Obviously I did it just to spite my 15yr old

I broke the shower this morning.
Obiously I did it purely to spite my 15yr old and no one else could possibly be as inconvenienced as her by having to have a bath instead.
What things have you done on purpose purely to make life difficult for your teen (according to your teen)?

@Poppymeldrum If it's one of these migraine inducing bright green ones that have suddenly started flooding the roads for then you have my sympathy and hopefully your well earned Pride of Britain award will be with you soon.

But the thought of you sat slumped in the passenger seat with your hood up like a teen did make me laugh!

It is
It's loud, green and he thinks it's the coolest car ever made (doesn't help that everyone agrees with him)
He bought it the day after our first grandchild was born
I came outside for a look 'you can't take me to meet our grandchild in that!it's grrreeeeeennn!'
We met her and she didn't seem too fussed
Ds thought it was hilarious

Mimoftwo · 16/03/2025 17:20

So funny , I'm dying here ready the audacity of parent's! Lol !

I painted the walls of a room in my house a colour that I chose….

Haha DS came round yesterday and told me the paint on my wall hurt his eyes. It's bloody cream

Notalaundry · 16/03/2025 17:20

Currently ruining DD’s life by ‘forcing’ her go to extra GCSE revision classes for 2 hrs on a Saturday afternoon, meaning she has to get up and be ready by 12pm, which I’m sure you will all agree is thoroughly unreasonable of me.
Also I said I will not be driving her to her college in September, so she will ‘have to’ make her own way there. Which is all of a 10 minute walk away 🙄.
Oh and everyone else lets their 15 year olds stay up until 1am on a school night.

IWillAlwaysBeinaClubWithYouin1973 · 16/03/2025 17:20

It's all very much cutted up pear territory isn't it!

Timeandtune · 16/03/2025 17:21

When DS1 was 15 we left a cafe where I treated him and some pals.
i spotted a friend across the road and had the audacity to shout hello ( and wave) .
He was furious.
Anyhoo he is now 30 and the friendliest talk to strangers young man.

I once ruined my Gs life by looking at him when he was playing football with his mates Later I was told to NEVER do that again and I haven’t 😊

Oh, dear! 😱

I took my dad to a uni open day yesterday.

Apparently nobody else took a parent (they did, I met lots of parents!) and I was mortally embarrassing for asking an actual question at check-in (where the nearest toilet is).

She was going to go on her own, with a friend, until she worked out how much the train fare/hotel bill/meals would cost £££ but by me taking her I paid... I'm such a bitch.

And then you come online and brag about it. You should be ashamed. I hope the university gave your poor child the number for childline

Simonandrod · 16/03/2025 17:23

I speak to their friends. Only after coming back having made my embarrassing self scarce and ordered them domino's. And just to say goodbye. Shocking behaviour

Sgtmajormummy · 16/03/2025 17:24

There was no chocolate in the weekly shop.
She does help me put the shopping away but I suspect it’s just to see what goodies I’ve bought.
Another time she suddenly needed €2 and I only had loose change.
Mortifying.

CeliaCanth · 16/03/2025 17:25

I wore a jacket at university drop off 😱

TwistedWonder · 16/03/2025 17:26

I ruined my DS life at age 14 by FORCING him to go on holiday with me to Zante for a week, dragging him out bed by midday, making him sit round the pool (in the shade) and daring to ask ‘do you really want chips every day for lunch?’

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 16/03/2025 17:29

I wore yellow trousers & had to walk behind my son in shame. I hope he forgives me soon.

I'm a secondary maths teacher so I can seriously inconvenience 30 at once just by saying "use a pencil and ruler for the diagrams please"

Good grief! You make Whackford Squeers seem like a model of liberality!

😆

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 16/03/2025 17:32

I moved my arms around too much!

OMG how unreasonable - why can't they use the edge of a book and a biro FFS? Or even better do the whole thing freehand in felt pen?

Rocknrollstar · 16/03/2025 17:04

I put patches on the elbows of my teen DDs school cardigan. apparently holes were the fashion and she’s worked hard to make them.

Sorry but I think I sympathize with your dd on this one!

Snorlaxo · 16/03/2025 17:33

I’ve been blamed when ds couldn’t find something but I could find it immediately and have definitely been blamed for the weather even though I’m always saying that it rains 70% of the year so not having a raincoat or umbrella is crazy.
Dd blamed me for a bad hair day and I’ve been moaned at because bin day was Thursday. 🤔

TeaIsNice · 16/03/2025 17:35

I'd book myself into a hotel if I were you - you're dicing with death here 😂

WhamBamThankU · 16/03/2025 17:35

To be fair I bought a wolf fleece purely to embarrass my 16 year old son. I link him when we’re at the supermarket and he’s with me when I’ve got it on.

TeaIsNice · 16/03/2025 17:36

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 16/03/2025 17:32

I moved my arms around too much!

I move my legs too much. Sing too much. Wee too loud. Sneeze too loud.

NancyJoan · 16/03/2025 17:36

I wore a hat on Thursday. My DS was not with me, and only saw said hat when I came through the door. It was, nonetheless, ‘so embarrassing’.

Eastie77Returns · 16/03/2025 17:37

DD was messaged after a Netball game last week, demanding extra money on her pre pay Debit card so she could go to McDonalds.

I cruelly replied that dinner was ready at home but this was evidence of how evil I am as poor DD had to go to McDonalds first as she was “weak with hunger”.

I checked and she already had £7 on there so explained I wasn’t adding any more money.

This meant that when she went to McDonalds she was only able to get a meal but not some additional food items on top. This meant, as she angrily explained to me later, she had “sit and watch” her friends eat said additional treats while the poor lamb only had a milkshake along with her meal.

I’m expecting a visit from Social Services any minute now.

TwistedWonder · 16/03/2025 17:37

I play embarrassing music (house) and should listen to normal music like other old people apparently

Mimoftwo · 16/03/2025 17:39

I did laugh at this but truly hope your daughter gets sorted x
