How can I lose weight FAST?

oopsydaisee · 01/03/2025 10:37

I have 6 weeks to lose an inch or so all around so that I can fit in a dress.
What is the quickest way to do it??
Please don't come at me about fad diets and how it's not sustainable etc, I'm not thinking about that at the moment and just need to lose some pounds.
And I'm asking for options other than weight loss jabs.

Low calorie diet, high protein and exercise.

I would probably try some water tablets the week of the wedding.

Tarantella6 · 01/03/2025 10:39

Cabbage soup diet
Meal replacement shakes
Drink loads of water
Eat as little salt as possible

0ohLarLar · 01/03/2025 10:40

Low calorie
Run 5km every day
Drink a lot of water

Togglebullets · 01/03/2025 10:42

Fast 800 worked for me last year.

Togglebullets · 01/03/2025 10:43

You can get a free trial of the app by the way

ThreeThousand · 01/03/2025 10:44

Yes- Fast 800- it's keto, intermittent fasting and calorie/ portion control in 1 diet. Not for the faint hearted! Get all the books from your library today.

wandawaves · 01/03/2025 10:47

Fast800 for sure. Stick to it strictly, and read the bits about recommended total daily carbs/protein. Use an app to calculate the calories, and make sure you include everything, as it can all add up so quickly.

UneasyMe · 01/03/2025 11:16

If you don’t work, spend at least four hours walking every day.

CouldYouMindThatBaby · 01/03/2025 11:17

Fast 800

FeministUnderTheCatriarchy · 01/03/2025 11:22

Keto and a 4 hour eating window paired together.

My 69 year old mother with thyroid issues lost 6kg in 8 weeks.

I have lost a lot of weight also.

We eat a really good dinner at 6pm and then usually something at 8pm.
She eats around 1500 calls and I eat around 1700, but we don't really count them.

Under 20grms of carbs is the rule.
We do high fat, moderate protein, low carb.

SnippySnappy · 01/03/2025 11:35

Fast 800 Keto
or if you don't mind spending a bit of ££ and don't want to prep meals
The 1:1 (Cambridge) diet

Wigtopia · 01/03/2025 11:36

Weight training, lots of water, majority of your meals vegetables with protein thrown in

tallhotpinkflamingo · 01/03/2025 11:45

Any VCLD - search the brand names, basically you have shakes and very low cals and carbs.

you also might want to try one of those plastic wrap things you can book an appointment for a day or two before

ShagratandGorbag4ever · 01/03/2025 11:46

Intermittent fasting (the grown-up version-two food-free days per week) unless there are medical reasons why you can't do that.

weight training for something in a week's time is useless.

The op says 6 weeks.

Littlejellyuk · 01/03/2025 15:02

My hubby would eat healthy for 3 days, have 1 cheat day, and the other 3 days he would use the military diet.
Also drank loads of water and walked 20,000 steps per day. It worked, he lost a fair chunk.

Mounjaro

oops! Sorry. Edited to say I hadn’t seen you didn’t want WLI.

Agree. Low carb is essential though. When you drastically cut carbs to less than 20 grams a day, your appetite disappears after about 4 days so it becomes easy to not overeat. Add in some brisk walking (aim for at least 30 mins twice a day) and you should manage that.

Caveat is it depends on how “big” you are - if you are significantly overweight you could lose a stone in 2 weeks but if you are not very overweight and just want to be trimmed, you won’t lose as much.

good luck and let us know how you get on!!

Hankunamatata · 01/03/2025 15:09

Fast 800. Low carb and high protein
Make sure you take supplements to get minerals

BlumminFreezin · 01/03/2025 15:15

I'd just do shakes.

Altralife is the one used in the NHS. £35 a week, 4 shakes a day, which is 900 calories.

Grannywasafanny · 01/03/2025 15:17

Slim fast

Redcrayons · 01/03/2025 15:20

What exercise do you currently do?

weights, spin and yoga will tone you up a noticeable amount in 6 weeks.

Fastingandhungry · 01/03/2025 15:26

The glowwithjo YouTube dance fit videos are good. Plus fasting.

MamaBobo · 01/03/2025 15:35

Fast800 really works. I did three weeks of that, sticking to recipes from the Fast800 Recipe book by Dr Clare Bailey and Justine Pattison. Now doing the 5:2 using the same book, but I’ve added a bit of exercise into the mix. Started on 13 January (so approaching the end of week 7) and I’ve lost 9kg and 9cms off my waist. You don’t need the app or a subscription…we have just used the book and there are loads of great recipes. The book explains how it works and what to do. I’ve found it really easy to stick to, although DH is doing it too and that really helps. Good luck!
