Obviously I did it just to spite my 15yr old

I broke the shower this morning.
Obiously I did it purely to spite my 15yr old and no one else could possibly be as inconvenienced as her by having to have a bath instead.
What things have you done on purpose purely to make life difficult for your teen (according to your teen)?

It is just as well that this is an anonymous site and people can disguise their identity as otherwise, social services would be swooping across the length and breadth of the country to remove all these poor suffering teenagers from their terrible homes

FlibbertyGibbitt · 16/03/2025 18:12

I also as a teen was embarrassed by my dad when we went to the local chippy and he put said bags of chips into a red shopping bag. In my mind it was an old ladies’ bag. I was terrified someone might see me from school.

How I wish I could go to the chippy with him now ☹️

I've read out bits of this thread to dp who has reminded me of the story of his dad (who I adored and miss so much)

Dp swears he had the best parents and the best childhood

Dad was a bit of a del boy, always ducking and diving but worked hard for his family and played even harder for himself

He smoked too much, ate all the wrong foods, drank a lot and didn't do any exercise

Dp told someone that dad was in the SAS and this kid didn't believe him and they ended up having a fight (dad couldn't have been less SAS material)

He kept it quiet at the time, but years later the story came out (at this time dp had been married, became a father of 2,had got divorced and met me)

He had a tantrum because his dad just LOOKED at him (in the only way his dad could) and asked why he said that?

48 years old and he threw a tantrum over something that happened when he was 14

It ended in a sobbing mess and 'you promised me a bmx and bought me a racer!'

I guess he'd been holding onto resentment all these years!

We laugh about it now and it was mentioned at his funeral

Lanzarotelady · 16/03/2025 18:14

Too many instances, but one springs out, made him get up at 1pm, to take him to dino golf at the Trafford centre ( he wanted to go ) and then I beat him! Apparently I am not only the worlds worst mum, I am a awful human being!

Gingernaut · 16/03/2025 18:14

My mum had mental health issues which manifested as a kind of severe pride in appearance

I couldn't leave the house without everything bring ironed

I was mortified when we were finally allowed to wear jeans (this was the 70s and 80s) with creases ironed down the legs

Hazey19 · 16/03/2025 18:16

Speaking, singing, dancing, breathing. All of these things I’m not allowed to do in my teenagers company. However it just makes me do them more to be even more annoying.

Runnersandtoms · 16/03/2025 18:16

I'm a terrible parent because I didn't go shopping yesterday (due to leaving the house at 6.30am for a work thing when everyone else was snoring). Since my daughter used up the milk the previous night making smoothies there was no milk for cereal. And also apparently there was 'no food in the house' (there is a fridge, two freezers and two cupboards full of food). The outrage that she had to get in the car I pay for, drive to the shop and get some milk herself.....

Purplecatshopaholic · 16/03/2025 18:17

My 15 year old is an absolute darling. Of course that may be because he’s a cat…

AndrewPreview · 16/03/2025 14:33

I looked at my daughter once.

15 is peak moody teen age.

Don’t tell me that I have a 14 year old, it gets worse?

OldCottageGreenhouse · 16/03/2025 18:20

Not officially a teenager yet but I ruin mine’s life every time I point at the bathroom and demand teeth are brushed

JadeMember · 16/03/2025 18:20

When I was teenager, my mum ruined my life by hanging my clothes in the wardrobe. I wanted them in the big pile on the bottom of my wardrobe!
My DD 14, doesn’t allow her brother to breathe in the same room because she doesn’t want to breathe the air from his lungs

northfacespacerace · 16/03/2025 18:22

I ordered and paid for the hoody she wanted off Vinted. She doesn’t like it, it’s all my fault

BashfulClam · 16/03/2025 18:24

My friend says hello to her 14 year old son today as she passed him in the park whilst taking the dog for a walk. Apparently she’s so embarrassing! She just smiled and said ‘hi’ as she walked past but his life is ruined!

ladycarlotta · 16/03/2025 18:27

When I was 15 my dad said he'd like to take me to Paris for a weekend.
WHAT. A. DICK.

