It's been panned but a lot of the press already hate her, hence my asking

Is it really that bad? I'm in my 30s and it doesn't seem aimed at my age group from the clips online.

There's one bad clip of her correcting mindy kaling on her name but I'm sure that's just been put out to make her look bad 😭

Worth a watch?

This

But her reputation is that she does not listen is the problem she has here with the RF.

She would be much better than Trump. I am actually starting to think men shouldn’t be allowed in politics. They’re crap at it.

She would be like Kamala style vibes and joy, that went well,

ArtTheClown · 05/03/2025 16:07

I'm indifferent, but it's shading to dislike due to the subject being heavily punted on my X algorithm today.

MuffinSpencer · 05/03/2025 16:13

I don’t particularly like her but don’t dislike her wait her. There’s things that they (her and Harry) have spoken about that I admired and times when I’ve thought they haven’t presented themselves in the best way.

I think she’s obviously very intelligent well educated, with a knowledge of arts and social issues. She could definitely do something less vapid and far more interesting with her platform. I would probably watch something else she did but not yet another celebrity twee lifestyle program.

I'll stick with Jamie Oliver and his massive shed in his garden. I absolutely love his shed ( with running water and electric) but his dog Conker steals the show (and his Dad when he pops in).

Not bothered about Meghan but this seems like Pippa and her book again.

I do have fond memories of Jamie Oliver sliding down the bannister in his fake flat before serving up food to his fake gang of friends! 😁

Totallymessed · 05/03/2025 16:25

It must be very confusing being a member of the royal family and having your surname change every time a relative dies

I love the Nigel Ng Uncle Roger character when he critiques the Jamie Oliver stuff.

She's a narcissist. It explains everything.. she's only interested in herself and her image. The royal family model never suited her agenda or her narrative where she needs to be the star celebrity. I wouldn't watch her show if you paid me money to. No thanks.

This thread was meant to be for non Meghan haters. I think you got lost on the way to the Royal Family board - you will find your tribe there 😁

Cookiecrumblepie · 05/03/2025 23:12

I didn’t mind it. I would make the food she makes. It’s well produced and pleasant. I’m not expecting a hard hitting drama or reality TV etc, it delivers what it promises, a light watch similar to stuff she did with the Tig.

Was she wrong? Is her name not meghan Sussex?

No it isn't actually. It's Mountbatten Windsor...
That's the name on the BC for Archie anyway...
I don't hate either of them, just tired of the pretentious hypocrisy out of the pair of them. I tried to watch its, ... not good.

JoyousEagle · 06/03/2025 06:43

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 04/03/2025 22:31

On the subject of their Sussex surnames were they one day to be removed of their titles possibly when POW becomes king (disclaimer to avoid a flaming, I'm not saying that will happen or that I'm wishing it on them) would they have to all change their surnames to something else?

They wouldn't need to change their names as I assume Sussex isn't an official name on anything. For example the children's birth certificates have their surnames as "Mountbatten-Windsor", with no surname listed for either parent on Archie's ie it just says "his royal highness xxx the Duke of Sussex".

Interestingly, on Lilibet's birth certificate, Meghan's surname is listed as Markle. But I don't know if that was a choice or if in America you have to put your maiden name maybe. Harry's surname is listed as Duke of Sussex.

Must be a pain - I assume (based on nothing) that the Wales children have kept Cambridge at school, if that's what they were before, maybe switch to Wales as they move to secondary school.

Superhansrantowindsor · 06/03/2025 06:54

I don’t understand why people who don’t like her watch it. I can’t stand her so won’t watch it.

Except all the RF use their / their father’s title as a surname in day to day life when they have the Princess / Princess title (Archie wasn’t a Prince when he was born because the Queen was still alive so what is on his birth certificate isn’t the current position).

William and Harry used Wales through school and in the military, W&K’s children used Cambridge at school (I assume they now use Wales), Sophie used Wessex (I assume she now uses Edinburgh) and Beatrice / Eugenie used York before they were married. Louise and James don’t do this but that’s probably because they don’t use the Princess / Prince titles they are entitled to either.

