It's been panned but a lot of the press already hate her, hence my asking

Is it really that bad? I'm in my 30s and it doesn't seem aimed at my age group from the clips online.

There's one bad clip of her correcting mindy kaling on her name but I'm sure that's just been put out to make her look bad 😭

Worth a watch?

On the subject of their Sussex surnames were they one day to be removed of their titles possibly when POW becomes king (disclaimer to avoid a flaming, I'm not saying that will happen or that I'm wishing it on them) would they have to all change their surnames to something else?

StrawberrySquash · 04/03/2025 22:32

I watched the first half and it was standard lifestyle fluff, which I rather enjoy. But it felt terribly fake; the weird scripted interview with the gut whose supposedly to be a close friend she's known for years. And a lot of unremarkable things were presented as being astonishing. I was making that pasta a decade ago from Martha Stewart.

RanyaJerodung · 04/03/2025 22:37

I always thought that she was an intelligent and creative person, but this seems very dull and old fashioned. The strange thing is that she doesn't really cook much, there's a lot of packet stuff and adding bits of flowers or whatever. She doesn't come across particularly well, as if she's trying to create a different persona, it's strange. It's just disappointing. Someone described her as a Stepford wife, which isn't quite true, but the programme definitely regressive, like she's just decided to be housewife and homemaker.

Yes, it was just a bit too dull and old fashioned. She didn't really seem to have much personality, which was strange, really.

Vargas · 04/03/2025 22:49

I feel utterly neutral about MM, and I won't be watching her show, but I hope it's a massive success as it will really wind up all the weirdos who waste their energy ranting about her. Grin

Horses7 · 04/03/2025 23:05

It is really that bad.
Pretty vacuous with a lot of ‘best friends’ telling her how wonderful she is.
Although she does claim that making people feel loved is important, and I agree with her - but don’t think her father, almost every in-law, nephews, niece, a number of former friends and Piers Morgan would agree. 🤣

Horses7 · 04/03/2025 23:12

Ps The sad thing is she and Harry could have been such an asset to the Royal Family - what a waste. Life’s too short to make dried flower sprinkles.

pleasedonotfeedme · 04/03/2025 23:13

I don’t hate her — am generally indifferent to her and Harry. From what I’ve seen of the show (clips and reviews etc.) it looks perfectly pleasant but about 15-20 years too late for the kind of genre she’s aiming at.

If what she is after is a kind of Barefoot Contessa meets Nigella Lawson meets Goop, I kind of think that’s all a little bit too 2007-2010. The world has moved on; and we’re now post a decade or more of austerity and Trump and Brexit and Ukraine — it feels pretty irrelevant to be hankering after a delightfully curated lifestyle of homemade jam and linen napkins tied up with grosgrain ribbons and fresh wildflower posies from the kitchen garden. It’s just too reminiscent of a moment in time before we all had far grimmer and more pressing things to worry about.

Crazybaby123 · 04/03/2025 23:16

Don't hate her and don't love her. I can't underatand who the audience is for the cooking show though as it looks terribly boring and I would put it in the same bucket as The One Show. So boring and unnoffensive that it is shit.

Crazybaby123 · 04/03/2025 23:20

I watched a clip of her putting fruit on a plate as a dish. Just fruit, on a plate. So it is as shit as I thought it was going to be. Here is the clip R

I watched 4 shows as I love cooking programs. Best recipe came from a Korean chef who shared a fried chicken recipe I’ll probably try sometime. My personal opinion on Meghan; I don’t hate her, she looked very chic - picture perfect life, and I love to see women winning. Watching the show she reminds me a lot of my brothers now ex wife, who whilst lovely and gorgeous just had no depth, rather two dimensional and very spoilt by her parents but smart and hard working. I don’t mean this as an insult some people just aren’t complex and honestly I rather envy as their life often looks easier. Meghan’s Achilles is that she cares what people think of her, being popular and liked.

BountiesAreUnderrated · 04/03/2025 23:31

I won't be watching but I don't hate Meghan in the slightest. I think she's incredibly beautiful and I liked her in suits. I just don't think watching her make honey or a fruit platter is very entertaining. I'd rather see her return to acting.

JHound · 04/03/2025 23:39

Cushionseams · 04/03/2025 20:18

I'm not going to watch it. I don't mind her.

I am absolutely fascinated by how the daily mail is obsessed with her. There are 52 articles about her or her show today alone?!

The Daily Mail needs serious help on the topic of Markle. They are absolutely deranged!

They are deranged and obsessed. Justine also used the word deranged in an interview to describe some posters here when they talk about Meghan. She wasn’t wrong. The RF board is wild.

WellsAndThistles · 04/03/2025 23:52

I don't hate the Duchess of Sussex but have no interest in watching celebrity lifestyle programs so won't be watching.

To all the haters, remember in the UK the media have been taken to court and sued by them several times over the years, you'll never read anything impartial from our gutter press, they want us to hate them to boost their clickbait revenue.

WhenICalledYouLastNightFromTesco · 05/03/2025 00:13

I don't hate her, but I won't be watching the show.

I thought Sussex was just a title, not an actual change of surname. How many surnames does the royal family have? 🤣

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 05/03/2025 00:22

I'm on episode 4 now and I'm enjoying it!

I'm a sucker for a lifestyle type show and, knowing that she'd previously had a blog or something on this sort of thing which sounded like it was semi-successful so thought that this had potential,
I really didn't like it and can't quite put my finger on why. I know that all of these thjngs are pretty carefully choreographed and often at least half scripted but this seemed particularly so. The fact much of it wasn't in their house undermined it further. It was supposed to be this insight into her/their life yet it clearly can't be, Ultimately, though, I think I'm just baffled by the whole thing about privacy and then doing something like this. The bit about the Sussex surname is weird too. Surely that's not actually their surname.
It's a hard life in some ways that they are having to carve for themselves. I don't think that this helps with that.

BettyBardMacDonald · 05/03/2025 00:38

Meghan Sussex???

🤣🤣🤣

I thought she was an independent feminist rejecting royal life?

sleepwouldbenice · 05/03/2025 00:50

Americano75 · 04/03/2025 18:32

I don't hate her, but I don't see me watching it as it's not really my thing. I do, however, hope it's a massive hit just to fuck the Daily Mail off.

True

Zanite · 05/03/2025 01:01

I don't hate her, and I like cooking, gardening, crafting etc. I watched and enjoyed it to an extent. Meghan's likeable enough, but the dialogue with her friend was boring and self-conscious.

I'll watch it again, as I found it quite calming. I might pick up the odd bit of inspiration. Polished but dull, really.

CalicoPusscat · 05/03/2025 02:22

Just watched a bit of it. Clips from the LA one and the final.

I don't eat meat so wasn't interested in the chicken but liked the crudités and fruit. She did say it was a food and lifestyle show, but I found it bland.

CurlewKate · 05/03/2025 02:24

Isn't Sussex her official last name? Like William's children are George, Charlotte and Louis Wales at school? And Beatrice and Eugenie are York.

User1484POP · 05/03/2025 03:04

Sooooooo many dried flower sprinkles. Why?!?!?!?? Does anyone in real life use those?!

Yes, I don't know why that's a problem, really. It's part of her royal title, she's free to use it. I've often heard of Beatrice York and Sophie Wessex
