pairs?! Do you wear no knickers in the lead up to your holiday, and when you get back? Or do you just wear the same pair over multiple days? 😂

I haven’t counted, but I reckon that I have at least 50 pairs. All different kinds. Comfy cotton everyday knickers, period knickers, special occasion knickers, seam free knickers for when I need to avoid vpl, sexy knickers etc etc

Perhaps I should refer to them as my collection!

I used to travel a lot for work and trips would get extended requiring popping to the shops for extra. Then there are shopping trips when I see a pretty pair. Then there are holidays when I need 2.5 pairs a day. I cannot put on worn knickers after my evening shower on hols. I have some lovely patterned Sloggi pairs that must be over 25 years old!
