To think Netflix isn't worth it anymore?

It's really gone down hill. Hardly any new content and mostly old shows or shows with subtitles (which is fine but not as the majority of offers).

Anyone else cancelling?

I was going to cancel, but then they put WWE on there, so I'm staying.

The rest of it isn't worth it at all though.

x2boys · 06/03/2025 14:08

I have seen a few good things recently but it's all subjective really ,if you don't like the content cancel.

Shoxfordian · 06/03/2025 14:08

I like Love is Blind, and DH is watching the Witcher so will be keeping it for now

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/03/2025 14:09

I cancelled mine, it’s not worth it these days, I don’t watch enough.

youngestisapsycho · 06/03/2025 14:10

No, I'm keeping it. There's stil loads on there I haven't watched.
I'm surprised when people say they can't find anything to watch on there.

Ineedpeaceandquiet · 06/03/2025 14:13

I was thinking the same thing but not sure that I am brave enough to cancel it!

CharlotteCChapel · 06/03/2025 14:17

I've recently watched Apple Cider Vinegar and the documentary on the that started it all.

Also like the true crime series and have caught up on a number of series I missed out on.

yakamoza · 06/03/2025 14:17

Thinking exactly the same thing. It's not just the old content that I don't find that interesting. I don't like their new content that much either. Don't know if I am just getting old and picky or it's something else but whatever I started watching in the last 12 months, I just couldn't care enough to finish. It's either the story line that doesn't interest me or I just can't connect with any of the characters.

When I do find something I like, they take such a long time between seasons that I frankly just forget what had happened in the previous seasons and can't be bothered to re-watch what I started, so I just give up!

I also can't get rid of the impression that Netflix is going for quantity rather than quality and I am grateful you reminded me to cancel mine as I've not watched it for ages!

TurtleBarnacle · 06/03/2025 14:20

Recently I've enjoyed Apple Cider Vinegar and am currently psrt way through watching Toxic Town, Silent Sea, Deadwind and A Nearly Normal Family.

I definitely still find lots to watch.

Theraffarian · 06/03/2025 14:25

I have zero loyalty to any of the streaming services , which seems to work for us . Currently on a 3 month free Apple TV trial , so catching up on Severance and Slow Horses . Had Amazon prime for a month before that as I needed to send a few gifts direct to people . Prior to that a month of just terrestrial tv , and Netflix over Christmas. That way we watch everything we want to see and then swap over rather than scratching around to find something.

It's the "paradox of choice" - the more choice you have the more you feel like there are no acceptable options. My partner spends 45 minutes choosing to watch something before bed and is then asleep within 5 minutes of starting it.

WallaceinAnderland · 06/03/2025 14:31

Cancel it for a year or two and then if you go back there will be new things to watch. Or don't go back if you don't miss it.

FrenchandSaunders · 06/03/2025 14:32

Having spent £40 for two cinema tickets to see the new Bridget Jones ... I now don't think £17.99 a month for netflix is that bad.

Kbroughton · 06/03/2025 14:37

I still like it. I just watched Toxic Town and Graveyard and now I am watching Running point which is pretty funny.

Hayley1256 · 06/03/2025 14:37

I rotate which ones I watch, recently just took netflix out again for £4.99 a month with ads (there aren't a lot of ads) but I'll probably keep it as DP is now nlwatching WWE on there! I always have prime and rotate Disney

You see Apple, Cider, Vinegar annoyed me because the real documentary was on at the same time, on Netflix. I watched the real one which was much better, then didn't bother with the fictional version as it seemed pointless, and too similar. The actual real situation was far fetched enough to be fictional, even though it was non fictional, if that makes sense. There was no need for ACV imo.
I'm finding Netflix uninspiring too op. I'll watch something, then find it really difficult to find something else that I don't end up turning off.

RustyBear · 06/03/2025 14:38

Just got notice that it’s going up at the end of the month. I’m now catching up on everything I want to see & will cancel as soon as I’m done.

Upstartled · 06/03/2025 14:39

Just finished watching Zero Day, that was really good.

Boredlass · 06/03/2025 14:40

I watch plenty on it. I’d never get rid of it

Ridiculous prices. We didn't pay as much as that, luckily got some discount and avoided Odeon. I was really disappointed with Bridget Jones; I just came out feeling a bit deflated. I found it it a a bit creepily inappropriate at the end as well with the teen boy, and the woman.

Isobel201 · 06/03/2025 14:44

I keep netflix going mainly for the japanese anime films, but I've found plenty of other stuff to watch on there.

You don't need to pay £17.99 for it, I pay £4.99 for it with ads, but the ads are nothing like as long lasting as ads on commercial TV, I often have whole programmes without a single ad or there's one in a whole film which lasts 15 or 30 seconds, they're really minimal.
I wouldn't pay 17.99 for it but happy to pay a fiver.

UraniumArthur · 06/03/2025 14:49

We pay for it through Sky so it's about £8 per month, I think. If we were still subscribing independently at current prices, I'd be cancelling because, I agree, the quality of shows has dropped dramatically and there is barely anything on there I want to watch any more.

Slow Horses, best thing on tv for ages. I binged watched during a free trial, then cancelled.

keyboardtypo · 06/03/2025 14:55

just subscribe for a month & watch what you want. Cancel & come back in 5 months or whatever & repeat.
