Sorry guys I'm currently worked up into a frenzy been awake all night worrying.
I booked airline tickets through a website called cheapflyshop at a cost of £800.
Ive recieved a booking confirmation email but on reading the details within the email it says e tickets to be issued within 48hrs and states ticket number pending.
It also says they are working with their suppliers to secure my reservation and places are in high demand.
I have since gone on this companies reviews and found that customers are been called and been asked to pay more money for different flights and for extras etc and when the customer has refused they will not refund money etc.
I am so worried now I can't afford to lose this money and cannot pay more.
Help what I do.

I am telling you I have called my bank and they have stopped payments. I have done it several times. You can believe anything you like, frankly, but my bank have stopped payments leaving my account for me. Repeatedly

You seem utterly triggered by this fact lol

Probably because you are bullshitting. I also work for a bank and we don't have the technology to stop card holder approved payments because this technology doesn't exist. If it did then we would be saving millions in fraud payouts. We can apply criteria eg over £x then held until we call to verify but if the payment is below the threshold then it goes through.

They can only be disputed after they have gone through.

I am not the bank cleaner either.

I wasn't sure whether to give them the 48hrs to see if they honour what I thought I'd booked.

You need to go through their complaints process before you can do a chargeback on your credit card.

You can usually cancel a flight within 24 hours of booking with no charge.

So whether it's a scam site or not i would have a look at what their cancel process is and do that.

If that doesn't work or they come back to you and say it's too late to cancel (it isn't) then do the charge back.

But you must try and cancel first.

No flight has yet been booked - OP has submitted a request for a flight at a certain price. They'll let her k ow in 48 hours whether they've been able to source one at that price or whether additional cost is involved

I have literally called my bank and had them reverse all kinds of things. On multiple occasions. I'm not lying.

Trying searching something like 'cancel pending payment lloyds' and you can find information from the actual bank, like instructions on how to do it in aoo. I always call them because so I can't speak for cancelling in app. I've done it on at least 5 or 6 occasions. It's never been an issue and they have never said no.

Maybe I get better banking service than some of you do.

5 or 6 times you’ve had to cancel a transaction? I’ve got all the way to 50 without having to do that. What do you keep doing wrong?

They just called me to say that my ticket has gone through but my partners is on standby so in order for us to travel together he wanted to go through other flights I said no and requested a refund instead which he said I will get but I'm not convinced

You'll get the refund. It's likely just a question of whether it comes from the travel company or your credit card company

Charltonstrek · 22/02/2025 21:50

Update they just called again trying to offer alternative flights I insisted on a refund and they've done it the charge is no longer on my card.
I'm so happy

Such a satisfying thread to read through! It had tears, anger, drama 🍿 and best of all, a happy ending! Happy for you, OP. Glad you got it all sorted and I learnt loads about reversing transactions, albeit from a cleaner at a bank 😉

The same thing happened to me, no ticket no refund. These are Indian scammers who rip people off. cheapflyshop.com avoid. Dealchecker.co.uk host their site too. Best buy from well known sites lie skyscanner.com. I am still awaiting for a refund.

I read alot of the comments, but was the situation SCAM or Not?
