Obviously I did it just to spite my 15yr old

I broke the shower this morning.
Obiously I did it purely to spite my 15yr old and no one else could possibly be as inconvenienced as her by having to have a bath instead.
What things have you done on purpose purely to make life difficult for your teen (according to your teen)?

I think most of us with teens, ruin their lives, simply by breathing, so you’re off to a head start actually doing something that’s not your body’s reflexive action.

Im a cow and I’d probably suggest that if tern is so distressed by lack of shower they raid their savings to get it fixed.

BobbyBiscuits · 16/03/2025 14:30

I don't have kids but when I was 15 I thought my mum was trying to sabotage my entire attempted existence as someone incredibly edgy and rock n roll. But still wanted a cuddle and sat on her lap sometimes.

Ph3 · 16/03/2025 14:31

I ruin my pre teen’s (12) life on the daily by: asking him to shower, put deodorant, brush teeth properly, do homework, to please get up otherwise he’s going to be late for school, set the table, when dinner is ready, picking up his clothes from the floor…

AndrewPreview · 16/03/2025 14:33

I looked at my daughter once.

15 is peak moody teen age.

SpringIsSpringing25 · 16/03/2025 14:34

You evil cow, how could you have been so careless to break the shower before your team had had a chance to have her shower????

Hang your head and shine and get the plumber in first thing in the morning!!

Bath indeed!!!!

🤣🤣

@Ph3 Yeah, you sound like a right tyrant 😆.

My mum tried to ruin my life in my teens by buying a bright yellow car and insisting on using it to drive me to school in (we weren't on the bus route). She said she chose it because she liked the colour but canny old me knew better and it was only my sheer sense of goodwill and martyrdom that she was allowed to drive me in it daily!

Shetlands · 16/03/2025 14:42

My Mum ruined my life in 1969 when she washed my Levi jeans and they weren't dry when I needed to go out. I only had one pair of jeans so I wore them damp!

Hollowvoice · 16/03/2025 14:52

On Friday I said one DC could eat some sweets the other DC didn't know were there and I was planning to get more of on my way home anyway.
Obviously I was horrible and mean and completely unreasonable when DC2 found DC1 eating them.

Timeforabiscuit · 16/03/2025 15:01

I picked out trainers today purely based on my daughters facial expression when I touched them.

That she has better taste than me is some consultation!

TheSandgroper · 16/03/2025 15:03

I would put the laptop, the ipad and the phone into a box every night and lock it.

Yeah, that didn’t make her happy.

I have never heard something so selfish. How dare your mum! How could she think she has a right to pick a colour she likes for a car she is paying for. Shocking really.
Im really happy to hear you were the bigger person and despite your mums obvious faults you allowed her to drive you to school daily. I hope she thanked you for being so forgiving!

I've literally just taken the lid off the biscuit tin and 18yr old dd has walked past in disgust because they are not to her liking. If looks could kill.....

Happyears · 16/03/2025 15:07

No teenager has ever been as badly treated as yours today.

Leavesandacorns · 16/03/2025 15:09

My mum ruined my life as a teen by taking me to the cinema with my granny (to see a film I desperately wanted to see, no less). How could I live with the shame of people knowing I had a loving family 😬

Yeah, but that works, more for you!!

CharlotteFlax · 16/03/2025 15:20

I’ve committed the crime of not providing never ending snacks to my DS15. What a bitch.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 16/03/2025 15:20

Thank you @Ph3 it's nice that someone understands.
The sad thing was she was just too self involved to understand and even after 5 YEARS of loyal service on my part of allowing her to ferry me about twice a day she still thought she was doing me the favour. And to add insult to serious injury sometimes she'd try and talk to me too 😯.
The funny thing is that car came up in conversation recently and she quite wistfully said "oh I loved that car, it was such a great colour". Bless her, there's no helping some people 😂.

Seainasive · 16/03/2025 15:22

I’m about to ruin my teen’s life by booking a summer holiday. It’s so unfair that I won’t allow him to spend the whole of summer gaming in his pants in his own room.

Terrible! Did she insist on paying too? If so I hope she understood what an act of service you were undertaking by letting her!

arcticpandas · 16/03/2025 15:27

I ruin my 15 y old DS's life every day on insisting he goes to school, eat food instead of just crisps, tell him to use deodorant, comb his hair and brush his teeth. He loves to shower so atleast that's not a battle. Most it's about using his phone that I confiscate every evening. I'm not a cool mum. Oh, if I happen to look at him he screams "Stoop that".

Thirteenblackcat · 16/03/2025 15:30

My 15 year old is a darling and can do no wrong, I am however ruining my 10 year olds life by buying seeded bread 😂

LovePoppy · 16/03/2025 15:30

Later today I’m going to insist my preteen shower AND blow dry her hair.

That will earn me an hour of glaring. If I’m lucky it will be the silent treatment too.

minnienono · 16/03/2025 15:30

I ruined my DDs’ lives once by going on holiday, not only was there was no 3G (going back a while) signal but no phone signal nor WiFi, I’m very cruel. It was for 5 whole nights (so 4 full days). They did enjoy the water sports but moaned every evening about no signal. Ironically they remember the holiday differently now, how we played board games every evening!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/03/2025 15:34

This morning, I was on time for picking her up from her father’s house.

Oh gosh - it sounds like you really had a terrible upbringing. 🤭 I mean why would she insist of talking to you as well is beyond me. It’s really pushing it. Why would you want to talk to your mum at all? 🤣 as you said She’s clearly beyond help. I hope you managed to just get some proper boundaries in place because the way she parented is next level! I hope that at least when she picked you up she didn’t ask you how your day was!
