To think that some people’s actions are so vile, it feels like they’re not even human?

There are certain individuals whose behaviour just seems so cruel, selfish, or malicious that it’s hard to believe they’re actually capable of empathy or decency. Whether it’s taking advantage of others, hurting people for no reason, or just being utterly toxic - sometimes I wonder if there are people out there who are just beyond help.

Am I being too harsh? Or are there truly some people who just lack basic humanity?

Trump? Levi Bellfield? Yes.

Calling somebody toxic for sharing a few hard truths or not enabling you? No

I'm sure some stuff is gonna come out in time, we might all be very surprised about.

I think of all the billions of humans, some are born wrong and there is no help for them.

For the majority, I think our start in life, our upbringing, experiences, abuse or trauma all determine how we develop empathy and morals. I think the Internet, radicalisation, sexualisation and pornography also can push people on or off dark paths. So this can be changed - people can be or get better 😀

Humanity includes humans that don’t feel empathy and compassion for whatever reason, so no, there are no humans that lack humanity. It’s all part of the same condition.

Trump , Musk and Vance seem to fall into this category. Plus Putin of course

Trump cares about power and money. Nothing else.

Whereas the stuff about Trump, Musk, Vance and Putin is already out there, meaning that there is very little now to be surprised about because we know for a fact how vile they are.

But no OP, I don't agree. The fact is that they are human, and it serves as a reminder to us all that it is largely the choices that we make that define us. Pretending that some people are so rotten through and through that they are not human simply hides us behind the fact that we could be just as bad if we chose to be.

Humans are complex. Capable of great acts if kindness and courage. Also capable of unbelievable cruelty. It's what makes the human race as diverse as it is.

I think history has shown us that dehumanising people is very dangerous.

Serial killers are likely to have physical brain damage, so even they aren't ALL "evil" - it's simply an inability to see other people are real due to (usually) abuse or violence as a child that damages the part of the brain that regulates emotions, the idea of consequences and empathy.

Trump and dictators are just narc psychopaths. This are the "vilest" kind of people as they have power, money and freedom to enact any kind of hatred they want on more people.

Yes. I'm 3hrs past separation from my ex partner and father of my children. When we separated (which he also wanted) band then I met someone else.
He went on a witch hunt to separate me from my family (who I had looked after for years) and my local friends. And then they set social services on to me alleging that I was an incapable mother.
There is abuse and then there is evil.

Definitely these people exist (JD Vance?!) But I'm an optimist and believe they are the minority.