Why should Harry’s wife and children be the only ones criticised for following the usual naming pattern?

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 06/03/2025 08:12

Sorry, I’m struggling to see what is wrong with that.

It's one of those interactions you have to watch. Plenty of clips of it online, give it a view on youtube. When you se.it, it's just pretty cringe! and the fact that Mindy didn't even know Meghan's name is hilarious! And definitely implies they aren't really friends at all, and Mindy has just been bought in as a fake friend because Meghan couldn't get anyone more famous or well known to agree to come along.

In fact that's the problem with the show. Everything is fake. A borrowed house, a borrowed kitchen, a borrowed garden, fake friends, fake interactions that have clearly been set up to sell stuff or get people to tell Meghan how great she is.

The interaction she has with the chef is odd too. Like they've never spoken before and now he is trying to be friendly but she has no idea how to relate to him. He seems lovely, she seems cold and awkward

Then she's cooking in white, or heels, or with full.make-up and styled hair and claiming this is just her being natural and prepping the kids breakfast.

The whole thing sounds so cringe..utterly dull.

I don't get why anyone would want to watch it.

Meghan has no experience or qualifications in cooking or gardening or event planning etc..

It's just a show about her trying to impress people and get people to love ner. It's so odd. So so odd.

And don't get me started on the hypocrisy. I thought a few years ago.we.were.mewnt to believe Meghan was this strong, powerful, feminist who campaigned to 'get women out of the kitchen' since she was 11 years old. Now here she is being little wifey and making a show all about being the wife and mother in the kitchen!! I mean, really? What exactly are your values and passions Meghan? Where you stand on feminine sm seems to change from one day to the next.

I just her ridiculous, cringe, narcissistic and very hypocritical.

And stuck in the 50s...

You may not get why anyone would watch it, but it's made top ten in multiple countries so this is where Netflix understands what people want to watch whereas you don't. Which is fair enough, they are the professionals after all.

aCatCalledFawkes · 06/03/2025 08:38

I've watched it. It's harmless, some of it is a bit obvious and some a bit patronising - most people with small children get up to get them breakfast in the morning. I can't imagine that it would of been any more exciting if The Princess of Wales had presented the same thing except she would of got lots of pats on the back and 52 articles of positive feedback from the daily mail.

I can't get worked up about her or him at all, they left the UK 5 yrs ago and people are still banging on about how they let the queen down - lots of mumsnets threads though advising people to not be controlled by family or that its ok to go NC, surely we don't bring our children up these days with an expectation that have to do what what we did?

misscockerspaniel · 06/03/2025 08:38

Haven't watched it (no Netflix) but have read reviews and threads, seen what she wore and liked some of the clothes.

It strikes me that in the Firm, the Royal Family, she would have been a square peg in a round hole. She appears to need to be in control, the one making the decisions, so I can understand why she would feel miserable having everything mapped out for her. All the wealth in the world and it would still be a gilded cage if you wanted to be doing your own thing and not have a flunky telling you do this, go there. At least Diana had a very good idea of what she was letting herself in for, as did Catherine.

However good or bad the programmes are, they have at least provided some light relief from the Trump 'n Vance show, and for that alone, I am grateful.

I did I enjoyed it it's easy watching I think some people will never like her no matter what she does and just bash everything she puts out there I neither like or dislike her because I don't know her everything we have heard about her is from papers etc and that can be guilty of misinformation so I'm prepared to give it a go and I did enjoy it that's my opinion

Blackkittenfluff · 06/03/2025 08:41

No interest in her.

Both of them are irrelevant since they moved to America.

They have nothing to trade. No special talent that they can make money from.

She is scraping the barrel now.

Haha 😂 😂

I am sure people will tune into episode 1 due to all the hype! And then the ratings will tank! And netflix are pleased people will log in for episode one because then they'll find something actually quite good and get hooked onto watching that!

The show is shit. But I haven't criticised netflix themselves (however, there may come a point when they don't want people to think they only make shit shows, so at some point the benefits on markle will not outway the cost to netflix. Personally I think they might be hanging on to markle in the hope of getting some more juicy content - a divorce tell all, or interviews to publicise her memoire or something..)