I filled several pages in my diary about how un-fun and actually borderline abusive this would be.

She’s food restricting and is worryingly underweight Dh and I are kindly but firmly insisting she eats - like the bastards we are.

So sorry, been there. It's hard work for the tyrants, hope you have some support x

Topseyt123 · 16/03/2025 18:28

I used to ruin the lives of my three when they were teenagers by just existing.

Teenagers don't want to admit to having parents. We are not cool pets at all apparently. 🙄🤣

I also bought a yellow car. DS2 is an adult but with autism/LDs and he finds my gorgeous bright yellow car MORTIFYING Grin

I was saying earlier to DH when out this afternoon as we passed a lovely yellow
Clio that I had once really wanted to have a yellow car. I always hated my dm answering the door to my friends especially after she told them it was real brass monkey weather and embarrassing me.

WellsAndThistles · 16/03/2025 18:34

My Mum ironed my amazingly trendy (market knock off) shell suit and melted the bloody thing.

She also caused me a lifetime of embarrassment by cutting my sandwiches into dainty little triangles for a school trip 😳😳😳😳😳😳

ghostyslovesheets · 16/03/2025 18:35

I’ve ruined my 16 year olds life this week by:

1 buying salt and vinegar crisps from ALDI!
2 washing a top that had been in the basket for 24 hours when she wanted to wear it today
3 waking her up at 9am talking to the cat

It's ok I've reported the thread to MN and they've confirmed they are passing on all the IP addresses and people's posting history to the police so they can track down each and every one of these appalling parents and rescue the poor poor children 😢 💔

I hope you all hang your heads in shame and have learned the error of your ways, it's common knowledge that you don't ever talk to your teens friends/your friends/shop workers/anyone when in the company of your teen. It's common knowledge you don't breathe near them or look at them!

Smugly typing this as I cuddle with DD9 knowing I'll never make these mistakes and will continue to be the best mum ever in her eyes once she becomes a teen 💖 😂😂

Edited to add; oh actually ignore the last paragraph I just made the mistake of calling her my baby girl and now I'm the actual worst 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

You evil cow, how could you have been so careless to break the shower before your team had had a chance to have her shower????

Hang your head and shine and get the plumber in first thing in the morning!!

Bath indeed!!!!

🤣🤣

strangecarinroad · 16/03/2025 18:46

My son informed me his friends mother is absolutely awful and currently going mad.
Her crime?
She apparently cooks organic meals from scratch everyday.

Apparently they have to go to Macdonald's regularly or the poor boy would starve to death 😂

All I could think was what an awful mother I am as I don't have time to do that everyday. His friends mother is a SAHM and lovely btw.

My crimes are many

  • I don't supply enough snacks and DS is being starved.
-I "stole his best jeans" in reality I picked them off the bathroom floor and washed them!. -I dared to have a chat with his friends mother in the supermarket when he was with me. Apparently it is not acceptable to talk to other parents ( despite having talked to her daily for 7 years of primary school). -I spoke to his friends when I was giving them all a lift home from 6th form.
hazelowens · 16/03/2025 18:48

My eldest son moved out to live with his dad cause we asked him to wash dishes. He pays to his dad £120 just so he doesn't have to do dishes but his dad's girlfriend is an arse so he sometimes has just his own dishes and he isn't allowed to put the dish washer on so he ends up doing dishes anyway and pays for it aswell lol

My mother has ruined my life the last three years by being a snowbird and leaving me motherless for 2.5 months a year.

The fact that she has left me, her car as compensation is noted, but not enough. I have no one to make me cookies and feed me wine

I had never heard that expression before and, for a few seconds, thought your mother had actually turned into a glorious white bird!

hazelowens · 16/03/2025 18:53

My dad worked for the council driving the mobile library van and my younger sister found it so embarrassing that her dad did this so he would go and do donuts in the car park tooting the horn and flashing the lights.

She was the talk of the school and wanted a week off to get thru it. My dad laughed and said he would keep doing it the more it embarrassed her.
