To think Netflix isn't worth it anymore?

It's really gone down hill. Hardly any new content and mostly old shows or shows with subtitles (which is fine but not as the majority of offers).

Anyone else cancelling?

Always late to the party but just found the Detectorists - absolute gold. Have started watching Black Dove and every Autumn we watch Gilmore Girls.

If they go ahead with the rumoured reality series with the Tate brothers then it will be cancelled

The offerings are poor on all services in my opinion.

Netflix seems to be geared to a younger audience now (I do love the lack of adverts though). Not sure why all my recommended content is East Asian though, as I never watch anything like that.

Prime has some good content but Ive seen a lot of that. I pay for no adds.

Sky is dire - full of kids shows and braindead Hollywood 'action movies.' You also cant skip adverts even though i pay to skip adverts (you still have to watch the first minute on TV and three minutes on tablet). Awful. I'll be cancelling shortly.

Paramount is very good but Ive watched all their great content.

I think we may be entering the final stages of enshitification when it comes to streaming services.

Outdoor boys is really good. Lots of wild camping type / outdoorsy type stuff. Into motorbikes so channels related to touring and reviews. There is so much content and really high quality. There's a lot of crap of course but the algorithms soon sort that out depending on what you watch.

For me it's worth the money for the premium. I'd struggle to go back to the ads. Plus you get you tube music as well, which is comparable to Spotify so that's also makes it worth the money for me.

I really didn't think I'd keep premium beyond the trial but I'm hooked.

Edited

Same here! Most of my viewing these days is on YouTube, I succumbed to premium and thought like you after the free trial I would go back to ads but absolutely no way now, premium is worth every penny

Netflix is going through a dry spell I think. The only things I enjoyed on there have either gone or been cancelled. I'm not keen on any of their original content tbh. I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed a Netflix original program or film.

I get more out of Disney tbh as I like the old star wars, Die Hard movies, a few romcoms, Modern Family, Family Guy and loved Rivals. I loved Bojack Horseman on Netflix and think that was made by or maybe with Netflix? I also quite liked Kaos but they cancelled that after the first series

Anyway, yes, I cancelled after my husband had finished watching what he wanted of WWE

Editing to add that like the pp, I watch quite a lot of YouTube. I like the anti-consumerism creators on there and a cooking one. I also pay for premium and wouldn't go back to ads.

Get behind thee, Satan.

The Whitcher and Stranger Things not worth it!?

Theimpossiblegirl · 07/03/2025 18:57

I'm only on season 2 of parenthood so I'll be keeping it for a while yet.

Just finished 100 years of solitude now watching the leopard. Not giving up on Netflix just yet. Both foreign language and watching with subtitles.

TheKeatingFive · 07/03/2025 22:16

I just started The Leopard. I'm not sure about the story yet, but it's so gorgeous to look at it may not matter.

GentlemanJack · 07/03/2025 22:22

I've been dithering for ages about subscribing but I find a lot to watch on Amazon and YouTube. There's only so many hours to spend watching.

autisticbookworm · 07/03/2025 22:33

Currently watching the resident and day zero. Plan to watch toxic town next and considering re watching big bang theory. There's some good films too and stand up. I Think it's much better than prime and apple and better than Disney for new content but Disney's back catalogue is better.

TheKeatingFive · 07/03/2025 22:39

Toxic town looks too depressing for me - a shame because the cast is wonderful

BobnLen · 07/03/2025 22:43

The thing with Netflix is that a lot of it is old stuff from Sky, Paramount and BBC so if you have the other streamers you would have already watched them, I think half the stuff is just repeats, I sometimes think, oh good a new series of something I have watched then realise it's just a repeat. They also have a habit of not having the licence for all the series so you miss bits. Manifest is an example of this

Already cancelled. Now I use a VPN and access cheaper streaming services overseas. Much better offerings too. MEGOGO and Kyivstar TV aren’t too bad from a cost to library perspective.

I like Netflix, I always find something to watch. We have Amazon, Apple, Paramount, Disney etc but Netflix is my favourite and I think it’s well worth the money.

I agree hardly anything new on and the stuff that is just seems to be off other channels that you could watch for free anyway

BobnLen · 08/03/2025 06:19

Ours is bundled in with Sky so is a bit cheaper, we have the one without ads, having it with Sky is a bit more difficult to cancel, you have to ring them up I believe. Though the £10.50 we pay for Netflix pals into insignificant compared to the £30 that we have got to fork out for DH to continue watching cycling after Eurosport disappeared. It's so expensive to watch TV nowadays if you want a good choice as it's all spread thinly over many platforms.

Finished it now, couldn't fault it. I may even have to watch it again. Sets, costumes and acting all 1st class. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
