“D”H being rude and spiky because of international women’s day…

ChampagneSuperNova00 · 08/03/2025 18:17

….he doesn’t think it’s fair that men don’t get a day and I didn’t agree, so I am getting the silent treatment with a helping of grumpiness, bitterness and spikiness and lots of huffing….what on earth is this about?

I wouldn’t mind but I didn’t even mention it in the first place, he brought it up. Its like living with a huffy teen.

This is like when I got in to an argument with my mum when she said there should be a white history month. Didn’t seem to understand my argument that history is mostly told from a white/western perspective.

Oh no!

I'd hate to be married to a moron.

I think my fanny would be dryer than the Sahara.

ChampagneSuperNova00 · 08/03/2025 18:55

Nor had I, I only saw it on social media and I didn’t even really know what it was or mention it to anyone!

It was him that brought it up and scoffed at why it was needed and why suddenly everything is women focused

tip of the iceberg of a shit marriage op. Yes?

Has anyone seen if the November 19th guy on Twitter has been at it again? I can’t remember his name but I love his feed

Serpentstooth · 08/03/2025 18:59

Watches a lot of utube does he? Especially those videos aimed at perverting adolescent boys?

RickiRaccoon · 08/03/2025 18:59

Poor guy. I think it might help get him in a better mood if you play "I am Woman" on full blast and send him a bunch of feminist memes.

Booboobagins · 08/03/2025 19:05

Today is also about the same day that working women in Britain actually start to get paid due to the gender pay gap and he wants a day for men. Tell him he's had 66 men days already!

Tell him it's needed because dickheads like him have a problem with women having a day to celebrate them once a year

ShouldIEvenBother · 08/03/2025 19:08

It's funny isn't it because if he were genuinely upset that men don't get "their" day... then ironically he would know that THEY DO - as pointed out several times on this thread already, OP, because quite simply he would have gone ahead and looked it up online, and low and behold... ahhh, yes. There is one. 🙄

What a knob.

JoshLymanSwagger · 08/03/2025 19:08

When he acts like a man, he can have a "day".

Today, he probably needs an early night with no dinner.

arethereanyleftatall · 08/03/2025 19:11

Your husband, a grown man and father of two girls, has been in a mood all day because there's a day to celebrate women?

That's weird op. Deeply weird. He has 3 females in his life, and could choose to celebrate how awesome they are, and how much he loves you all.

But he chose the opposite.

Either he got out of bed the wrong side just for today, or you've got some thinking to do.

Serpentstooth · 08/03/2025 19:12

Typical. He needs a bunch of women to tell him "there, there, dear, there IS a Men's Day, especially for people like you, when you grow up"

thestudio · 08/03/2025 19:15

APATEKPHILLIPEWATCH · 08/03/2025 18:23

It’s because they don’t really want their own day - they just don’t want women to have one.

This. He’s a misogynist.

TaggieO · 08/03/2025 19:17

Melania, is that you?!

coxesorangepippin · 08/03/2025 19:17

😂

Andabottleofrum · 08/03/2025 19:19

Had a similar conversation with my DH. When is
the men’s day 🙄

This was in front of our young DS and DD.

So I mentioned that there are some places in the world where DD wouldn’t be able to go
to school, just because she is a girl. And we need today to celebrate women, because they are often not treated the same as boys.

It was enough of an explanation for DS, but not DH 🙄

Beeloux · 08/03/2025 19:23

Oh gosh, he sounds hard work. I’ve found most men in this country don’t even know when it is or acknowledge it.
I was dating a Russian many years ago and he bought me a massive bouquet of roses alongside other gifts for international woman’s day. I lived abroad at the time and many of my foreign colleagues were shocked it wasn’t a big event in the UK.

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/03/2025 19:25

Thing is they are proving our point. Standing around complaining that no one did their homework and admin for them. And whining that they don't have what women have, even though they do.

Shooting fish in a barrel making this case.

Coffeelover1950 · 08/03/2025 19:26

International Women's Day has interesting origins, and is nothing new. When I lived in Italy women were given sprigs of mimosa on March 8th.

I got an enormous cookie and a card in a Canadian hotel.

Alt Hotel, please frequent them!

Ok, I feel like I need help. Maybe this is a US v. UK thing, but IWD is just something people post about on social media here, mostly. Is it a bigger deal there? This is at least the third thread I've seen about it, and I'm not getting the consternation among the men. Also, can these men not Google?

Agreed, I’ve not heard of it and can’t say I noticed Utd world was any different, what was supposed to happen or is happening today?

Or is it just a load of (semi pointless) social media activity, liking and forwarding digital pictures around on phones?

LaughingCat · 08/03/2025 19:27

I mean, if he’d been bitching about how performative IWD is, and how it just gives companies a chance to pay lip service to equality while virtue signalling for all they’re worth…sure, I’d completely agree with his grumpiness.

As it is, I’m so sorry, OP. You must have the patience of a saint to put up with such twattish behaviour!

stayathomer · 08/03/2025 19:29

There shouldn’t be a women’s or men’s day, it’s bloody patronising- hey women, here’s a day!!! But tell him if he’s mad at you for society’s holiday, it’s ridiculous!!
