Obviously I did it just to spite my 15yr old

I broke the shower this morning.
Obiously I did it purely to spite my 15yr old and no one else could possibly be as inconvenienced as her by having to have a bath instead.
What things have you done on purpose purely to make life difficult for your teen (according to your teen)?

The level on bad parenting on this thread is shocking - from screen time to basic hygiene and just being there is really something! 🤣 hopefully we are doing something right 🤦🏽‍♀️

AllrightNowBaby · 16/03/2025 15:36

I once ruined my Gs life by looking at him when he was playing football with his mates Later I was told to NEVER do that again and I haven’t 😊

SauvignonBlonk · 16/03/2025 15:40

DD is 12 and already in the thick of the moody phase. How dare I suggest she eat something!!!! I’m so unreasonable, lol.

RunLikeTheWild · 16/03/2025 15:43

I ruin my adult dd's life daily by not putting the blind up high enough in the kitchen.

Sorry I don't like being face to face with our neighbours every morning when I've still got my dressing gown on and bed hair, no offence to them.

But I do put the kitchen light on to compensate but apparently that light is awful.

I dont know how I could be so mean making her live rent free like this.

Zilla1 · 16/03/2025 15:46

Don't worry, OP. Just ask your DD what a suitable hourly compensation rate would be for the unavailability of an essential utility then, like a public service, (repeatedly forget to) pay her that.

My mother has ruined my life the last three years by being a snowbird and leaving me motherless for 2.5 months a year.

The fact that she has left me, her car as compensation is noted, but not enough. I have no one to make me cookies and feed me wine

Effitall · 16/03/2025 15:47

Next time any of mine dare to moan about my awfulness, I will be using the tales of this thread to let them know just how bad some kids have it 🤣

changedusernameforthis1 · 16/03/2025 15:48

My teen absolutely hates showers and will only have baths - I think if I broke the bath and suggested a shower to him, I'd need a pep talk beforehand (and a large glass of wine) 😂

jewelcase · 16/03/2025 15:49

Recently I bought my DD (12) an apple snack bag from Lidl instead of an apple and grape snack bag.

I am a truly awful person.

Fuuuuuckit · 16/03/2025 15:51

I took my dad to a uni open day yesterday.

Apparently nobody else took a parent (they did, I met lots of parents!) and I was mortally embarrassing for asking an actual question at check-in (where the nearest toilet is).

She was going to go on her own, with a friend, until she worked out how much the train fare/hotel bill/meals would cost £££ but by me taking her I paid... I'm such a bitch.

EnjoythemoneyJane · 16/03/2025 15:54

I’ve nothing to add. I only came on here so I could flounce dramatically out again and slam the door.

PeachesPeachesPeachesPeachesPeaches · 16/03/2025 15:55

Not a teen but a tween. I need to do online check in for our cruise at the end of the month. Obviously the passport style photo they’re asking me to take of each passenger was designed just to piss of my tween who has flat out refused and kicked the fuck off, infront of my entire family.

How dare she! Selfishly swanning off like that, and really just using you to keep the car battery working. You don't deserve it 💐

Harrumphhhh · 16/03/2025 15:56

None of you are as bad as me.

Apparently, the existence of school is all my fault.

@Ph3 Yeah, you sound like a right tyrant 😆.

My mum tried to ruin my life in my teens by buying a bright yellow car and insisting on using it to drive me to school in (we weren't on the bus route). She said she chose it because she liked the colour but canny old me knew better and it was only my sheer sense of goodwill and martyrdom that she was allowed to drive me in it daily!

My mum bought an orange Fiat Strada… with grey plastic bumpers.

Luckily she was too mean to drive me to school anyway 😂.

sophiasnail · 16/03/2025 15:58

I'm a secondary maths teacher so I can seriously inconvenience 30 at once just by saying "use a pencil and ruler for the diagrams please"

LauderSyme · 16/03/2025 16:01

This thread is 😆😆😆

My career choices have ruined my 15 year old's life because I don't earn enough to give him hundreds a month in pocket money or buy him a £4k gaming computer and £1k gaming chair at the drop of a hat.

My dad kept threatening to buy a skoda to drivers to school. In the early nineties whe they were the height of embarrassment. Or a Lada.

We took the bus.

I ruin every morning by opening DC bedroom curtains when the room has to be as dark as a cave at all times.
Worse, I ruined dinner last week when we had no potatoes to mash so I served chips with steak instead. ON PURPOSE!

Hankunamatata · 16/03/2025 16:03

Preparing and cooking dinner each evening.

Psychic ability to know they needed x item of clothing washed

I've just googled that as actually I think it's quite cool and rather a nice colour 😳. Guess that proves my teenage years are a long way behind me!

BillyILash · 16/03/2025 16:08

I didn’t automatically think to change the size of some T-shirts she put in a shopping basket to fit her. Apparently I should have known she put that size in (her actual age) because the size below was oos and should have known to check and change the size telepathically!

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 16/03/2025 16:09

@andHelenknowsimmiserablenow Your teen dc would hate it round my house, chips are always served with steak. It's the actual law!

edwinbear · 16/03/2025 16:10

I drove for 3 hours yesterday to a sports event DS wanted to do. I bought him the over priced event hoody (which is horrible apparently). He didn’t do quite as well as he wanted to - which is all my fault.

DontTellMeWhat2Do · 16/03/2025 16:10

17yo DD is mad that her DGM will move in to keep a watch on her whilst we go on holiday for a week. DD believes she can look after herself.

  • DD does not drive so would not be able to get to school or part time job. We are not near a train station, there are no direct bus routes, its quite a walk and DD hates walking.
  • DD thinks she can look after elderly and sick DDog herself despite being at school and having a part time job.
  • DD is scared of the dark.
  • DDs room is a complete pig sty yet she thinks she can manage a whole house by herself.
  • DD thinks DTortoise is 'gross' but thinks she can clean out its tank etc in our absence.
  • DD does very little cooking yet expects to sustain herself.

Of course I am being totes unreasonable to let DGM move in, feed her, walk dog, drive her places, keep her room and house tidy so she doesn't have to.

oh and I'm also very unreasonable not to by DD her own brand new car and expect her to learn in my "old" VW Up.
